FUN DISPLAY — Kendel Josey recently had her origami and paper quilling work on display at the Warsaw Community Public Library. The display included a large origami dragon consisting of 422 folded pieces of paper. Photo by Lauren Zeugner. By LAUREN ZEUGNER Associate Editor Anyone visiting the Warsaw Community Public Library during the month of May may have noticed the community display case featuring artwork done by Kendel Josey. Kendel, 14, from Leesburg, has been doing origami and paper quilling for several years. The display case featured a large lizard and an Asian dragon that featured hundreds of small pieces of paper folded into shape. Kendel said both pieces are considered “beginner” pieces when it comes to origami. Also in the case were examples of paper quilling, which involves taking small strips of paper and putting them together to create a picture. Kendel said she started with origami, and has sold some of her work at the Kids Business Expo held every year in North Webster. As a ninthgrader, Kendel is now too old to participate in the Expo, so the library display was the first time people got a chance to see her work in about a year. She received a quilling book in October and has just started experimenting with it. Kendel explained quilling takes more time and isn’t as transportable as origami. She usually has origami paper in her purse that she can fold into a small animal, flower or even a box when she’s feeling anxious.

“Getting over the THIS frustration of learnIS HOW IT’S ing (how to do it) DONE — Kendel Josey was a hurdle. demonstrates how she turns Once she learned a simple piece of paper into a it, it helped with small work of art. Luce ready to take Valley basketball to the next level %\ .(,7+ .1(33 6WDII :ULWHU Joe Luce might have left the bench for a few years, but he never left the gym. Last month, the veteran basketball coach agreed to pick up the whistle again following a three-year stint as an administrator with the Whitko Career Academy in Larwill, a job that didn’t include leading young men onto the hardwood. But that certainly didn’t mean Luce wasn’t in the gym. During that hiatus, he had the opportunity to watch his son, Tommy Luce, play basketball at Purdue University. He also kept up with the game at area high schools and colleges, never letting his passion for the game diminish. “I’m a professional high school basketball coach,” said Luce. “That’s what I’ve done for my career. This is a great opportunity at Tippecanoe Valley and I’m grateful for the support I’ve received from my family.” Luce grew up in Selma, a rural community in east central Indiana. As a student athlete at Wapahani High School, he excelled on the basketball court and the baseball diamond under Hall of Famers Paul Keller and Brian Dudley, respectively. He said Wapahani is a similar

community to Tippecanoe Valley, which he believes will help him to easily transition into his new school. His career began as the freshman coach at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, where he was later promoted to the junior varsity bench. He eventually was named varsity coach at Fountain Central High School in Veedersburg, and later to Benton Central High School, located northwest of Lafayette, which Luce noted is close in size and has a similarly large corporation footprint as Tippecanoe Valley. His success in turning around the Benton Central basketball program earned him recognition as an Indiana District Coach of the Year. Eventually, he followed his whistle to Marion High School, where he led another rebuild and “won a lot of games.” He then tried his hand at college coaching as an assistant at Ball State University but found that his heart was in the high school gymnasium, not the college arena. Luce soon returned to the prep game, accepting the job at Richmond High School where he led the Red Devils to their first semistate since Indiana transitioned to class basketball in 1997. Following his success at Richmond, Luce eventually moved

to Jeffersonville High School, where he coached Tommy during his 2015-16 senior season. After the 2019 season, he hung up his whistle to take the job at Whitko, seemingly leaving behind a storied career as a basketball coach in nearly every corner of the Hoosier state. As fate would have it, however, Luce struck up a friendship with Blaine Conley, the superintendent of the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation. When the job on the Viking bench became available this spring, Conley reached out to Luce, who was eventually offered the job. Luce understands he has big shoes to fill, following the legacy of Bill and Chad Patrick. He added he has great respect for the father-son duo, whose family name has become synonymous with Valley basketball. “I’m really excited about the opportunity to coach at Tippecanoe Valley,” he said. “I’m looking forward to building upon what has been happening with Tippecanoe Valley basketball. I want to continue moving the program forward and raising the expectations by engaging the players and earning their trust.” He and his wife, Karrie, currently live in Roanoke. She is currently employed as a nurs-

