NORMA J. MANN

KNOX, IN - Norma J. Mann, 66, died Thursday, August 7, 2025 in Knox, Indiana. She was born January 12, 1959 in Knox, to the late Charles and Ella (Smith) McFarland. On October 24, 1981 in Knox, she married Lynn Mann.

Norma had worked as a Production Manager for Rockwell Windows.

She is survived by her husband, Lynn, one daughter, Lisa (Michael) Short of Morristown, Indiana, one grandson and one brother, James McFarland of Knox. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Aubele.

Graveside services were held Saturday, August 16, at the Round Lake Cemetery in Knox, with Rev. Bruce Bennett officiating.

Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox.

MICHAEL RALPH TIMM

WINAMAC, IN - FORMERLY OF MEDARYVILLE, IN - Michael

Ralph Timm, 68, died Monday, August 11, 2025 at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac, Indiana. He was born October 13, 1956 in Winamac to the late Ralph D. and Mary Catherine (Reed) Timm.

Michael was a 1975 graduate of West Central High School and attended Ft. Wayne Business College. He retired from FRATCO in Francesville, Indiana after 30 years. He was an active member of the Medaryville Assembly of God Church, where he served faithfully for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by two brothers: Larry (Ruth) Timm of Greencastle, Indiana and Eugene (Pamela) Timm of Medaryville. He was preceded in death by his step father, Wade Fulmer.

Services were held Thursday, August 14 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel with Pastor Tom Dewlen officiating. Burial was in the Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition). Memorials may be made to the Medaryville Assemby of God Church.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville.

RAY F. KWASNY

KNOX, IN - Ray F. Kwasny, 74, died Sunday, August 10, 2025. He was born February 11, 1951 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Frederick and Jean Kwasny.

Over his working career, Ray had worked as both a draftsman for a steel mill and had been a drummer for several bands including: Midnight Express, The Other Side, Honey and the Hoosiers, Academy of Rock and Peace and Love and Happiness to name a few.

He is survived by his wife, Patti, two daughters: Rosie (Mark) Rafalski of Valparaiso, Indiana and April (Patrick) Flickinger of Burr Ridge, Illinois, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one brother, Dave Kwasny of Munster, Indiana. He was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Nelson.

Services were held Thursday, August 14, at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Burial was in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox.

Arrangements were made by M.C. Smith in Knox.

ELNORA ANN GIRTON

CULVER, IN - FORMERLY OF MONTEREY, IN - Elnora Ann (Walters) Girton, 83, died at 7:02am on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Culver, Indiana. She was born October 28, 1941 in Winamac, Indiana to the late Earl Ivan and Clara Viola (Gilsinger) Walters. Elnora was a 1960 graduate of Monterey High School. She worked many years at Eaton’s in Winamac and as a phone operator prior to that. She loved adventure and moved to Arizona then Texas and then back to Indiana. She was diagnosed with dementia in her mid to late 60’s and was always taking notes to help her remember. She is survived by two daughters: Cindy (Mark) Jirjis of Lacon, Illinois and Lisa A. (Susan) Girton-Shipp of Dallas, Texas, five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two sisters: Loretta Nester of Falls Church, Virginia and JoAnn P. Hero of Monterey, Indiana. She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas R. Girton, five sisters: Jean M. Napierkowski, Lorraine V. Rosenau, Mary E. Walters, Karen E. Floyd and Birdena D. “Wendy” Pearce, six brothers: John E. Walters, Sr., Stanley E. Walters, Ralph P. Walters, Jerry L. Walters. Billy D. Walters and Donald P. Walters and her former spouse, Albert R. Girton.

Private entombment will he at Riverside Memorial Cemetery in Monterey. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

ERNEST RAYMOND PRATER

MEDARYVILLE, IN - Ernest Raymond Prater, 68, died Wednesday, August 13, 2025, after a brave fight with cancer. He was born June 13, 1957 in Rensselaer, Indiana.

Ray was a 1975 graduate of Kankakee Valley High School and then followed in his father’s footsteps as a union laborer and later worked at Sealy Springs. He also operated his own roofing business along side his brother-in-law. His greatest joy in life was being a father and a papaw.

He is survived by two daughters: Nicole (Justin) Burns and Mary (Cory Schleman) Prater, four grandchildren, one great grandson and two brothers: Raleigh Helton and James (Michelle) Prater. He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Prater, his mother, Judith Banks, one sister, Opal Sue Craft and four brothers: Ronnie Prater, Thom Helton, Oliver Junior Prater and Randy Prater.

A celebration of life was held on Monday, August 18 at the Amazing Grace Fellowship Church in Francesville, Indiana. Burial was in the Rensselaer Memory Gardens Cemetery in Rensselaer. Memorials may be made to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.

Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac, Indiana.

