Eric Morris made it clear what was important to him during his inauguration speech on Dec. 8, 2025, as he decided on his next home. “I always like to start with two questions,” Morris said. “... Does this align with my values and who I am as a person? And ultimately, is it a place where I want to live? ... Can we win a championship there?” That’s the question Morris asked himself before committing to Oklahoma State as head coach. But OSU had to answer its own question first: why him? The search for a new head coach came under difficult circumstances after OSU fired Mike Gundy three games into his 21st season, ending a two-decade tenure after the Cowboys’ worst season since 1991. Athletic Director Chad Weiberg needed a new leader to rebuild the culture of OSU football. After playing wide receiver under Mike Leach at Texas Tech, Morris climbed the coaching ranks as an offensive assistant, returning to Lubbock in 2014 as offensive coordinator to help
develop future NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes. His head-coaching track record proved he could turn programs around fast. After taking over a 1-10 Incarnate Word program in 2018, Morris immediately led the Cardinals to a Southland Conference title and left four years later as the school’s winningest coach. He replicated that success at North Texas, guiding the Mean Green from back-toback losing seasons to a school-record 11-win campaign in 2025 and an American Conference championship berth. That resume explains what Morris has done. However, the answer to why OSU chose him can be traced in part to a connection made over a decade earlier, when Weiberg worked with Morris at Texas Tech. Weiberg saw firsthand how Morris built a program, ran an offense and led his players. After the search for a new head coach was complete, Weiberg laid out exactly what the Cowboys saw in Morris before introducing him at his introductory press conference. “An accomplished coach with a track record of winning games and building programs,” Weiberg
said. “A leader who creates a culture young men want to be part of… A genuine relationship builder with players, former players, donors and fans. A recruiter familiar with Oklahoma, Texas and the Big 12. And a fit, which is difficult to define, but more of a gut feeling or instinct. “Coach Morris checked every one of those boxes and more.” Morris runs an Air Raid-based offense built on tempo and quarterback reads. His track record of quarterback development helped attract Drew Mestemaker and a group of 19 UNT recruits who chose to follow Morris to OSU rather than stay in Denton. Even behind the scenes, of the 42 new staff members Morris brought into his operation, 35 followed him from UNT. Morris was handed a full rebuild; he was tasked with reconstructing the roster and staff while instilling his own culture. Morris leaned heavily on the transfer portal to speed up the process. But Morris isn’t approaching the rebuild as if he has all the answers. “As a coach, you get to this point,” Morris said during his weekly press conference on
Tuesday. “And now I’m in Year 8 as a head coach. I think you’re kind of ready for everything. You want to see what you do well and what you can build upon. There’s going to be some stuff we don’t do very well, and there’s going to be some adversity that hits us, and just how we handle that.” Morris brought a piece of Denton to Stillwater. Now he has to prove that combination can get the Cowboys back into the mix for championships. That question gets its first real test on Saturday when Morris leads OSU onto the road for his Cowboy debut against Tulsa. “Winning college football games on the road is hard,” Morris said. “I don’t care where you’re at, who you’re playing, it’s going to be hard for us to win this game.” Before Morris can answer whether OSU can compete for championships, he has to build the habits that can get it there. “Tulsa has our full attention,” Morris said. “One of my great mentors used to say, ‘Respect everyone and fear no one,’ and I believe in that in this sport.”

