Programs prevent student bully by: KISHEY CABALLES To prevent bullying, pressure, and drug usage among students, Panabo City National High School (PCNHS) Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) has launched programs aiming to create a supportive environment. BKD Coordinator Jekie Cañas said it is better to engage students in extracurricular activities like community services, sports activities, and internal and external engagement than them doing ‘the wrong thing’. “Naa pud tay spiritual and educational workshop para makabalo sila unsay tama ug mali,” he added. The school has set up a peer leadership initiative which encourages students to participate in prevention activities. Additionally, 25 cases of bullying, pressure and stress were reported in the school year 2024-2025.

Students were dismissed early as classes were suspended at four o’clock in the afternoon last August 29, supposedly due to a bomb threat.

TMU response lags as school struggles with unauthorized parking, traffic by: ROCHIE GABATILLA PANABO CITY, Davao Del Norte— To lighten the traffic congestion outside school premises, Panabo City National High School’s (PCNHS) administration has formally requested the barangay office and the city Traffic Management Unit (TMU), urging immediate action to address the issue, however the latter has yet to respond with concrete measures, leaving the situation unresolved. In an interview, the school’s Prefect of Discipline, Sir Alfredo Kampag, highlighted that the problem stems from the unauthorized parking outside the school, blocking drop-off lanes and leaving little room for authorized school and public transportation TRAFFIC JAM. However, Kampag noted that the TMU’s current course of action has been limited to taking note of unauthorized parkers, though they have ‘yet’ to catch any in the act. Furthermore, as a firsthand observer of the congestion, a PCNHS patrolman, Sir Ogie-Mar Montefolka, testified that the primary cause of traffic is the overpopulation of tricycle drivers who park outside the school while waiting for passengers. “Nakuhaan gyud na ug isa ka linya ang dalan diha, kay ang mga pedicab na, ang ka-lapdon ana nila, halos isa
