The Solemnity of Christ the King was instituted by Pope Pius XI with the encyclical Quas primas (in the first). Key elements of faith that we celebrate today include:
Jesus is the Word of God made flesh, the Incarnate Lord. His kingship is founded upon the ineffable hypostatic union… Jesus is fully God and fully man. Jesus shares a law of charity to show the way to communion with God. Those who keep them show their love for their Divine Master, and he promises that they shall remain in his love. The Church acknowledges the reign of Christ, not only privately, but publicly. Thus by sermons preached at meetings and in churches, by public adoration of the Blessed Sacrament exposed and by solemn processions, men unite in paying homage to Christ, whom God has given them for their King.
This year, we will have a period of eucharistic exposition and adoration following the 10am Mass. The practice of eucharistic devotion can be traced back to the late 1500s, later codified by Clement XI in 1705 and reaffirmed in the documents of the Second Vatican Council. The exposition of the holy eucharist offers the opportunity to the people of God for prayerful reflection on their call to a deeper devotion and a more faithful living of Christian life. Prayer before Christ present in the eucharist extends the union of Christ and his Church and calls to mind the covenant between God and man. Please consider joining us for adoration, which will conclude with Benediction at 12 noon.
Andrew Dung-Lac, Priest and Martyr, c. 1795-1839 Saint Andrew Dung-Lac and his 116 companions represent the more than one hundred thousand martyrs killed during the persecutions of Christians which took place periodically beginning in the 17th century and running though most of the 19th century in Viet Nam. These 117 martyrs, who included bishops, priests, missionaries from France and Spain, lay catechists, and even children, were beatified by four different popes between 1900 and 1951. Rite of Welcome The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or RCIA (also known as the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, OCIA) is the process through which adults’ journey while seeking full communion with the Catholic Church. RCIA is not a class, it is a process to come to know and love the Lord and to develop a relationship with God and the body of Christ, the Catholic Church. Individuals grow in readiness to experience the richness of the faith and the invitation to the sanctifying Grace of the Sacraments. This journey is marked by certain rites along the way both for the individuals and for us, the members of the Body of Christ. The timing of these various rites marks the candidate’s readiness to take the next step and invite our prayerful support as members of their parish family. These Rites help us live the call of our faith to “go and make disciples.” This week at the 12:00 noon Mass, we celebrate the Rite of Welcome, a public display of the desire of these individuals to join the Church. We welcome Kimberly and Christopher Cascone to cross the threshold and enter the Church. The Candidates are introduced to the rest of the faithful and asked what they desire of God’s Church. They answer, reception into the full communion of the Catholic Church. They declare they intention and commitment to the Catholic Church. We accompany them with prayerful support. Pray for their continued patience, strength, and trust in the Lord. May they continue to grow in personal relationship with Christ. The RCIA/OCIA journey is for anyone seeking greater understanding of the Catholic Church and relationship with God. Light Up A Memory The Light Up A Memory ceremony will take place after the 4:00 PM Mass on Saturday, December 16. It is that time to decide who you would like to remember on our Parish's Beautiful "Memory Tree"! A donation of $10.00 per light will honor a loved one (living or deceased), and the lights will shine until the Christmas season is over on Epiphany. It is so touching to hear the children of our Religious Ed. Program each year singing hymns with the congregation during the lighting ceremony. There will be a special Memory Book on display in the Church Gathering Space, where all the names will be inscribed. Each $10 donation also entitles the donor to get a card to send to the family of the deceased or to the honoree. Cards can be picked up at the parish office. Fall Clean-Up 2023
A big THANK YOU to the 80+ volunteers who helped us with our Fall Grounds Clean-up!!
For 4 hours we raked leaves, picked up branches and twigs, piled up leaves on the road for township pick up, took Christmas decorations from garages and removed umbrellas from courtyard. All of this would have not been possible with all your help. Many hands make light work! Please be mindful of the upcoming volunteering opportunities for service hours. See page 7.

Study Theology at Georgian Court University! All programs can be completed remotely. Master of Arts or a Graduate Certificate in Theology, with concentrations in Pastoral Ministry or Mercy Spirituality. Not sure?
