All active parishioners are asked to participate in ministry as part of their stewardship of time and talent. It is in serving our fellow parishioners and guests that we provide a welcoming space and reverent worship opportunity for all. Jude, Apostle, First Century Judas Thaddeus, called Jude to distinguish him from Judas Iscariot, is often regarded as the brother of the Apostle, Saint James the Less. Other than a mention in the listing of the Apostles in the Gospels, there is only one reference to Jude anywhere in the New Testament. At the Last Supper, Jesus tells the Apostles that he will reveal himself to them. Jude then asked him, “Master, what happened that you will reveal yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.” (Jn 15:23). All Souls Remembrance
For the month of November It is the Church’s custom to reserve the month of November for the remembrance of all the faithful departed. Please use your All Souls envelope to write the names of those loved ones you would like to remember and kindly drop it in the collection boxes anytime beginning in October. The envelopes will be wrapped and placed near the tabernacle, and an intention will be added to the prayer of the faithful in the Masses celebrated on All Souls Day and during the month of November. Quo vadis for October 29. . . My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Most of us don’t have difficulty loving those we know and care about. The first reading directs our love even toward the neighbor we don’t know. In our present society this is perhaps not only challenging but sometimes it is also very risky. In a crime-laden society such as ours we tend not to trust the stranger—the one we meet on the street or the one who might come to our door. On the one hand, we must be careful and protect ourselves and our loved ones. On the other hand, we must be genuinely sensitive to others’ needs. If someone comes to our door and needs to use the phone, we can offer to make the call for them; if we see something happening that is wrong, we can take responsibility and call the police or other agency; we can do something so simple as hold a store door open for someone who is package-laden. Yes, actions speak louder than words! Congratulations to our First Communicants and their families. All three masses were prayerful and the children were dressed nicely for the occasion. Last weekend we celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation. I am grateful to our staff for their great care in preparing these families. Our parishioners have been great in assisting us with all of the details for these sacramental celebrations. This coming weekend we will host the Halloween Halls beginning at the Saturday 4:00 PM mass and continuing throughout the buildings on our campus. Sunday we will welcome family members of those who have experienced the death of a loved one in the past year…the Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated on Sunday at 12:00 noon Mass. This coming week is the Solemnity of All Saints 1 November, a holy day of obligation. Our mass
schedule is coordinated with Saint Catherine Parish, Holmdel for your convenience. Masses will be celebrated in our parish church building. Check out the details posted in this e-bulletin. The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed, 2 November, also known as All Souls Day, will be celebrated at 9:00 AM in the Chapel. I have been advised once again that the lighting replacement project will commence Monday, 30 October in the parish church. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this process. Our Annual Stewardship Report for the Calendar Year 2022 & the Fiscal Year 1 July 2022 – 30 June 2023 has been electronically sent to all of our registered parishioners via the email handle they have provided to us. It will also be available on our website. While it can seem a bit overwhelming, I encourage you to read through it to learn more about our parish. Surely, oversight of finances is important; however, how the financial resources are used to further the mission of the church is equally important. Thank you for your continued support of our parish. Next weekend there will be a Liturgical Ministry Fair in the Narthex/Gathering Area of the Church. It is long overdue. We need many to sign up to support our common liturgical prayer. There are descriptions in the 2023 Stewardship Report sent last week. Prayerfully consider how you might share your time and talent in support of our communal prayer. As the leaves change color we are reminded that our liturgical year is quickly coming to a close. Light Up A Memory
The Light Up A Memory ceremony will take place after the 4:00 PM Mass on Saturday, December 16. It is that time to decide who you would like to remember on our Parish's Beautiful "Memory Tree"! A donation of $10.00 per light will honor a loved one (living or deceased), and the lights will shine until the Christmas season is over on Epiphany. It is so touching to hear the children of our Religious Ed. Program each year singing hymns with the congregation during the lighting ceremony. There will be a special Memory Book on display in the Church Gathering Space, where all the names will be inscribed. Each $10 donation also entitles the donor to get a card to send to the family of the deceased or to the honoree. Cards can be picked up at the parish office. The deadline to submit THIS FORM is Monday, December 4. Thank you for participating in this wonderful parish tradition.
Sanctuary Lamp Consider offering a Sanctuary Lamp that burns in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament in our Church or Chapel in memory of a deceased loved one or in honor of a living person (for birthdays, anniversaries, sickness, etc.). One intention is accepted per week (Sunday to Saturday) for the Lamp. Requests can be made online HERE for the remainder of 2023 and for 2024. Available lamps are displayed in GREEN on our websites calendar. Requests for a Sanctuary Lamp can also be made at the Parish Office. The suggested donation is $25.
Martha Mary Guild Meeting All are Welcome as we pay tribute to America’s Best…our Armed Forces!!! Please join us in prayer and song for our November 8, 2023 Meeting which is a tribute to our soldiers: men, women, Army, Navy, Marines, National Guard, Coast Guard, and Space Force, both retired and active. We are pleased to have Major Katelyn Campbell from the New Jersey National Guard come to speak! Following our tribute to the Veterans, we will have our Annual Fashion Show. All members are invited to model their fabulous finds that they purchased at our Clothing Sale and walk down the runway. Don’t be shy! Lastly, we are collecting for the Marine’s Toys for Tots Foundation! We will have a LOCAL IMPACT since we are collecting for the RED BANK chapter CLB-25. Please bring your unwrapped NEW TOYS for TODDLERS through AGE 15 to the Martha Mary Meeting on November 8. Suggested items include: Barbies, Action Figures, Games, Dolls, Cars, Legos, Puzzles, Sports Equipment, Jewelry etc. Don’t forget the older kids who are often overlooked. We may need volunteers to help us deliver to a central location in Colts Neck. What a beautiful way to kick off the Holiday Season! Refreshments will be served and enjoyed. Come and celebrate and bring a friend! Cohort parishes are always welcomed!