United Way distributes hand sanitizer to nonprofits United Way of Whitley and Kosciusko counties distributed more than 15 pallets of hand sanitizer to local nonprofits to make sure every staff member and client stays healthy. The sanitizer was generously donated by Malibu Wellness, and 37 local nonprofits were recipients. “When Malibu called and asked if they could make a donation, we expected a few cases,” said Darren Bickel, United Way president. “When the truck showed up, it had 15 pallets. It was an overwhelming show of generosity.” At the onset of COVID-19, Malibu Wellness switched gears to begin focusing on safe and effective sanitizing solutions, creating liquid and gel hand sanitizers. Through continued outreach, their hand sanitizer has helped nonprofits, health care providers and other industries maintain safe environments. Though extremely generous, the large delivery of hand sanitizer was more than United Way could manage alone. That’s when Nextremity Solutions jumped in to offer their warehouse space for storage and distribution. “Nextremity Solutions believes in providing real support for community initiatives,” said David Temple, executive director. “We are happy to have played a part in the success of United Way’s project. It plays right into our cultural values and we look forward to supporting the community as Medartis going forward.”

of the library display. Kendel has high functioning autism, which gives her incredible focus and vision. She said it’s not unusual for her to spend hours working on an art piece with a cat sitting on her while listening to an audio book, all at the same time. She’s currently working on a paper quilling piece of a tiger that resided at the sanctuary and recently passed away. Kendel has had some interest by people who would like to commission a piece from her, but she’s not sure if she wants

that pressure. Right now her interest is in sharing her art with others by looking for opportunities to display her work. In addition to her art and volunteer work, Kendel also enjoys doing gymnastics with the balance beam being her favorite exercise. Prior to that she did equestrian vaulting at an equestrian center up in Michigan. Kendel has an older brother, Caden, and a younger brother, Caleb, who both have collections of Kendel’s origami. Her dad is Chuck Josey, who is the CFO at Kosciusko Community Hospital.

For example, she made origami boxes that looked like Chinese takeout boxes, put a treat in each of them and then strung them together. Art in Action Weekly Column —

Lakeland Art Association spring show competition winners announced %\ '$5/$ 0&&$0021 DQG '(($11$ 085$6., We will return to our surprise artists series next week. Lakeland Art Association recently had its juried art show. The organization holds the show annually and this year is its 17th year for holding the event, starting in 2005. Fifty-eight pieces were submitted by area artists for the judges to evaluate. Since this is a juried show, not all work is automatically approved to be entered. The qualifications for a juried show vary according to the show. The juror or judge is selected as someone being knowledgeable about art — an artist, someone with an art degree working at a university, museum or gallery owner. Anything the judge questions about the quality of the work will cause it to be rejected before the remainder of the various works are evaluated. So, if your work makes it into a juried show, even if you do not win, consider that an award, pat yourself on the back and keep trying! Kelly Shoemaker on the LAA board provided the results of this year’s contest. The judge was Marcy Aldridge-Adams. AldridgeAdams teaches art and is the art chair at Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne. She earned her master’s in fine art through Saint Francis University in Fort Wayne and master’s in art education from Boston University in Boston. There were five Honorable Mention awards: • Hilarie Couture, “Breaking Free” • Don Wilka, “GMO” • Sunday Mahaja, “The Giver” • Brenda Stichter, “Wellspring” • Sherri Johnson, “California Poppies” Two purchase awards from Truly Original Art Studio were awarded to Sunday Mahaja for “Lake Dancer” and Terry Pully for “Group of Trees.” The top three placements were: • First place, Cinda Culver for “Flowers in Vessel” • Second place, Terre Pulley for “Artist Work” • Third place, Anne Maddox for “Whose turn is it?” The Best in Show award was sponsored by Maple Leaf Farms and the Tucker Family and was won by Heidi Bailey for her whimsical piece, “Sweetening the Deal.” Upcoming Events • Oakwood Fine Arts Festival, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 28,

