“The PROMISE” October

A Message from the Basileus

Greetings Sorors,

All Aboard the OXO LOVE TRAIN!

Welcome to October, Sorors! Can you believe we are just 15 days away from hosting the 2025 Michigan Cluster? My heart is overflowing with joy and excitement as we prepare to welcome our MI “SISTAHS” and show the Great Lakes Region the true spirit of OXO. The LOVE TRAIN is pulling into the station, and I am beyond happy to share this moment with each of you.

First, I want to thank you, Sorors, for your diligence, teamwork, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Because of you, the OXO LOVE TRAIN will be an unforgettable experience for everyone who boards. As I said before, every meeting, every rehearsal, every ounce of effort you’ve given—none of it has gone unnoticed, and I am so proud to serve alongside you! We will still hold chapter meeting at our regularly scheduled date and time, but afterward, the expectation is simple: take some much-needed R & R! You’ve earned it, Sorors. Rest, refresh, and recharge, because the big weekend will be here before we know it.

October is a full month for us, beginning with our chapter Blood Drive on Saturday, October 5. We will also continue to gather for our Cluster WELCOME rehearsals every Wednesday until Cluster weekend. On Thursday, October 16, early registration for the Detroit Metro 12 will take place, followed by a private dinner with Madam Regional Director on Friday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m. Then, on Saturday, October 18, at 8:00 a.m., we will come together for the highly anticipated 2025 Michigan Cluster! All other pertinent details, including arrival times, will continue to be shared by our outstanding Cluster Chairman, Soror Keia Perry-Farr, and Cluster Co-Chairman, Soror Melanie Harris Farmer.

I must also pause the train to extend 1,000 pink tea roses to the “Mayors of OXOville”—Soror Carla Postell, Membership Chairman, and Soror Melanie Harris Farmer, Membership Co-Chairman—as well as the entire team of “OXOville Ambassadors”: Sorors Argentina Abney, Stephanie Edwards, Cyd Grace, Kelli Hackel, Tomara Nolen, Pamela Tinsley, and Melissa Witek. Sorors, you delivered a SPECTACULAR September to Re-MEMBER! Stay tuned for exciting news celebrating the fruits of your labor.

As we continue down the tracks, the countdown is on. In just a few short days, the OXO LOVE TRAIN will make its most exciting stop yet—and I’m truly blessed to be on this journey with each of you.

I AM My Sister's Keeper!

SISTERLY and in His SERVICE,

Choo choo… see you at Cluster!

Membership Committee Celebrating Sisterhood Through Reactivation & Motivation

The Membership Committee has been busy ushering in the new program year with events that celebrate both reconnection and sisterly fellowship.

In September, we kicked off the year for our Mentoring Mondays Program with a fellowship dinner after the summer break at Dox Grillhouse in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. This gathering provided an opportunity for mentors and mentees to connect, share experiences, and set the tone for a year of intentional mentoring, growth, and support. The evening reminded us of the power of relationships in strengthening our chapter and sustaining our legacy.

We also hosted our yearly Reactivation Event, “A September to ReMember,” where visiting Sorors were warmly encouraged and welcomed back into active membership. The afternoon was filled with sisterly love, reflection, and a renewed commitment to our shared mission of service and sisterhood. It was inspiring to see Sorors reconnect and recommit to the work of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®

Together, these events reflect the heart of our OXO Membership Committee—welcoming Sorors home, nurturing connections, and building bridges for lasting impact.
