Holy Week in the Year 2021 This year’s Holy Week observances will be slightly different than in years past, as we continue to adapt to our ever-changing world. Please make note of the following. Palm Sunday - Palms will be blest privately and available for the taking as the assembly exits the church building. Chrism Mass - The Mass will be held without a congregation and will be live-streamed. See the Diocesan website for more information. Holy Thursday - Mass of the Lord’s Supper - The reception of oils and washing of feet is suspended this year. At the conclusion of the Mass, the Blessed Sacrament will be reposed in the parish hall chapel, but there will be no procession. Private adoration in the chapel is permitted and encouraged. Good Friday - There is no morning prayer this year. Commemoration of the Passion at 12 will include the veneration of the cross, the faithful are asked to bow or kneel at the cross, as touching, kissing, etc are not permitted this year. Outdoor stations will also occur, weather permitting. Holy Saturday - Morning prayer with blessing of food will take place, followed by the decoration of the church. The Easter Vigil will begin with the assembly seated in the church, omitting the customary blessing of fire and subsequent procession. There will be no sprinkling rite, but we we still renew our baptismal promises. The same is true for Easter Sunday. At all occasions, please do your best to follow the guidelines regarding physical distance. Masks and hand-sanitizing are required.

Exit the chapel through the opposite door, and proceed into the church for your penance. Kneel in a pew, say the Act of Contrition, and pray your penance. When you have finished, please maintain silence and exit through the narthex.

2021-2022 Religious Education Families must be registered active parishioners whose children have been in the Religious Education program for at least one year (with the possible exception of first grader families). This includes the New Parishioner Orientation meeting. Copies of each student’s Baptismal certificate and record of previously completed Religious Education classes (if applicable) and Offered in January 2021 at registering in our program for sacraments must be received by the office when the firstMary time. the Parish of Saint Please be aware that children entering grades 2-8 in Sept 2021 must have completed and passed their previous Religious Education grade work before they can be registered for the next school year. Additionally registration/class enrollment will not be processed until all paperwork is in the office. Returning Students who do not have a copy of their Baptismal Certificate on file in the office WILL NOT be secured in a class for the 2021 - 2022 term.

Quo vadis… My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate The Fifth Sunday of Lent. We see Jesus by being Jesus. It is that simple! And that is challenging. We do not enter the paschal mystery as the dying and rising rhythm of our Christian living apart from Jesus. When we do take up the cross and die— not in the physical sense but by laying down our lives in service—we are able to see that the cross is one of glory. We see Jesus in those who lay down their life in servanthood and others see Jesus in us when we are servants. We must take care that others see not just the dying, but also the glory. What a seeing!
friends, don’t get flustered if there is someone in “your seat”; be gracious and hospitable to those who may not be familiar to you; introduce yourself and offer a word of welcome. We will be adding extra seating throughout the nave of the church building so that you may spread out as best as you can. These simple courtesies are one way in which we become what we celebrate in Eucharist. Don’t ever discount the power of simple random acts of kindness in our midst.
This weekend we will come together to receive the mercy of God in the Sacrament of Penance & Reconciliation. Sunday at 3:00 pm we will welcome 11 or so priest confessors to serve our parish needs. I encourage all to participate as we prepare for the Great Solemnity of Easter. It is especially important that families come together for this service. It is important for children that they become more familiarized with how to go to confession. It is important for adults to model for their children how to go to confession. Our church encourages us to go to confession as part of our Easter Duty. Thank you for making the time in your very hectic schedules for the celebration of God’s Grace in the Sacrament of Penance & Reconciliation.
Our thanks go out to all those who have been preparing our worship sites for Holy Week, the Triduum, and Easter. Many hands make for easier burdens. We are finalizing the schedule of participants in these sacred rites. Thanks to all for your generous Stewardship of Time and Talent. Please review the Holy Week Schedule mailed directly to all of our registered parishioners. Put it in a convenient place in your home for easy reference. Plan to participate in the liturgies of our parish supporting one another in prayer as we recall the great central mysteries of our faith. Invite family members or friends to come with you to our parish church…especially those who may feel alienated or marginalized from the Catholic Community. This is a very simple way in which you can be evangelizers… reminding those around you of God’s presence in our time.
Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion & Death is observed next weekend. I am so grateful that we are able to come together for the Eucharist and to listen to the Solemn Proclamation of the Passion. Palm will be distributed to all at the conclusion of each Mass and will be blessed prior to the Mass. Please make an extra effort to arrive 5 minutes before the Mass is scheduled to begin so that you may locate a seat. We may experience a few more folks at the regular Sunday Masses. So, if I may suggest: plan to arrive a few moments earlier; car pool with