Diving deep into Kosciusko County’s 100-plus lakes Invention and entrepreneurship have a strong backbone in Kosciusko County. As home to the Orthopedic Capital of the World, leading agribusinesses and a booming recreation sector, the community is known for feeding, healing and restoring, and it’s an optimal place for growth and opportunity. As part of that, what makes Kosciusko County even more of a gem, is its 100-plus lakes. “Kosciusko County is incredibly versatile with its career and quality-of-place offerings. And there’s something so special about how our lakes are woven into the fabric of everyday living here. You can’t travel anywhere in the county without finding a lake nearby,” said Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation CEO Alan Tio. And the lakes make quite a splash in Kosciusko County, with a more than $300 million economic impact each year, according to the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams. “We have over 100 lakes in our county, and we have Lake Wawasee as the biggest natural lake Indiana. Lake Tippecanoe is the deepest natural lake in Indiana, and the Tippecanoe River goes right through the county and is considered one of the Top 10 Streams in the U.S. by The Nature Conservancy,” said Nate Bosch, PH.D, director of the Lilly Center. Complementing and enriching the lakes is the Lilly Center at Grace College in Winona Lake and The Watershed Foundation located in North Webster. Unique to Kosciusko County, the mission of the Lilly Center is to make the freshwater lakes and streams clean, healthy and safe. The organization conducts research, provides valuable resources, engages with and educates residents and businesses and collaborates with local partners.

“Our lakes are truly remarkable for recreation, and all of the lakes in the county have something unique to offer,” Bosch said. Founded in 1997, TWF also takes important action to keep the lakes healthy and clean. TWF focuses on the headwaters of the Tippecanoe River watershed, which spans across counties, covers 236 square miles and contains more than 60 lakes. The mission of TWF is to protect and improve water quality in the lakes and streams of the Upper Tippecanoe River Watershed. “TWF takes action. We identify and fix sources of pollution on the land before they become a problem in our lakes and rivers. TWF works daily with landowners and our partners to protect and improve water quality,” said TWF Executive Director Lyn Crighton. TWF has worked with 60 farmers, 120 landowners and other partners to construct more than 200 pollution prevention projects in the community. “Projects aimed at preventing sediments, fertilizers and bacteria from entering our waterways provide immediate and long-term benefits to our lakes and community,” said Crighton. The Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau also plays a critical role in highlighting the local lakes, and offers ideas for visitors and residents to enjoy while visiting or doing life in Kosciusko County. Check out the digital “Blue Spaces” guide from KCCVB, which includes several lake maps and a map key showing where beaches, parks, rentals and more are located throughout the county, at visitkosciuskocounty.org/ blue-spaces or pick up printed guides at KCCVB or The Lilly Center. “Kosciusko County offers an abundance of beautiful attractions to visitors and residents alike. With over 100 natural lakes, this provides the opportu-

gether to promote the lakes and life in Kosciusko County is with the Clearly Kosciusko brand. Clearly Kosciusko is a countywide voice created in partnership among the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams, KCCVB, Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce and KEDCO. As different organizations that specialize in what makes the county special, Clearly Kosciusko

helps create a unified and amplified story. Businesses are invited to become members and help tell the Clearly Kosciusko story. County HELP program encourages residents to share ideas for development efforts Kosciusko County leaders are seeking feedback from residents about community development efforts across the county as part of the Hoosier Enduring Legacy Program. Residents can participate via an online survey or in person at upcoming events. Kosciusko County was one of three communities selected by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to participate in the first cohort of the HELP program. The program focuses on training up small rural communities, and assists communities in developing Strategic Investment Plans, which culminate in a legacy project for each community focused on four community development areas: advancing e-connectivity, enhancing quality of place, promoting community wellness and strengthening local economies. The towns of Etna Green, Mentone, Milford and Pierceton are participating with Kosciusko County in the 12-month HELP program. HELP is continuing to gather feedback from residents in each of the four communities and throughout the county with a brief survey. The brief three-question survey focuses on which of the