OSU football has gone from despair to championship dreams stadium as the coach did the ceremonial O-S-U hand signs for what would turn out to be the final time. Four days later, on Sept. 23, what was seen as unthinkable finally happened. Gundy was fired. The man who was once 40, who had led OSU through thick and thin and become an OSU lifer, was now without a job. That was it — the end. The Cowboys would finish their season at 1-11, but that was overshadowed by what would come next and the questions that loomed over everyone from the highest decision-makers to the fans on the ground: Who would be the next head coach? And how do you replace a coach like Gundy? OSU would search for its new leader in the ensuing months, names flying in from all directions. When the Cowboys hired North Texas’ Eric Morris to lead the program, there Chance Marick, The O’Colly was something in the air in Stillwater that OSU looks to turn a difficult 2025 into championship dreams in 2026 hadn’t been there in nearly two years: excitement. about bringing back OSU’s most storied rivalry game. “I’d love to get on the phone with anybody that we know that can help us get that game back [Bedlam],” Morris said. “And if they’re asking if Coach Morris welcomes that game, I welcome it with open arms.” Once the portal opened, Morris brought in all the right faces. He grabbed 15 of his former players from North Texas, including quarterback Drew Mestemaker, running back Caleb Hawkins and receiver Wyatt Young, who made up the three-headed monster that has now moved up I-35 to Stillwater. He brought an entirely new defense, too, including in-state corner Mo Horn and UNT linebacker Ethan Wesloski, who’s expected to be the on-field defender who communicates with the coaches. All that’s to say, the last nine months at OSU have felt like a rebirth. The Cowboys enter the 2026 season with enough unwanted stats to fill a separate column. OSU hasn’t won a game against a Big 12 foe in almost a thousand days, and hasn’t beaten an FBS opponent in almost two years. America’s brightest orange had dulled, yet a calendar year later, Stillwater is pulsing with hype. Every day, it seems, OSU is the topic of an expectation-raising headline, and betting markets are bullish that the Cowboys could recreate Indiana’s rise under Curt Cignetti. The standard was raised over the past 20 years. Now, it feels higher than ever, with OSU fans hoping Morris can get the Cowboys over the hump and fulfill his championship promise.

From walk-on to QB1 Drew Mestemaker’s rise to OSU

Drew Mestemaker gets ready to lead the Cowboys adter a breakout 2025 capaign at North Texas. Will Thorogood
STAFF REPORTER
Before walking onto North Texas with zero FBS offers in 2024, Drew Mestemaker did not start a varsity game at quarterback at Vandegrift High School in Austin, Texas. Two years later, he is the starting quarterback for Oklahoma State, preparing for the Cowboys’ 2026 season opener Sept. 5 against Tulsa. “This is what you dream of; this is a position I want to be at,” Mestemaker said about preparing for a higher level. “But I can’t go out and do anything crazy or different than I haven’t done in the past because obviously, these teams are better, but also our team’s better, too. You can’t really change your process. You gotta stick to your process and just work at it.”
In the 21st century, OSU has seen talented quarterbacks such as Zac Robinson, Brandon Weeden and Mason Rudolph take the field at Boone Pickens Stadium. Mestemaker now has a chance to add his name to that list after a breakout redshirt freshman season at UNT. He spent the 2024 season as a backup to Chandler Morris, appearing in five games and starting one. Mestemaker finished with 30 completions for 462 yards and two touchdowns, adding 87 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. He made his mark in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl in Dallas, Texas, against Texas State, throwing for 393 yards and two touchdowns on 26 completions in UNT’s 30-28 loss. Last season, Mestemaker took off as the Mean Green’s starter, leading the FBS in
completions of at least 10 yards (168), 20 yards (67), 50 yards (11), 60 yards (eight) and 70 yards (five). He also ranked second nationally in passing touchdowns (34), third in points responsible for (240) and fourth in passing efficiency (168.7). Linebacker Ethan Wesloski, who has gone up against Mestemaker many times in practice, talked about the quarterback’s growth over the last few years. “Really it’s just been as a leader, as a human being,” Wesloski said. “He’s able to take on a role and lead his offense those days when they’re in a lull, but he’s able to kind of regroup them and recenter them, remind them of their mission, and they’ve been able to flip the switch on him.” Now at OSU, the mental part of preparing for a higher level of
college football has not changed for Mestemaker, according to Cowboys head coach Eric Morris. “He’s handled preparation so good, and I think that’s what [quarterbacks coach Sean Brophy’s] done good for so long,” Morris said. “I think just building confidence in those guys, and the way he builds the meeting room and allows these guys to see it. And then two — just having a good working relationship with Drew, as he gets older, and around the game and smarter.” While Brophy has been a crucial part of Mestemaker’s growth, the quarterback also gave large credit to Morris, whom he has learned a lot from over the past two years. “Just the way he calls the offense helps you get up to speed,” Mestemaker said. “I feel
like the way he views offenses and where offenses are trying to attack, I feel like that’s helped me grow as a quarterback.” While UNT played Tulsa back in 2024, Mestemaker did not appear in the Mean Green’s 52-20 win over the Golden Hurricane. Now, as the starting quarterback for the Cowboys, he will get that opportunity come Saturday. “They’re a good team, and they got a bunch of transfers and they play fast on defense,” Mestemaker said. “I feel like their defensive structure is sort of similar to ours. They like keeping those two high safeties, and then letting their guys play free. They don’t try to scheme us up too much until third downs, but they put their players in position to succeed and let them go play fast.” sports.ed@ocolly.com

