Jackie O’s Public House Restaurant to reopen in June FIONA PETTICREW HUMAN INTEREST EDITOR Jackie O’s Public House Restaurant opened in 2005, providing locals with 30 kinds of Jackie O’s drafts and meals made with locally sourced ingredients. On Nov. 4, 2025, at about 6:30 p.m., a kitchen fire broke out in Jackie O’s, according to a previous report from The Post. Chelsea Langlois, general manager of Jackie O’s Public House Restaurant, said the restaurant staff is planning to reopen the building in June. . continued pg A4
McDavis Hall to welcome students in August LAYNEE ESLICH NEWS STAFF WRITER On May 12, Ohio University’s Housing and Residence Life posted pictures of a single and double suite in the new Roderick J. McDavis Residence Hall to Instagram and Facebook with a caption alluding to the dormitory construction being 80% finished. Construction on the dormitory, otherwise known as McDavis Hall, is expected to be completed in August, according to past reporting by The Post. The photos sparked questions and comments online from both students and parents. According to OU Housing and Residence Life, the south wing of the building will occupy returning students, while the north wing will occupy firstyear students. continued pg A3

People to know,places to go KAITLIN HOGG | NEWS STAFF WRITER Going to a new place can be daunting, especially when starting a university career. To help make this process as easy as possible, here is a quick look into the who and where of Ohio University.

Notable places on campus include Baker University Center, Nelson Court, Boyd Dining Hall, Alden Library, the College Bookstore, Ping Recreation Center, Chubb Hall and Hudson Health Center.
Ohio University offers a wide range of healthcare services for students and locals in Athens.
Baker is located at 1 Park Place. There, students can find dining options, such as West 82 and Latitude 39, as well as the new Maggie Davis Market Express. Baker is also home to numerous conference rooms, a theater and Bobcat Depot.
OhioHealth Campus Care is located in the Hudson Health Center. There, students can find urgent care, primary care and psychological services, offered to any OU undergraduate, graduate or medical student enrolled in one or more credit hours.
Across the street from the fourth floor of Baker is Alden. Alden, located at 30 Park Place, houses seven floors of books and study rooms. The library has rooms and hushpods available to reserve during busy study days. Café Bibliotech is located on the second floor of Alden, where students can use flex points and Bobcat Cash for their purchases.

There are three floors worth of treadmills, stair steppers, fitness classes, weight rooms and more. For those who like to run or walk, there is also an indoor track on the third floor that spans the interior perimeter of the building. There is also a squash court, five basketball or volleyball courts, four racquetball courts and a 36-foot-tall, double-sided climbing wall. continued pg A2