four community development areas are most important to each of the communities, and obtaining project ideas related to those areas of focus. The digital survey can be found by visiting bit.ly/helpsurvey. The deadline to complete the survey is at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 7. “We’ve begun gathering feedback from residents by kicking off our first Art Infused events in May, and we have two more coming up in June. And now, we’re adding a more accessible method for residents who may not be able to attend an in-person event to submit ideas,” said HELP Kosciusko County Coordinator Amy Roe. “This feedback is critical in helping us determine priorities in each of the communities and for planning transformative projects.” The Art Infused communitycentric events are made possible by The Indiana Arts Commission, focus on using art to bring communities together and help them dream about what their community could be. The HELP program, in partnership with Spoonful of Imagination, will offer the inperson Art Infused events to the public on: • 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at

Remembrance Park, 106 S. Walnut St., Etna Green. • 5:30-7::30 p.m. Friday, June 17, in the Milford Community Building parking lot, 111 S. Main St. These events are free to attend and are open to all ages. Spoonful of Imagination will lead participants through a collaborative art project, while participants share project ideas related to the four HELP program areas of focus. The HELP program will utilize the $1.28 billion allocated directly to Indiana communities from the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds through the American Rescue Plan Act. Additionally, there will be one last in-person opportunity for residents to share input at a community engagement session from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at the Westminster East Banquet Hall at Grace College in Winona Lake. Participants will again have the opportunity to select which of the four community development areas of focus is most important to them and share a project idea for their community. For more HELP program updates, visit kcgov.com.

Goshen Hospital among nation’s top hospitals for treating heart attack patients For the 11th year in a row, Goshen Hospital has received the American College of Cardiology’s Platinum Performance Achievement Award for excellence in heart attack care. Goshen Hospital is honored to be one of only 240 hospitals nationwide to receive this award. “We are deeply gratified in knowing that our commitment to top quality, guideline driven care makes a difference in the lives of the people in our community,” said Randy Christophel, president and CEO of Goshen Health. “We’re proud of our team’s dedication and collaboration in providing the highest level of cardiovascular care.” The award recognizes Goshen Hospital’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies the hospital has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care

as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations. To receive the award, hospitals must demonstrate they follow the clinical guidelines outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association to achieve superior outcomes and lower mortality for two consecutive years (2020 and 2021). The Centers for Disease Control estimates over 800,000 Americans suffer a heart attack each year. A heart attack occurs when a blood clot in a coronary artery partially or completely blocks blood flow to the heart muscle. Treatment guidelines include administering aspirin upon arrival and discharge, timely restoration of blood flow to the blocked artery, smoking cessation counseling and cardiac rehabilitation, among others.

Watershed Foundation recognized with award The Watershed Foundation, an organization that has been taking action to improve the water quality of lakes and streams in the Upper Tippecanoe River Watershed, has been recognized as a 2022 Luminary Award recipient by NIPSCO. TWF was awarded the Environmental Stewardship Luminary Award for taking strong, measurable action to improve water quality within the watershed. Through projects and partnerships between lake residents and farmers, TWF has been successful in rallying support and leading meaningful change for the past 25 years. In addition to the award and recognition,

TWF was awarded a $1000 grant. “Our communities are enriched by the work so many do to ensure continued growth, vitality and success across northern Indiana,” said Rick Calinski, NIPSCO director of public affairs and economic development. “We’re so pleased to have this opportunity to recognize the efforts of organizations and leaders who make the communities we serve a better place to live and work.” “We are honored to be recognized by NIPSCO for the work we are doing every day to make our lakes and streams healthier for future generations,” said Lyn Crighton, ex-

ecutive director of TWF. “This is no small endeavor, and we are grateful to the many people who make our work possible.” Crighton accepted the award on behalf of the organization at an awards ceremony on May 10 in Merrillville. NIPSCO created the Luminary Awards in 2012 to celebrate the utility’s 100th anniversary and to honor individuals and organizations that have displayed leadership in the areas of community leadership, economic development, education, environmental stewardship, public safety and local government excellence.

