DIRECTOR’S NOTE
I've always loved Greek mythology These stories have been told for thousands of years, yet somehow they still feel incredibly relevant.They remind us that while the world around us changes, people don't change that much. We still love deeply, make impossible choices, search for hope, and wrestle with fear That's one of the many reasons I fell in love with Hadestown.
Anaïs Mitchell has created something truly special by taking these ancient myths and weaving them into a story that speaks to the world we live in today. It's a musical that asks us to think about power, inequality, climate, community, and what it means to hold onto hope when everything around you tells you not to. It doesn't promise happy endings or easy answers, but it does remind us that hope is worth choosing anyway.
Directing this production has been an absolute joy.This cast has worked incredibly hard over the past several weeks, tackling some of the most challenging music, storytelling, and movement I've ever asked of young performers More importantly, they've built a company that supports one another, celebrates each other's successes, and isn't afraid to take creative risks Watching them grow throughout this process has been one of my favorite parts of this journey.
To our musicians, designers, crew, volunteers, families, and everyone who has helped bring this production to life, thank you Theatre only exists because people come together to create something bigger than themselves, and I am endlessly grateful for this community.
And finally, thank you for being here. Live theatre only comes alive when it's shared with an audience.As Hermes says, "It's an old song, and we're gonna sing it again." I hope tonight's performance reminds you why we keep telling these stories, that even when the road is difficult, hope, love, and kindness are always worth fighting for.

Asher Woomert (Orpheus) is 18 years old and will be attending the University of Michigan this fall to pursue his BFA in Acting. You may have previously seen him in Metamorphoses and as Adam in Beetlejuice. He would like to thank his family for always supporting him, his dog for pooping on his bed, and “John" whoever you are. If you bring him chocolate pudding, he'll give you a hug!
Jules Whittemore (Eurydice) is a rising senior at The Out-of-Door Academy. This is her second production at The Sarasota Players, where she was previously seen as Éponine in Les Misérables. Jules is thrilled to be working with her director, Thayer, whom she has known since the beginning of her musical theatre journey in middle school. She is so excited to be part of this magical production and hopes you enjoy the incredible hard work and dedication of this cast. "Sit back, relax, and listen to these little songbirds."
Evan Jarr (Hades) will be attending Florida State University's BFA Acting program this fall. Previous Players credits include Thenardier in Les Misérables, Beetlejuice in Beetlejuice, Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd, and many others. Willa Carpenter (Persephone) is so excited to be performing in her third show at The Players! She is an upcoming junior at Booker High School and a member of the VPA Theatre Program Some of her favorite roles include Miss Argentina in Beetlejuice Jr. and Becky in The Incident at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Gavin Gargano (Fate) is thril p amazing cast! She is currently a student at Florida State University pursuing dual degrees in Theatre Performance and English with a minor in Education. Gavin has directed The Players' Summer Camp productions for the past four summers, including The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and most recently SpongeBob. Favorite performance credits include The Addams Family (Morticia), Peter and the Starcatcher (Molly), Into the Woods (Baker's Wife), Pippin (Leading Player), and Curtains (Georgia) Gavin would like to thank her family, friends, directors, and castmates for their unwavering support.
Cooper Nielson (Fate) is an incoming freshman at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music, where he will pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre. Piper Freeman (U/S Fate) is an upcoming senior in Booker High School's VPA Theatre Program. She has appeared in numerous productions both at Booker and The Players. Favorite roles include Johanna in Sweeney Todd, Barbara in Beetlejuice, Tanya in Mamma Mia!, and most recently Cosette in Les Misérables.