JOYCE VIRGINIA McKINLEY

WINAMAC, IN - Joyce Virginia (Widup) McKinley, 88, lifelong resident and business woman, died Friday, August 15, 2025. She was born September 25, 1936 in Winamac and raised by her maternal grandparents. On September 20, 1968 in Winamac, she married Charles L. “Charlie” McKinley. He died on July 5, 2020. Joyce was a 1954 graduate of Winamac High School. She and Charlie owned and operated McKinley Monuments in Winamac for 40 years. She was always an active member of the community and enjoyed making a difference wherever she could. She was a member of the Winamac Alumni Association, where she served as president as well as historian. She was also a member of the Winamac American Legion Post #71 Auxiliary and the Winamac VFW Post #1728 Auxiliary and a 50 year member of the Crystal OES #165, having served as a Past Worthy Matron (9 times), Past Deputy for District 19 and as a Grand Representative to Nebraska. In 2020, she received her Award of Gold. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winamac where she served as a Deaconess and on the funeral dinner committee. She was also a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship (now defunct). She was recognized last year as a Deacon Emeritus. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends and church family. She will be missed.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen J. Crist of Winamac, two step daughters: Catherine M. McKinley of Naples, Florida and Susanna C. McKinley of South Bend, Indiana one son, Charles Michael (Debra) Needham of Logansport, Indiana and one step son, Daniel L. (Anna) McKinley of Winamac, fifteen grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and four brothers: Robert M. Widup and William C.R. (Deborah) Widup, both of Winamac, John Joseph (Cheryl) Widup of Valparaiso, Indiana and B. Karl (Jeanne) Widup of Rohnert Park, California. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ethel and Robert Johnson, her parents, Harold W. “Bud” and Virginia M. (Johnson) Widup, one son, James W. Needham, one sister, Kay Widup, one brother, George Widup and her former husband, Charles R. Needham.

Visitation will be from 4-8pm EDT on Friday, August 22, at Frain Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 11am EDT on Saturday, August 23 at the funeral home with Pastor Stephen Sundquist officiating. Burial will be in the Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition). Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or Heart to Heart Hospice.

ROBERT LEON ULERY

STAR CITY, IN - Robert Leon Ulery, 98, died Wednesday, August 13, 2025 in Crawfordville, Florida. He was born July 26, 1927 in North Manchester, Indiana to the late Frank O. and Freda (Anderson) Ulery. On May 23, 1981, in Carrabelle, Florida, he married Phebe Elizabeth “Liz” Gunion. She died August 23, 2022. Leon was a founding member of the Star City Community Church but was active in other local churches. He was a talented singer who enjoyed using his gift to praise the Lord and bless others. He proudly served in the US Army Band during WWII. He had been a truck driver but also owned is own refrigeration repair business for many years. He was active with the Star City Lions Club for many years. He is survived by one son, Danny Lee (Sandra) Ulery of Pinnacle, North Carolina, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and one sister, Betty Marie Behnken of Muncie, Indiana. He was preceded in death by two sons: John Robert Ulery and Bryan Smith, one daughter, Susan Pollock and two sisters: Louise Shivley Daggett and Evelyn Norris. Visitation will be from 5-7pm EDT on Thursday, August 28 at Frain Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10am EDT on Friday, August 29, at the funeral home with Chaplain Tim Lee officiating, with burial at 2pm at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in North Manchester. Memorials may be made to the Star City Community Church. Arrangements were made by Frain Mortuary in Winamac, Indiana.

VIRGINIA LEE CLEMONS

KNOX, IN - Virginia Lee Clemons, 87, died Sunday, August 17, 2025 in Knox, Indiana. She was born February 27, 1938 in Knox to the late Coy Allen and Lucy (Salyers) Cole.

Virginia was a member of the Living Water Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, church functions, bake sales, helping others and spending time with her family.

She is survived by three sons: Gary (Robin) Clemons, Anthony (Angela) Clemons and Adam Clemons, one daughter, Charlene Decker, all of Knox, twenty grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren, thirteen great great grandchildren and six siblings: Guy (Kerry) Cole of Murphysboro, Illinois, Garrel (Peggy) Cole of North Judson, Indiana, Coy (Connie) Allen Jr. of Staton, Michigan, Maxine Wiggins of Wayne, Michigan, Donna (Kurt) Ellis of Springfield, Ohio and Lillian (Rick) Brooks of Stanton, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Clemons and siblings: Robert “Bob” Allen, Rev. Ben Allen, John Cole, Edward Cole Jr., Dorothy Clemons, June Allen, Faye Stacy, Gladys DeVault and Shirley Wiggins.

Friends will be received from 10am till time of service at 1pm, with Brother Stephen Allen officiating on Thursday, August 21, at the Braman & Son Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Round Lake Cemetery in Knox. Memorials may be made to your local food pantry in lieu of flowers.

NORTH JUDSON , IN - Services for Eliza Mae Lovins, 71, who died Wednesday, August 6, 2025, will be Saturday, August 23 at 10 am until time of services at 11am at the Denham Freewill Baptist Church. Arrangements were made by Braman & Son Memorial Chapel in Knox, Indiana.