ACT Nappanee-Wakarusa sponsors pet the bunny charity event Advancing Community Together invites members of the Nappanee and Wakarusa communities to visit their booth from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 10, at the Nappanee Friday Fest to pet a selection of rabbits while learning about the ways they provide food, fur and fancy for hobby and commercial use. Ryan McBride, breeder and owner of MC Rabbitry in Elkhart, will host a series of short presentations: • 5:30 p.m., How to Raise a Show Rabbit • 6:15 p.m., Rabbit Showmanship Tips • 7 p.m., Breed ID: Food, Fur and Fancy •“I was introduced to rabbits through my children’s 4-H projects,” said McBride, a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association. “Then I got more and more intrigued by this animal. There are 50 different ARBA-recognized breeds and rasing them is a great way for kids to learn responsibility. •A trio of rabbits — one buck and two does — can produce

enough progeny in 18 months to result in the meat equivalent in weight to a full-grown steer. “One important difference between raising rabbits and a steer is that you’ll have meat all along the way with rabbits,” McBride noted. •This makes rabbits a cornerstone of the Heifer International’s program to help hungry families in developing countries. In addition to accepting contributions for heifer.org, the ACT Nappanee-Wakarusa booth will also accept contributions on behalf of THE CENTER, a WaNee district charity that provides a food pantry among other services to families experiencing financial stress. •“Food insecurity in Elkhart County continues,” noted Executive Director Mark Mikel. “At our food pantry, demand has increased by 93% in the past two months as gas and grocery prices have increased, and as clients have anticipated the pending decrease of their SNAP benefits by 50%.” McBride’s 5:30 p.m. presen-

tation will emphasize the importance of providing a secure cage for your rabbit, balancing its diet, checking its health frequently and handling your rabbit a lot so it trusts you and gets used to human contact. “My best advice for raising your show rabbit is to find a mentor who is a reputable rabbit breeder and forget what Bugs Bunny says. Carrots are not all that great for rabbits,” said McBride. He recommended anyone planning to raise show rabbits to acquire their stock from a reputable breeder. ACT Nappanee-Wakarusa is an organization of Independent, Progressive and Democrat voters who work to Advance Community Together. For more information, email actnappaneewakarusa@gmail.com.

‘Stamp Out Hunger’ collects over 5,000 pounds in Warsaw and Winona Lake The postal letter carriers in Warsaw and Winona Lake collected 5,337 pounds of food Saturday, May 14. The annual event had been cancelled the previous two years due to COVID but resumed

in 2022. Food collected was divided to support the pantries of Combined Community Services and The Salvation Army. As food prices continue to rise, the support of the postal

workers is greatly appreciated. “Stamp Out Hunger” is held the second Saturday in May as a national event promoted by the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Hall named Community Foundation VP of Programs Kosciusko County Community Foundation recently announced the appointment of a new vice president of programs, Alex Hall. Hall, who most recently served as the associate director of Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams at Grace College, comes with a strong existing relationship with the community foundation as a former Kosciusko Endowment Youth Services participant, volunteer and committee member. Hall is a graduate of Warsaw Community High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Manchester University and holds

a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Grace College. He is a resident of Winona Lake. Hall was first introduced to the community foundation in 2002 when he was selected by his principal to represent Warsaw Community Schools as a participant in the foundation’s youth philanthropy program, KEYS. He said his passion for philanthropic work was born out of his KEYS experience. Since 2018, Hall has served the KEYS program as a volunteer group leader. He has also served on various community foundation committees and

scholarship review panels in recent years. “The community foundation has experienced significant growth in our assets, $/(; +$// our grantmaking and in opportunities to help meet community needs over the last few years. The creation of the vice president of programs role will help us be bet-

