COLLEGE COUNSELING

HIGHLIGHTS

We find the right match for every student. Finding and selecting the “best fit” college for each student is a thoughtful, considered process that begins with information sessions in Grade 9 and continues through senior year. The Pennington School believes that every graduate should attend the college or university that best suits their own interests and strengths. To identify the right match, each student’s unique personality, achievements, and goals are taken into consideration.

College Planning Timeline:

Grades 9 and 10: College counselors build relationships with their students while offering advice on how to make the most of the Upper School experience. They also provide an overview of the college selection process through informative seminars and interactive workshops. Grade 11: College counselors work individually with their students and meet regularly to discuss career goals, develop a standardized testing plan (if applicable), and create a balanced college list. All juniors take a college counseling seminar to help them through the planning and application process. Grade 12: Students continue to work closely with their college counselor, and receive ongoing support as they complete and submit applications to the schools of their choice. Programs for parents and guardians: Programs are offered to assist with the college selection and application process, including how to apply for financial aid and afford college tuition.