Postseason: Air Force (Independence Bowl) Result: OSU wins 31-13 OSU record: 11-3 The Cowboys entered the Big 12 championship as the No. 9 team, but after losing by 46 to TTU, the EA CFP selection committee was faced with a tough question. Do you punish a team for a loss in its conference championship? Ultimately, that loss did matter as No. 13 OSU missed a spot in the CFP. OSU, however, got an invitation to the Independence Bowl where it faced Air Force. Mestemaker once again struggled as he threw four interceptions, but the Cowboys’ defense held the Falcons at bay. OSU closed the game by scoring 17 unanswered points and ended its season with a bowl win.

Game day is quickly approaching at Oklahoma State University, leading to prepare students and fans preparing for another season of Cowboy football. Soon, Hester Street will be flooded with a sea of orange, Boone Pickens Stadium will be packed to the brim and Bullet will make his debut of the season. Whether it’s your first game day, or you have been attending for years, here is what you need to know before heading to the stadium. Tailgating There are plenty of places to tailgate on campus, but if you want to create the perfect setup, you must ensure you are tailgating the right way. Setting up tents and chairs begins the day before the game at 11 a.m., and tailgate areas are first-come, firstserved. Be respectful of your fellow tailgaters and do not take another’s claimed location. If you choose to tailgate, shelter from the sun is a must. Make sure you are looking for spots with good shade, or even better, pack a pop-up canopy. You can find a map and the OSU tailgating guidelines on the website. The block party includes live music, inflatables and the chance to meet the local hooved celebrities, BB and Bullet.

Ways to spend Labor Day in Stillwater KEILEY WARD
O’COLLY CONTRIBUTOR
Oklahoma State University offers various ways to spend Labor Day weekend. Here are some ways you can explore Stillwater during your threeday weekend: Katana Davis from Apex Title and Closing Services recommends checking out Stonecloud Brewery, the newly opened Chuck’s Public House and the many boutiques located downtown. “If you’re new to Stillwater, a good way to spend your weekend is to see if there are any sales at any of the shops,” Davis said. Downtown Stillwater has over 11 blocks of boutiques, shops and restaurants to explore. Popular shopping locations in town are Rhinestone Cowboy, The Antique Mall, Chris’ University Spirit, Typo Market and Velvet Fudge. If shopping does not appeal to you, entertainment is another aspect Stillwater does well. Block 34 will continue its monthly ‘Cinema 34’ event with a Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at the KICKER Soundstage on Friday at 8:30 p.m. Saturday continues the B34 Live Concert Series at 7 p.m. with local musicians and vendors across the lawn. Next to campus, The Strip provides shopping and food options for a walkable spot to spend the weekend. One location is Bondi Bowls, the new home for Stillwater’s açai bowls. Shops that can also be found along The Strip are Wooden Nickel and Drupree Sports and Screenprinting. After dark, the bar scene lights up with live music creating a space for the Stillwater community to come together. “I would also say The Hub is a great place for students to get to hang out with friends and to look into Visit Stillwater’s events they’re hosting,” Davis said. The Hub hosts bowling, arcade games, indoor pickleball and four movie theater auditoriums to provide ample space to be filled with good company. While not doing a specific Labor Day deal, the Hub is open 10 a.m to midnight everyday. If spending time outdoors is someone’s preferred way to spend time, surrounding lakes are hosting events and can provide for quality time to be spent with families and friends. Lake Carl Blackwell will host its fifth annual customer appreciation event Friday, Sept. 4 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Cabin Village Pavilion to kick off the three-day weekend. Boomer Lake and Lake McMurtry are great spots for a sunny walk or a nice picnic and while there are no specific events; they are still a great space for

