Dear Prairie School Community,
Many of the most meaningful moments at Prairie happen in ways that can’t be measured. They unfold in conversations between teachers and students, in teammates pushing each other for one more rep, in rehearsals that build confidence before the curtain rises, and in classrooms where curiosity sparks discovery and understanding. These moments of connection are at the heart of a Prairie education, and they are made possible because of a community that invests in people.
In the 2025-26 school year, your generosity helped strengthen every corner of our school. It paved the way for professional development, empowering our faculty to challenge and inspire our students; it expanded opportunities in the arts and academics in every division; it fortified our facility and ensured the spaces where we meet and learn are some of the best in the country. Every gift supported experiences that shaped our students’ lives now, allowing them to become better, more resilient versions of themselves.
This past year, we witnessed growth every single day. Whether it was in the form of raising trout in 3rd grade, a new STEM Lead position and full-time Speech and Language Pathologist, the rebirth of student-directed One Act plays, or the successful completion of the girls’ soccer season culminating in a State Championship, none of these were isolated moments. They are all the result of a culture where students are known, valued, supported, and challenged – a culture that believes in continuing to move our mission forward.
The pages in this report reflect what happens when our community shows up and gives back. We are deeply grateful for the many ways you continue to champion Prairie. THE PRAIRIE FUND The Prairie Fund is Prairie’s most important fundraising endeavor, as it touches nearly every aspect of student life. From day-to-day operations to financial assistance to curriculum materials and programming, the impact of the Prairie Fund reaches far and wide.
ENDOWMENT Prairie’s endowment generates interest to fund the school’s annual operations as well as its scholarship program. Gifts to the endowment ensure Prairie’s financial health for years to come.

A LIFE-SAVING LESSON CPR has a long history at Prairie. For years, Melody Owsley, former girls’ basketball coach and physical education teacher, taught it to Upper School students as a semesterlong class, the students meeting approximately every other day. Following her retirement last summer, Prairie was in search of a logical next step.
Enter Kayla Zeno, the school’s former athletic trainer and current Assistant Director of Athletics.
“Continuing what Mel started seemed important,” she says. “We’re starting out this year with a pilot course for the 8th graders and we’ll see how it goes. The kids seem excited. They’re eager to get certified. A lot of them have expressed an interest in things like babysitting and they believe – probably correctly so – that this certification will make them feel more prepared for situations like that.”

MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT (AND FUN) WORK Prairie’s campus is home to many animal friends. In addition to our outdoor visitors (deer, ducks, hawks, owls, and geese), we also provide a reprieve for our resident fish, eel, and service dog. This spring, we welcomed a group of cockroaches – arthropods-inresidence you might say – for a temporary visit when three senior AP Bio students stopped by Kindergarten for a hands-on insect investigation. Prairie’s cross-curricular commitment regularly invites Upper School students to help with Primary School lessons; Anmi Teo ’26 (pictured) was one of the students who assisted the class of 2038.

MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL TURNS TEN The Prairie School Multicultural Festival, an annual celebration featuring native food, dance, music, and art, has grown so much over the past decade that this year’s event was held in the Prairie Field House, a space built in 1970 to hold approximately 2,000 people. The Field House was bursting at the seams, filled with students, teachers, parents, grandparents, and even neighbors. It was filled with empanadas and pepparkakor and chicharrones. It was filled with the music of a mariachi band. It was filled with love and respect for teachers and classmates and the traditions our families hold dear.

READY, SET, EXPLORE From a cultural immersion in Quebec (right) to enjoying Broadway in NYC to building a boat here on campus (left) and all the excursions and opportunities in-between, this year’s J-Term program featured 17 different courses, trips to three continents, four countries, and the largest province in Canada, as well as numerous opportunities to make, create, and build – a boat, an album, clothing, and a cooking journal ( just to name a few).
