Notes on Physical Distancing at Mass When attending Mass, whether it be for Sunday/Saturday, weekday, a funeral or wedding, it is important that the proper physical distancing guidelines are followed. What does this mean exactly?
6 feet of space ON ALL SIDES between your immediate social cohort (family or others you spend plenty of time with) and others. When choosing a seat in a pew, this entails not sitting directly in front of, behind, or next to another person unless they are part of your group.
Proceed directly to a pew when entering the nave; do not wander or socialize with others or block the aisles
Maintain 6 feet of space when in line for Holy Communion.
When Mass has ended, maintain that same physical distance as you and your family exit the church building.
Therefore we encourage our congregants to arrive early and use their best judgement when finding a proper place to sit, and thank them for your cooperation. There is also a need for volunteers to clean the wooden pew tops after each Mass, both weekend and weekday. Many hands make light work and assistance is greatly appreciated.
Make a conscious decision to hang around people who inspire you to holiness. Then, watch as you grow. Jon Leonetti

EXPECTATIONS AS WE GATHER FOR MASS Enter via the front doors of the Church Each person is wearing their mask and to observe social distancing when entering/exiting, selecting a seat, & processing/recessing to receive Holy Communion. It will require all to come earlier than usual to search for seating that observes social distancing. Masks and Social/Physical distancing are required. There can be no physical collection of Stewardship Offerings; A designated box(es) will be placed in the Narthex/Gathering Space for the placement of envelopes or offerings. Thank you for your generosity. Missals, Missalettes, Bulletins, and other papers have been removed. Holy Water has been drained from all locations. Parish Clergy will distribute Holy Communion; we ask all coming forth to observe distancing front to back and side to side. We have been advised that socializing before or after the Mass inside or outside is to be discouraged; clergy are not permitted to greet parishioners before or after the Mass. NOTE: For those Catholic faithful that need to consider any possible health and safety risks involved with attending a public gathering the weekend Mass will be available online. see below Monday through Friday 9 am Daily Mass in the chapel in the Parish Hall. Thank you for putting up with all of this so that we can re-convene our liturgical prayer and sacramental life in a socially responsible way. For all parishioners: Congregating before and after Mass is prohibited, as per the bishop. There will be no children’s liturgy of the word dismissal. Volunteers are greatly needed to wipe down the wood of the pews after all Masses (weekend and
weekday). We will have a cleaning crew take care of the floors, bathrooms etc, but need this little bit of additional help. Please contact Andrew if you are able. At weekday Masses, no one is to arrive prior to 8:30 AM. All Masses will be in the Chapel in the Parish Hall. Exposition remains suspended for now. Private adoration of the Blessed Sacrament reserved in the tabernacle is welcomed and encouraged at any time.

Quo vadis… My Dear Parishioners: This weekend we celebrate the Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Most of us will not have the experience of Peter—nothing in our human experience leads us to expect that we will ever walk on water! But that is not the goal of faith or of Christian living. Worship is. The real challenge is to see in this gospel the way we might encounter Jesus in our everyday lives—not as One walking on water, but as One who dwells in the other in need. In a sense, then, our paschal mystery living reverses the roles and we are the ones called to see Jesus in anyone who is calling out for help, anyone who seems to be “drowning” in the chaos of everyday living, anyone who cries out to be saved. In this reversed situation the homage doesn’t come to us for any good we might do, but our response to those in need is an act of homage of the God whom we serve in the other. It takes more faith to see Jesus in the other than to walk on water! This, because it demands a great self-emptying on our part to see dignity in those in need. But this is also the glimpse of the life that comes out of our dying—serving another is an encounter with Jesus, the One who saves. Next weekend we observe the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saturday, 15 August. Mass will be celebrated at 9 am in the church. This solemnity is also the principal Patron of the Diocese of Trenton. Let us pray in a special way for His Excellency, The Most Reverend Bishop of Trenton, and all those who serve the People of God in Central New Jersey. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary may we continue to grow in holiness and service.
Usually we welcome a visiting missionary as part of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith Missionary Co-Operation Plan. These missionaries inform us of the great work they are doing to spread our Roman Catholic Faith throughout the world. This year it has been decided to suspend these visits due to the pandemic. Let us keep them in our prayer. Our 2nd module of Summer Intensive Religious Education is underway. Let us pray for the children, their catechists and their parents. Survey results from July session are both encouraging and helpful to assist in future planning. Last week our parish finance council had its quarterly in person meeting. We completed our review of the Fiscal Year; reviewed the budget for the current fiscal year; reviewed the Annual Catholic Appeal and Faith to Move Mountains Diocesan Campaigns; Sunday Stewardship Offerings during this pandemic and as we move forward. I am grateful to these bona fide parishioners for their counsel and expertise. We will continue the weekly broadcast Mass for the coming months as His Excellency, The Most Reverend Bishop of Trenton has extended the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. We continue to rigorously enforce participation norms as we gather for Mass each week. Thanks to all for their cooperation. Have a great week. Let us remember one another in prayer. Peace. Catholic Charities News You’re invited to the Catholic Charities inaugural Guardian Angel Benefit of Hope virtual event on Wednesday September 30, 2020 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
Story: Charlie Brown and Snoopy are sitting in a chair watching TV. Charlie Brown holds the remote and turns to Snoopy and says “Wouldn’t it be nice if life were like a DVD and you could fast- forward through the crummy times!” Nice indeed, but not realistic. Ask someone who has weathered the storm of a spouse’s unemployment or depression. Ask parents who have accompanied their son or daughter through a long-term illness and multiple hospitalizations. Within the sacrament of marriage and, as Pope Francis calls it, “the vocation of the family,” disciples of Jesus Christ are called to love one another as God loves us. We are called to have courage in good times and bad, in sickness and in health. In Matthew’s Gospel, let’s not forget, Jesus gets in the boat. When we love each other that’s where we belong. (See The Joy of Love, The Word Among Us Press, 2016, pgs. 51-72.) Practice being still and silent this week. Find a time each day to sit and be still. Practice silence.