activities with friends and family. Crystal Wintle, co-owner of District Bicycles, suggested stopping by the store if you love the outdoors and need to stock up on your adventure supplies. Wintle will be spending her Labor Day at the lake with her family and provided information on what activities there are to do while there. “I am spending my Labor Day weekend by going to Lake McMurtry with my family,” Wintle said. “Lake McMurtry has multiple hiking and bike trails, with unique spots to set up a hammock.” Coffee shops across town are welcoming for students to study and join friends for the weekend, creating a space for peace and community. Alexa Noffsinger from Burlson, Texas, suggests that everyone gets out and grabs some coffee at Aspen Coffee. “If students are needing a calm environment to get some schoolwork done over this weekend, go to Aspen,” Noffsinger said. She plans to spend her time at Lake Carl Blackwell for Labor Day weekend, but from her perspective, Savage thinks it’s worth the stay to check out some local areas. “Since I have lived in Stillwater my whole life, I would recommend students look into Stone Cloud’s events they’re hosting and just explore around town,” Savage said. “Eskimo Joe’s could easily get overcrowded, but it would also be a great place to watch the OSU football game this weekend.” There are countless ways one can enjoy Labor Day weekend in Stillwater and if the plan is to stay around campus, try someplace new or take a day-trip to discover something new.

Awareness Continued from 1B
It is easy to become stressed in college; Homework, essays and exams can appear never-ending. Friends may have opposing schedules and never have any time to spend together. Some students balance jobs as well, adding stress to an already heavy workload. While your stress levels may fluctuate from day to day, that does not mean your overall mental health needs to. Taking care of yourself is extremely important. When you disregard your health, whether it be physical, social or mental, your everyday life will start to unravel. The simplest tasks, such as showering or eating will begin to take all of the energy one possesses. On some days, these tasks may be too daunting to even consider doing. Once in a rut, it is tricky to get out, but it is possible. Establishing a daily routine can drastically improve mental health. In a UCLA Health study, people who had regular sleep studies had a 38% lower risk of depression and a 33% lower risk of anxiety compared to those who went to sleep at different times each night. Completing homework and studying on a consistent basis can benefit students with both their academic and mental well-being. Meeting due dates and taking the time to thoroughly complete assignments ensures that students are not only learning, but also being proactive about their work. Although studying in moderation can be a way to lessen burnout. While studying the day before a test only leads to a lack of sleep and anxiety, but employing a schedule of designated, spaced-out study times with regular breaks will help with long-term retention and focus. Forming a habit around coursework is one thing. So is taking the time to reflect upon how you’re feeling. Any upsets, whether major or minor, are important to digest and understand how they may be affecting you. There is always someone available to listen and share advice.
Face-to-face meetings are not for everyone. Cowboy Care is great for those who want help, but would rather seek it over the phone. The Cowboy Care program offers constant telehealth resources ranging from counseling, peer support and urgent care. Resolutions Counseling Group, located in Perkins and Stillwater, focuses on the well-being of children and young adults via private sessions. Layla Cochran, the social media manager, confirms that Resolutions is a personable, caring service for anyone needing to reach out. “They’re not scary people, they’re very fun people,” Cochran said about the counselor team at Resolutions. “They want you to text them. They want to know how they can help you and for you to know your options.” The Suicide Hotline & Crisis Help number is 988. It is free to chat, text or call at all times. The OSU Counseling Services phone number is 405-744-5458 and the office is located in room 320 Student Union, where it is open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling the office and completing the new client packet. Otherwise, the walk-in clinic is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is located at 315 Student Union. It operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students seeking long-term guidance can find it at the Psychological Services Center, which is operated by the psychology department in the Psychology Building, Room 118. Services are available to people of all ages and cost of care is based on income. For those struggling with mental health and wellness, there are options. The resources available at OSU and in Stillwater are for everyone, regardless of the situation someone is facing. This September, remember that asking for help does not make you weak and to be an advocate for those around you.

