The Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord is transferred from Thursday, May 13, 2021 to Sunday, May 16, 2021, replacing the Seventh Sunday of Easter. This change is only for the present year and will be evaluated at a provincial meeting. This includes the transfer of the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord for both Saturday Vigil Mass, Sunday Masses of the Day and the Liturgy of Hours. The celebration of Mass in the Extraordinary Form will observe the liturgical calendar proper to that form.

Religious Education Fall 2021-2022 This is for grades 1-6 and is from September 2021 through April 2022. 1st and 2nd graders are on campus and have a choice of: Tuesday 4:30-5:40 pm OR 5:50-7 pm 3rd - 6th graders have weekly virtual LIVE classes through Google Classroom. The two choices are: Tuesday 4:30-5:30 OR Wednesday 6-7 pm Early Registration is $200 and ends May 2nd Regular Registration is $250 and ends on June 1st Registrants after close date ( June 1) will be subject to availability and a late fee of $50/child.

We recommend doing it as a family on Mother's Day. DIRECTIONS Decorate an outside altar (weather permitting, otherwise inside) where you have placed a statue of Mary. Make a crown of flowers that will fit the statue. Let the smallest child carry the crown and give everyone else a flower to be placed in a vase on the altar. Tell the children that the flower is a symbol of their love for their heavenly Mother. You can line up in a procession and sing a Marian hymn ("Bring Flowers of the Fairest" is a suggestion) as you process to the altar. After the crowning you can recite the rosary. Finish with dessert and games.

Quo vadis… My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Fifth Sunday of Easter. In the first reading the disciples were afraid to relate to Saul because of his past reputation for persecuting Christians. Barnabas, a member of the community, took Paul under his wings and witnessed to the community on his behalf. In this way was Paul accepted so he could preach the word. Part of our living the paschal mystery—its dying and rising—is that we help others who have made mistakes and perhaps developed a bad reputation to reenter the good graces of the family or workplace or wherever. Part of our pruning is dying to our prejudices towards others and allowing them to grow in their relationship with the risen Christ. Their growth is also our growth, a deeper share in resurrected life. This weekend we begin the month of May which has been a time of spiritual reflection on the life of Mary, Mother of Jesus & wife of Joseph. There mare many titles ascribed to the Blessed Mother, chiefly among them is First Disciple of Jesus, Mother of the Church, Queen of the Apostles and Seat of Wisdom. Immediately following the Saturday 5:00pm mass we will recess to the narthex for a brief ceremony during which we will crown the image of the Blessed Mother located there. I am grateful to all those who have assisted in the preparations so that we might keep these customs of our Church. We have received a communique from His Excellency, The Most Reverend Bishop of Trenton as a suffragan bishop in the Province of Newark that His Eminence, The Metropolitan Archbishop of Newark, following consultation, has announced (for this year…?) that the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord will be observed throughout our province on the Sunday preceding Pentecost (that is replacing the Seventh Sunday of Easter) for this year. This practice is the norm in much of our country and many other places throughout the world. Thank you for your patience, cooperation and understanding. I am often asked why is it important to be registered and active in the parish? My response was to remind those who ask of how blessed we are, how much we have received from those who have gone before us and how much we receive even now in our time. It is so very important for us to be mindful of this and to give back.
As Catholic Christians the first thing that we give is our prayer and worship of God. The most basic expression of this is when we gather for the Eucharist (mass). Where?...In our parish church. When we belong (are registered and active…bona fide) we become stakeholders in the mission of the Church and our parish is where that happens daily. We are not simply wanderers from place to place…and/or chasing various priests from assignment to assignment. We invest ourselves into this mission and as such we meet new people and sometimes life-long friendships blossom. This is an awesome witness to our children and young people. Sometimes we need things: a certificate for sponsorship, testimony for other purposes, access to the sacraments. It is so important that we are responsible, mature adults who register and are active in our parish where we live or sometimes where we choose to belong. That is why we have parishes throughout the counties of our diocese to serve you and your family. If you come to our parish regularly, are not registered in a parish already, want to become a part of our parish; then consider registering and sharing your stewardship (Time, Talent & Treasure) to aid the church in fulfilling its mission in our midst. When we believe we are truly blessed and that Jesus suffered, died, and rose for us this would not even be an issue…all we need to do is think about it…pray about it…and then act in a responsible and mature manner. As we approach the summer months, remember that we have air-conditioning systems in church building and we use it to provide maximum comfort and a stable range of temperature. Therefore, you may dress accordingly. I am so impressed by the manner in which many of our parishioners come dressed for Sunday Worship. Also, this is a good time to remind everyone that care should be taken when arriving for mass and remaining until the final blessing. Our services are not lengthy here in 07722. We strive to begin on time. Your arrival on time adds to the prayerful environment that we strive to maintain when celebrating the Eucharist together. Remaining until the final blessing is a sign of prayerful support for the entire assembly and a reminder that we all need the blessings of the mass and the prayerful support of one another. Pope to launch 30-day Rosary relay led by 30 shrines, for end of pandemic
St. Joseph by the Sea Retreat House, South Mantoloking, is looking for a part-time cook as soon as possible.
The Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization announced that the pope will launch on May 1 a 30-day Rosary relay. Thirty shrines spread around the world will take turns leading the Rosary, for the intention of the end of the pandemic.
