SWIMMERS have been ordered off Arenal beach for the second time in a year due to pollution. It comes after tests showed the water had been contaminated by bacteria of fecal origin. Police ordered everybody out of the water after samples were confirmed by the Valencian Community. It is not known where the discharges came from, with some suggesting they may have come from a boat. Swimming was banned for two days at Arenal last July following a similar report. That time, Ecologistas en Accion claimed a broken pipe from a sewage treatment plant was leaking, although this was denied by Javea council.