Students find community through running ZANE ABOUZAHR
O’COLLY CONTRIBUTOR
This week, more than 30 runners gathered in front of Edmon Low Library for the first time this semester to participate in the Oklahoma State Running Club. Some participants were training for a marathon while others wanted to stay in shape, but for many, this OSU club is a natural way to find community. “I want people to find a friend,” said Greta Hamre, a senior biochemistry major and president of the club. “I want people to learn more about themselves.” Ultimately, Hamre said she hopes the club gives students “a place where they belong at OSU.”
Runners of all paces and levels begin stretching on the library lawn, then split into different running groups on the local campus route. The club holds a welcoming environment with groups designed for “all types of runners, slow, medium, and fast,” said Jazmin Lopez, a senior studying marketing and management. This is Lopez’s third year with the running club, and some of her goals include training for a 5k and 10k. The welcoming atmosphere has led to making joining the club less intimidating. For Luke Smith, a freshman studying mechanical and aerospace engineering, he
heard about the running club at the student involvement fair and was able to speak about the club due to his recent experiences. “It doesn’t matter how fast you are. This is only my second time, but any speed can join, any distance can join,” Smith said. For other members, like senior biology major Colin Greer, the running club provides a space to train toward more ambitious goals. “I’m signed up for an ultramarathon in December,” Greer said. “It’s a 100-mile or so. It’s getting me a little crazy, but I’ll see how I go.” While the running club meets twice a week, Mondays at 7 p.m. and Thursdays at 7 a.m., Cody
Moss, a junior studying nutrition and premed, says the club is about more than just running. “Part of it is the people,” Moss said. “I really like everyone in the club. It’s a really good community.” Greer also stated that the community is what separates running with the club from running alone. “The people that show up kind of have the same interest as you,” Greer said. “So you’ll find your people for sure.”

Lifestyle ‘A kindess program’: Claudia’s Career Closet AMANDA NAGODE
O’COLLY CONTRIBUTOR
First impressions matter, whether it’s deciding what to wear on the first day of class or the job interview you’ve been preparing for these past four years, the right outfit can make or break your big day. As the Oklahoma State University Career Fair comes up, a professional first impression is on the top of mind for many students. More often than not, employers include a dress code in their hiring policy. Being adequately prepared and understanding hiring policies will help you navigate the workforce professionally. Dressing well goes beyond the employer; feeling professional and confident will allow you to enter the interview on the best foot forward. Claudia’s Career Closet, located in the basement of the Student Union, provides OSU students with free professional clothing to remove financial obstacles so that every student can show up to career opportunities feeling sophisticated and prepared. “It’s so nice that it’s [Claudia’s Career Closet] right in the Student Union, because anyone who’s even coming to eat dinner can go get some clothes.” said Abby Munoz, OSU junior. “So the convenience is great for sure, and then also the affordability. Some people work while in college, and all that money is going towards tuition or rent, so this is perfect for students.” Megan Hazzard, coordinator of Claudia’s Career Closet, describes how the organization works. “How we operate is we get a backfill of donations from faculty and students,” Hazzard said. “The students come in and take from the closet, but many students will return the clothing they used. So it’s a recycling, self-

With OSU students out of class, Lowery expects Barnes and Noble to see an increase in customers throughout the long weekend. “I think more people are going to show up this weekend,” Lowery said. “We’re definitely going to be more of a weekend store for students.” As OSU students prepare for their weekend off, Lowery will be experiencing his Labor Day the way he knows best: working. “I guess working is my Labor Day tradition,” Lowery said. “Or it is for now until I get a nice office job and can have the day off.” While some students prepare for a busy weekend at work, others are spending Labor Day weekend with their friends and family. OSU student Katen Bottorff said she plans to travel to her boyfriend’s hometown. “We are going to hang out and watch the OSU football game on Saturday,” Bottorff said. “On Sunday we are going to go fishing with his grandparents, and I’m going to learn how to

