Violinist Elli Choi and organist Daniel Ficarri perform free this month
The Presbyterian Church at Tenafly will present two free September concerts featuring internationally recognized musicians Elli Choi and Daniel Ficarri. Choi, a 2020 graduate of Tenafly High School and an award-winning violinist, will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, in the churchʼs Old Stone Chapel. She will play sonatas by Paul Hindemith, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven, among other works. Ficarri, associate director of music and organist at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in New York City, will perform at 3 p.m. Sept. 19 as part of the churchʼs continuing Organ Recital Series. Both concerts will be held at the Presbyterian Church at Tenafly, 55 Magnolia Ave. Choi, 23, has performed throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Her appearances have included Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall and the David H. Koch Theater in New York; the Berliner Philharmonie; the Kimmel Centerʼs Verizon Hall in Philadelphia; Maison Symphonique de Montreal; Tonhalle Zurich; Rudolfinumʼs

HAWORTH 5K RETURNS SEPT. 19
Now in its 17th year; run/walk brings state championship races
The Haworth 5K Run/Walk returns Saturday, Sept. 19, for what organizers say will be the community eventʼs 17th running. The 3.1-mile race will begin at 9:30 a.m. at 142 Terrace St. It is open to runners and walkers, combining a competitive championship field with a community race intended for the broader public. The event traces its beginnings to spring 2009, when a small group of local volunteers formed the Haworth Road Runnersʼ Association with the goal of bringing a 5K back to the borough. From the start, organizers wanted the course to showcase Haworthʼs picturesque streets, small-town character and community spirit. They also wanted the race to benefit the organizations and causes serving Haworth and its neighbors. Organizers say the event has raised more than $300,000 for local organizations and causes since it began. This yearʼs race will serve as the USA Track & Field New Jersey
