Sanctuary Lamp Consider offering a Sanctuary Lamp that burns in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament in our Church or Chapel in memory of a deceased loved one or in honor of a living person (for birthdays, anniversaries, sickness, etc.). Giving Thanks
The origins of our Thanksgiving holiday can be traced back to long before the “first Thanksgiving”. Early cultures such as the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans had periodic feasts and festivals which paid tribute to their gods after a bountiful harvest. The Jewish holiday of Sukkot, commonly known as the “Feast of Gathering” or “Feast of Tabernacles” is a week-long celebration in late September / early October, which marked the end of harvest time and also serves to remind the Jewish of the Israelite’s Exodus from Egypt, and their reliance on God for their journey, and to give thanks to the Lord for his goodness. The Native Americans also celebrated harvest time, and both the Separatist and Puritan settlers brought traditions of fasting in times of tribulation or penitence and feasting in times of abundance to give thanks to God. Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in US Catholic churches, with its own selection of readings and propers. Many towns often hold ecumenical services and other interfaith gatherings where differences in belief systems are put aside, and we celebrate our commonalities. In our community, we partner annually with the Colts Neck Reformed Church to come together, pray together, and give thanks to God for the blessing He has bestowed upon us. We do know, however, that a strong devotion to Saint Cecilia began toward the end of the fifth century. Cecilia (or Cecily) was born in Rome, the daughter of patrician parents, and was raised as a Christian. When of a suitable age, she was married against her will to Valerian. After their marriage, she converted Valerian and his brother, Tiburtius, to Christianity. Valerian and Tiburtius devoted themselves to good works until they were arrested by the Roman prefect, Almachius. Spreading Christmas Cheer!!!
MMG The Martha Mary Guild is planning a special meeting on Wednesday, December 13 - with the emphasis on the joy of Christmas. Our Pastoral Coordinator for Worship and Music, Andrew J. Macirowski, will lead everyone in Christmas Carols to set the holiday spirit. What's more fun than a "Sing-a-long"!?! Another very important aspect of this meeting is our annual collection of baby clothes, diapers and other items for Birthright. It's always so heartwarming to see the array of gifts from our generous members! All women of the parish and our Cohort parishes are cordially invited to join us at 11:30 AM for the rosary, followed by BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch), with delicious desserts supplied by the Guild. The wonderful Songfest will start at 12:30 PM.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or RCIA (also known as the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, OCIA) is the process through which adults’ journey while seeking full communion with the Catholic Church. RCIA is not a class, it is a process to come to know and love the Lord and to develop a relationship with God and the body of Christ, the Catholic Church. Individuals grow in readiness to experience the richness of the faith and the invitation to the sanctifying Grace of the Sacraments. This journey is marked by certain rites along the way both for the individuals and for us, the members of the Body of Christ. The timing of these various rites marks the candidate’s readiness to take the next step and invite our prayerful support as members of their parish family. These Rites help us live the call of our faith to “go and make disciples.” This week at the 12:00 noon Mass, we celebrate the Rite of Welcome, a public display of the desire of these individuals to join the Church. We welcome Kimberly and Christopher Cascone to cross the threshold and enter the Church. The Candidates are introduced to the rest of the faithful and asked what they desire of God’s Church. They answer, reception into the full communion of the Catholic Church. They declare they intention and commitment to the Catholic Church. We accompany them with prayerful support. Pray for their continued patience, strength, and trust in the Lord. May they continue to grow in personal relationship with Christ.

Our Advent Pancake Breakfast is officially back since 2019!!!!!!! December 17, starting at 8:00AM, we will be joining together for some delicious breakfast and pancakes in Madonna Hall. If you can recall, our annual tradition stopped a few years ago due to Covid-19 restrictions. In celebration of our 3rd Sunday of Advent (Gaudete Sunday). To RSVP, quickly fill out the form HERE. Light Up A Memory The Light Up A Memory ceremony will take place after the 4:00 PM Mass on Saturday, December 16. It is that time to decide who you would like to remember on our Parish's Beautiful "Memory Tree"! A donation of $10.00 per light will honor a loved one (living or deceased), and the lights will shine until the Christmas season is over on Epiphany. It is so touching to hear the children of our Religious Ed. Program each year singing hymns with the congregation during the lighting ceremony. There will be a special Memory Book on display in the Church Gathering Space, where all the names will be inscribed. Each $10 donation also entitles the donor to get a card to send to the family of the deceased or to the honoree. Cards can be picked up at the parish office. The deadline to submit THIS FORM is Monday, December 4. Thank you for participating in this wonderful parish tradition.
The Tree of Love has made its debut this year as of last weekend and will continue until the beginning of December. Tags will be on the tree for children's toys and gifts for nursing home residents. Missionary Childhood Association
ADVENT Mite Boxes The purpose of the Missionary Childhood Association is to encourage all children to be aware of the needs of children living in mission dioceses through the world and support them both spiritually and sacrificially. Today it is in 110 countries and helps make Jesus known to children all over the world. Please take a mite box home with you and have your child fill it with loose change throughout Advent. Once filled, please count the amount inside, write a check to St Mary Parish with “MCA” in the memo line and we as a parish will forward the full amount to the Mission Office. For the month of November It is the Church’s custom to reserve the month of November for the remembrance of all the faithful departed. Please use your All Souls envelope to write the names of those loved ones you would like to remember and kindly drop it in the collection boxes. The envelopes will be wrapped and placed near the tabernacle, and an intention will be added to the prayer of the faithful in the Masses celebrated on All Souls Day and during the month of November. Purchase gifts for a family. You select the size of the family you wish to sponsor (2-6 people). Several families or a group of people can sponsor a larger family. Gifts per person are usually a value of $50 and based on a list