You can even call or email Claudia’s Closet and have a student come pick up the clothing and bring it back to donate.” Since Claudia’s Career Closet opened in January of 2026, over 1,500 OSU students have utilized the closet for job interviews, internships and career fairs all completely free of charge. From blazers to cowboy hats, Claudia’s Career Closet has anything a workready student might need to
dress for success. “As a facet of career services, we are part of the entire student’s journey,” Hazzard said. “We not only provide professional clothes, but also resources for coaching students on writing their resume and helping with job searches.” Megan Hazzard recalls an impactful memory in her time working for Claudia’s Career Closet. “My very first day on the
job, I had a student from California, and he had only been at OSU for a couple months,” Hazzard said. “He had an interview coming up, and was anxiously in need of a full suit. We [Claudia’s Career Closet] provided him with dress shoes, a belt, shirt, everything, completely free. He went off for his interview on Friday and the next Monday afternoon, he came up to me and said ‘I got the job!’”

Hazzard then spoke to the true meaning of Claudia’s Career Closet. “Claudia’s Closet is not a profit program – It’s a kindness program, our profit is kindness,” Hazzard said.

Strickland Park, located on North Main Street, has been undergoing renovations since the end of March. This $1.8 million project was funded by the visitor sales tax and aims to enhance the longevity of the park for the Stillwater community. According to the stillwaterok.gov website, the main goals for this project are as listed below: Infield turf installation on all four fields New fencing on all fields LED field lighting Dugout extensions and upgrades Renovated restrooms and concession areas Shade structures However, in an update posted on Aug. 10, the turf intended to be installed was delayed due to international shipping disruptions and left without an estimated delivery date until recently. While the city waits for the shipments to arrive, installation of lights, fences and concrete has continued to be prepared for when these shipments reach the final destination. On This day 1975. 51 years ago. For an industry seemingly done in two decades ago by television, the movies continue to make an astounding comeback, led as usual by a runaway hit. This year all the credit nervously goes to ‘Jaws.’ Having already passed ‘The Excorcist’ and ‘the Sting’ to become the fourth highest grossing film of all time, the shark thriller trials only ‘Gone With The Wind,’ ‘The Sound of Music’ and ‘The Godfather.’ By now it should have passed by Rhett and Scarlett, and before mid-September have taken the lead. Why is this prefabricated torpedo with teeth breaking all existing records? Elementary, my dear Aggies. The term is known as “shock value,” and the film uses it expertly and effectively enough to scare the boots off of any and every Poke who sees it. Sterling Point
lifestyle
Is it worth the hype?
Kalina Williams
ASST. NEWS & LIFESTYLE EDITOR
Combining drama with a heartfelt coming-of-age story led Sterling Point to the top of Prime Video’s ‘Top 10 Shows’ list since the series was released in early August. Those who enjoy the teendrama genre quickly supported the project along with finding a sense of comfort. With one 8-episode season available, the show provides a dramatic and entertaining watch for audiences to enjoy alone or with company. The show follows the main character, 17-year-old Annie (Ella Rubin), and her twin brother Connor (Keen Ruffalo) as they navigate the summer before their senior year. Family secrets, new friendships and evolving romance fill the episodes making each one more interesting than the one before. Traveling to the fictional island of Muskoka, Canada greets Annie with the loss of Wi-Fi and forces interactions that are unlike her life in New York. She eventually navigates the challenges, but originally faces problems due to being an outsider and trying to bring her big-city lifestyle to the locals’ secluded paradise. Annie becomes close with teens her age who spend their time cliff jumping, working part time and going to parties where they learn to coexist with ‘richer’ individuals despite their different upbringings. After reuniting with a childhood friend, Rory (Daniel Quinn-Toye), Annie is introduced to this different way of living and the personalities that come with it. This creates challenges when she feels torn between Rory and Ellis (Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie), who becomes part of this slow-burn love story. For most shows, love triangles take over the main plot and become its own, but Sterling Point was able to maintain the storyline while working through Annie’s love life and keeping the main plot in focus. Sterling Point stands out against other Prime Video shows like Off Campus and The Summer I Turned Pretty due to its authenticity. Showcasing the characters’ daily routines, which although basic, brought a sense of reality to the screen that these other shows tend to miss while portraying teenagers. In off-screen interviews, several of the cast members stated that a day on set felt less like work and more like naturally hanging out with their friends. This showed in the way that many viewers stated they ‘forgot a script was involved’ and found the acting organic. Relatable issues and the inner feelings of modern teenagers are

