Ashton Slaughter Staff Reporter OSU is no stranger to playing title-caliber teams. Being in a conference like the Big 12 means that conference play is a battle night after night, as Mike Boynton has already called this year’s Big 12 “a gauntlet.” Non-conference play is looked at as a time for teams to prepare for the more prominent matchups down the road, and the Cowboys have a prime opportunity for an elite matchup on Thursday night against UConn. “They shoot it well, they’ve got great size at every position, they got experience,” Boynton said. “I’ve coached against a couple of national championship teams and this team looks like those teams.” The Huskies, who
are ranked No. 8 in the country, are fresh off the heels of defeating another Big 12 team, Iowa State, in the Phil Knight Invitational Championship. This pushed their record to 8-0 on the year, as they will now host the Cowboys in a contest for the Big East-Big 12 Battle series. Even with the high AP Poll rank-
ing, Boynton feels that they may be even better than their ranking. “I don’t know if eight’s high enough to be honest... they’re really good. They got all the ingredients you need to be a national championship contender,” Boynton said. See Huskies on page 2