Grants available for field trips to state parks, lakes Educators interested in taking K-12 students on field trips to an Indiana state park or state-managed lake during the 2022-2023 school year can receive financial help through the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation. Grants from the Discover the Outdoors fund are available for public, private, parochial or homeschool educators, according to INRF Executive Director Jody Kress. “The foundation’s mission is to celebrate and preserve Indiana’s natural legacy,” Kress said. “This grant gives children an adventure that showcases some of Indiana’s natural and cultural treasures and teaches the importance of protecting and preserving them for everyone to enjoy.” Since the grant program’s inception in 2013, a total of 153 grants have been awarded, providing the opportunity for more

than 17,000 students to visit state parks at less cost to the schools and students. Indiana has 24 state parks, eight state-managed lakes, two state recreation areas and two offroad state recreation areas eligible for field trip funding that will engage students in learning about Indiana’s fish, forest, wildlife, natural habitats, conservation and outdoor recreation opportunities. “These trips help children understand how previous generations viewed the significance of Indiana’s natural and cultural resources, and at the same time let them make great memories they will carry into adulthood,” said Ginger Murphy, deputy director for stewardship for DNR State Parks. The maximum grant award is $250 per application. Applications are accepted from May 1 to June 30 prior to the

school year for which the grant is requested. Applications must be postmarked no later than June 30. Applicants will be notified by Sept. 1 regarding potential grant awards. The grant application is at on.in.gov/state-park-groupprograms. Read more about the impact this grant has had at indiananrf.org/the-inrf-difference/ education. A video explaining the program is at youtu.be/uC4QjhsBLO8. The INRF is accepting donations to the fund from individuals, businesses and anyone else who supports the idea of getting kids outdoors. The fund was established in memory of Tom Huck, a longtime DNR employee who was an ardent supporter of outdoor experiences for children. ter equipped to offer nonprofits grants and technical assistance and will expand our capacity to meet community needs as they emerge,” said community foundation CEO, Stephanie Overbey. “Alex’s longtime volunteer experiences at the community foundation, combined with the leadership skills he acquired during his time at the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams at Grace College and on various nonprofit boards, has prepared him very well to take on this new endeavor. We are very excited to welcome him.” Hall is a current board member with The Watershed Foundation and a former board member of the Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy. In 2020, he was named a Rising Leader by the Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation. In addition to his work with the Lilly Center, Hall has taught a variety of online courses at Grace College. He has led students on Go Encounter trips to Japan, the Bahamas and most recently to Hawaii earlier this month. His former colleagues at the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams congratulated Hall on his new role. “Alex has been a key part of our team for nearly five years, and we are sending him off to now invest his skill set and personality at the community foundation,” said Lilly Center Director Dr. Nate Bosch. “He will be missed on our team, but we wish him well in this new chapter and look forward to working with him in his new role.” The Lilly Center is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2022. The organization began through a donor advised grant of the community foundation in 2007, and

Nominations accepted for Golden Hoosier Award Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, in collaboration with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Division of Aging, has announced nominations are now being accepted for the 2022 Golden Hoosier Award. This is the 15th year for the program. “Our state is filled with generous Hoosiers who are constantly giving back to their neighborhoods and communities,” Crouch said. “I am excited to once again partner with FSSA and AARP Indiana to honor those who are going above and beyond to better their town and our state. The best thing about Indiana are her people, men and women who find ways to leave Indiana in a better place for their children and future generations.” Crouch said the award began in 2008 and annually honors older Hoosiers for their lifetime of service and commitment to their communities. To be eligible for the Golden Hoosier Award, the nominee must currently be an Indiana resident, aged 65 or older, and have been a volunteer in the community for the past three years. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, June 10. Nomination forms can be accessed electronically by visiting in.gov/lg/ lt-governor-initiatives/goldenhoosier-award/2022-goldenhoosier-nominee-information. A ceremony honoring those selected will be held later this year at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. Since 2008 more than 200 Hoosiers have received the Golden Hoosier Award.

Patients and their families were invited to nominate nurses they felt had provided them with exceptional care. Angela Studebaker nominated Starla Martin, RN on the Oncology Unit. Studebaker wrote: “As a trauma survivor and a patient with severe pneumonia, nights were hard during my 26-day stay in January. Starla became my regular nurse. She always went the extra mile to help me feel safe and cared for. I’d wake up often and push my call light or call her name if I thought she was in the room. I would often apologize for bothering her. She would say, ‘You’re not bothering me! I enjoy taking care of you!’ She always had a huge smile on her face when saying it. During his hospitalization, his family deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. To learn more, visit daisyfoundation.org.