presented throughout the show causing the characters to think: What path do I want to take? Am I making the right decisions? What is the best way to live life while balancing challenges? Although the acting felt natural, some viewers saw the show in a less positive light saying it was too confusing to follow and that they found themselves bored. Action/ adventure is within the top-three most popular genres for shows which could add to the reason why some people never declared Sterling Point as a recommended series. If you enjoy teen-dramas that include romance and uncovering secrets, the first two episodes alone can provide that. This show can present a new type of TV by giving something other than background noise and avoiding distractions. If following storylines becomes difficult and the back-and-forth romance stories aren’t what you usually look for, then the show may not appear high on your watchlist. Listening to the uncoverd secrets while doing the tasks can still bring entertainment. Overall, Sterling Point is a great choice if someone is looking to escape their reality and join another to find relatable characters along with relatable situations. The show is renewed for a second season but is yet to have a release date.

The Season 8 Love Island cast reunited in front of a live audience at Universal Studios, Hollywood this past Monday. The reunion touched on islanders’ lives outside of the villa and revisited past conflicts to see if there were any updates. On top of this, couples were questioned whether or not the spark in their relationship was still there. It was a night full of fights, love, unseen footage, confrontations, debates over pies and conclusions that left many fans with opinions and new views on their favorite islanders. The start of the reunion featured footage of the final four couples’ reaction to receiving their phones for the first time outside of the villa. Most of the reactions were what you would expect; the shock of the fame and the internet’s perception of the islanders. However, one reaction stood out from the others – Melanie Morano’s FaceTime with her sister. The fact that Morano was still shrugging off her sister’s opinion and defending Sincere Rhea was absurd. Other islanders, like the core four, jumping in after seeing this, while saying that Morano shouldn’t have to listen to her sister was difficult to hear. Morano got into a lot of conflict throughout the reunion which has been seen as either standing up for herself or mean girl behavior. Many original fans stood behind her while others could clearly see the fame was getting to her. It’s hard to switch sides on her, but it’s also strange that she was coming for others like Kenzie Annis before Sincere Rhea. It’s true, as before it was the ‘Melanie show’, but that doesn’t have to be a negative thing. To see her hold Sol Dean accountable was a satisfaction unlike any other. The two argued over whether or not the core four were mean girls and the true amount of pies that were thrown in Sol Dean’s face. With the draggedon complaining from Sol and claiming of being pied three times this summer, she was finally proven wrong. Hearing Morano flip Sol Deans’s saying from ‘mama happy’ to ‘mama’s a liar’ as a reaction to the
truth about the pies had fans running to social media. It’s easy to agree that everyone was shocked at how Sincere Rhea was barely confronted while the truth about Caleb came out. Respectful cowboy Caleb turned out to be more of a player than expected. He and Jaiden broke the internet as they exposed their relationship outside the Villa. Even though the chemistry and emotion in the villa didn’t seem high, it sounded like a wide range of emotions was felt in the Hamptons. To hear that Jaiden was led on on multiple occasions and to hear Caleb deny the claim was shocking at the least. What was even more shocking was Kayda jumping in, deflecting Jaiden’s perspective. To make it worse, she’s giggling with Zach even though they aren’t even officially dating, but exclusive. The reunion consisted of other small conflicts, some of which were not needed. Casa Amor bombshells like Chaz and Amora speaking on issues seemed like a way to calm down the special and have viewers excited for when their favorite islanders/couples discussed on topics. On top of this, popular couples seemed not to be mentioned as much because they didn’t have as many conflicts going on throughout social media. The special seemed to end abruptly by featuring the friendships in the villa despite all of them having previously argued. A good replacement for this could have been talking about upcoming projects like ‘Beyond the Villa,’ hearing from fans, or where couples want to see themselves in the future. Overall, the special was much more intriguing than last season’s reunion. Although some moments felt like the islanders were going in circles while others kept viewers on their toes, all in all, it was a great way to wrap up the summer and finally put some conflicts to rest.
