Margaret Mary Alacoque, Religious, 1647-1690 The widespread devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus celebrated in the Church today can be directly attributed to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque. In a period of time when religious devotion in France was, at best, cool, this unlikely saint was charged by Jesus with strengthening the love of God in the people. Born the fifth of seven children to the family of an official in Burgundy, Margaret was PARISH a good but, like most saints, ROTATING CTAchild, / MINI ARTICLE had no extraordinarily angelic traits as a young girl. At the age of four, she took a vow of chastity, but later said that she had no idea of the meaning of either a vow or chastity. When she was about eight, her father died and Margaret was sent to school in a convent run by the Poor Clare nuns. It was at this time that she began to be attracted to a religious vocation READ MORE HERE

WORSHIP & MUSIC Andrew J. Macirowski - Pastoral Coordinator for Worship & Music / Principal Organist Worship@StMarysColtsNeck.org • Music@StMarysColtsNeck.org

The Catholic Church celebrates three sacraments of initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist—which together lay the foundation of every Christian’s life. These sacraments mark the beginning of a person’s journey of faith, welcoming them into the community of believers and strengthening their relationship with God. Each sacrament builds upon the other, deepening the individual’s participation in the mystery of Christ and the life of the Church. Baptism is the first sacrament and the gateway to all others. Through Baptism, a person is cleansed of original sin, becomes a child of God, and is incorporated into the Body of Christ. Water, a central symbol in the ritual, represents both purification and new life. Baptism is often administered to infants, but adults entering the Church through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) also receive it as a sign of spiritual rebirth. Confirmation and the Eucharist complete the process of initiation. The Eucharist, the source and summit of Christian life, unites believers more deeply with Christ through the reception of His Body and Blood. The reception of Holy Communion is so important, that it is the only sacrament of initiation that is repeated throughout our lives - receiving Jesus in the Eucharist as often as possible. In Confirmation, the baptized receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit, strengthening them to live out their faith with courage and conviction. Together, these three sacraments establish and nourish the spiritual life of Catholics, preparing them to live as active witnesses of Christ in the world. In our parish, we celebrate Baptisms year-round, outside of Advent and Lent, and the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation for children in the month of October. Adults receive these sacraments at the Easter Vigil. Please pray for those young people in our parish who are receiving these sacraments this month and those adults who are in the formation process.

World Mission Rosary Guide Activity for Parishes, Prayer Groups, and Households – October 2026 Theme: One in Christ, United in Mission Biblical Inspiration: “that they may all be one… so that the world may believe that you sent me” (John 17:21) Introduction Each October, the Church throughout the world unites in prayer and solidarity for the missions. This year, as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of World Mission Sunday, we are invited to renew our commitment to the Church’s mission with hearts united in Christ. In his message for this centenary year, Pope Leo XIV reminds us that the Church’s mission flows from our communion with the Lord and with one another. When we pray for the missions, we enter into that communion in a profound way, becoming spiritually united with those who proclaim the Gospel in every corner of the world. The World Mission Rosary is a beautiful expression of this unity. Through it, we embrace the whole world in prayer, lifting up the needs of every continent and every people, and asking that all may come to know the saving love of Jesus Christ.

How to Pray the World Mission Rosary 1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross 2. Apostles’ Creed 3. Our Father 4. Three Hail Marys (for faith, hope, and charity) 5. Glory Be

What is the World Mission Rosary?

Then pray five decades of the Rosary, meditating on the Mysteries of the day. For each decade, offer your prayer for a different region of the world:

The World Mission Rosary was introduced in 1951 by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, then National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States.

The Five Decades

He envisioned a rosary that would reflect the universality of the Church, with each decade representing a different region of the world where the Gospel is proclaimed and lived. By praying the World Mission Rosary, we are reminded that we are one Church, united in Christ, and that the mission entrusted to us belongs to all the baptized. The Colors and Their Meanings: Green – Africa – For the continent’s rich lands and the life of its growing Church. Blue – Oceania – For the waters that connect its many island communities. White – Europe – For the Holy Father and the Church’s historic roots. Red – The Americas – For the fire of faith and the witness of martyrs. Yellow – Asia – For the light of Christ rising where many have yet to hear the Gospel.

1st Decade – Africa (Green Beads) 2nd Decade – Oceania (Blue Beads) 3rd Decade – Europe (White Beads) 2nd Decade – The Americas (Red Beads) 5th Decade – Asia (Yellow Beads) Conclude With: Hail, Holy Queen Prayer for the Intentions of the Holy Father Mission Prayer (Optional) Heavenly Father, you have called us to be one in Christ and united in his mission. Strengthen us through your Spirit, that we may bear witness to your love and help bring the light of the Gospel to all peoples. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

ASCENSION

St. Paul's first letter to the Corinthians addresses many of the same topics in the news headlines today: scandals, promiscuity, debates and controversies, and issues related to prosperity versus poverty. Clearly, the struggles faced by the early Christians are in many ways similar to our own. First Corinthians: The Church and the Christian Community explores the key elements of the gospel message that Paul introduced to a new and growing Church. Presenter Tim Gray examines Paul's advice for living an authentic Christian life in a pagan culture, as well as his teachings about the nature of grace, the Church as the body of Christ, and the most powerful gift of all—the Eucharist.
