HAZEL IRENE BUSHMAN
MONTICELLO, IN - FORMERLY OF FRANCESVILLE, IN - Hazel Irene (Crowe) Bushman, 91, died at 9:50am, Monday, May 18, 2026 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello, Indiana. She was born May 6, 1935 in Decatur, Illinois to the late Perry Jenner and Mary Ann (Adams) Crowe, Sr. On April 3, 1960 in Decatur, she married Richard Eugene Bushman. He died May 8, 2018.
Hazel completed nursing school in Champaign, Illinois and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She enjoyed nursing and retired from Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville. She was an active member of Paul’s Chapel Church in Winamac, Indiana. She enjoyed Sundays spent with family and friends at church.
She is survived by one daughter, Faith D. Keller of Fishers, Indiana, three sons: Phillip E. (Sandy) Bushman of Camden, Indiana, Daniel E. Bushman of Brookston, Indiana and Timothy E. (Donna) Bushman of Winamac, fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one sister, Vivian L. Spain of Decatur. She was preceded in death by siblings: Perry Jenner Crowe, Jr., Barbara Jean Lynch and Lola Laverne Challans.
Services were held Thursday, May 21 at Frain Mortuary with Pastor Phillip Messer officiating. Burial was in Paul’s Chapel Cemetery in Winamac. Memorials may be made to Paul’s Chapel Cemetery Fund.
Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
DANNY LEE WHYBREW
March 18, 1939 – May 16, 2026
Our hearts smile as we remember Danny L. Whybrew, age 87, of Nappanee, who returned home to be in the arms of Jesus on Saturday May 16, 2026 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, surrounded by his family. Danny was born in North Judson, Indiana on March 18, 1939 to Elmer and Edna Whybrew.
As a U.S. Marine veteran, Danny served his country with honor and integrity. After his Honorable Discharge, he became an English teacher in Japan, dedicating over a decade to inspiring students. There he met and married Kinoko Odanaka and they shared 35 years of marriage. They would move back to the U.S. and the couple would make their home in North Judson. Danny worked as a correctional officer for over 21 years. A faithful believer in Jesus his whole life, he most recently attended the Apostolic Christian Church in Milford.
Danny loved being outdoors. You could find him gardening, tending to his fruits or working on his landscaping. He enjoyed going for long walks, being with his family and loved a good meal. He would drop everything to help anyone in need and did the same for animals.
Danny had a love and an “open door” policy for all animals and God’s creatures, feeding many or tending to their needs.
He would move to Syracuse in 2018 to be closer to his family. Despite facing numerous health challenges, Danny leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, integrity, all grounded in his commitment to family and faith.
He was a devoted father to Emily (Kevin) Fuller of Milford; grandfather to 6: Amber (Kyle) Hunsberger, Sebashtian (Mackenzie) Warrick, Chandaire (Silver) Schuler, Jordan (Huntley) Davis, Chase (Kaila) Fuller and Blake (Stephanie) Fuller; and great-grandfather to 14.
Danny was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kinoko in 1995, his parents, and 4 siblings.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Beer officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in North Judson, Indiana. Memorial contributions can be made to Animal Welfare League, 1048 S. 325 E., Pierceton, IN 46562.
