Welcome to The Music Center’s iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall for The Music Center’s BalletNOW ® : Superstars of Paris featuring Hugo Marchand & Friends. As we conclude another extraordinary season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center, I cannot imagine a more fitting finale than this remarkable celebration of ballet’s artistry, imagination and limitless possibilities.

Dance is traditionally experienced in a proscenium theatre, but BalletNOW was created to invite audiences to encounter ballet in a different way. Set within the intimate architecture of Frank Gehry’s masterpiece, these performances dissolve the distance between artist and audience, creating an unusually close encounter with the athleticism, artistry and emotional power of ballet. It is an incredible experience unlike any other and one that simply could not happen anywhere else.

This year’s curator, Paris Opera Ballet Étoile (Principal Dancer) Hugo Marchand, has embraced the BalletNOW concept with remarkable care. Rather than simply presenting excerpts from the classical repertory, Hugo has conceived these performances specifically for this space, bringing together an exceptional group of Paris Opera Ballet étoiles and soloists in a program designed for the unique intimacy of the Walt Disney Concert Hall. For Los Angeles audiences, the opportunity to experience artists of this caliber together in such a setting is extraordinarily rare.

The return of BalletNOW also celebrates an idea that has become an important part of The Music Center’s dance story. Beginning in 2015 with Herman Cornejo and Roberto Bolle, and continuing in 2017 with Tiler Peck, BalletNOW has invited some of the world’s most accomplished dancers to step into the role of curator, creating oneof-a-kind programs that bring together extraordinary artists from leading ballet companies around the globe. Each edition reflects the unique artistic voice of its curator while offering audiences fresh perspectives on the richness and diversity of ballet today. We are delighted to welcome back BalletNOW with Hugo’s distinctive vision. While this engagement brings our 2025–2026 dance season to a close, we are already looking ahead to another exciting year. This October, we open our 2026–2027 season with Ballet Festival: Jerome Robbins, a Joyce Theater production, curated by Tiler Peck. Much like BalletNOW, this special experience brings together an extraordinary roster of dancers from leading companies around the world through the vision of one exceptional artist, continuing our commitment to presenting ballet in innovative, collaborative and inspiring ways.

I hope you will join us as we continue to celebrate dance in all its forms. My heartfelt thanks to our Ballet Circle donors and to Center Dance Arts, founding supporter of Dance at The Music Center, for their steadfast dedication to bringing world-class dance to Los Angeles. HUGO MARCHAND

ÉTOILE DANCER

Hugo Marchand began dancing at the age of 9 at the Nantes Conservatory.

A few years later, he was awarded the Conservatory’s Gold Medal before entering the Paris Opera Ballet School in 2007. He joined the Paris Opera Ballet in 2011. He quickly rose through the ranks of the company and won the Bronze Medal at the International Varna Ballet Competition in 2014. In 2015, he received both the Cercle Carpeaux Prize and the AROP Dance Prize, which recognize the promising young talents of the Paris Opera. Marchand was named Étoile Dancer on March 3, 2017, during a tour in Japan where he performed La Sylphide. That same year, he was awarded the Benois de la Danse as Best Dancer of the Year. In 2022, he founded his non-profit organization, Hugo Marchand pour la Danse, driven by a desire to share and transmit dance through a strong social commitment. Through its projects, the organization works to make dance more accessible to a wider audience and to bring dance to communities and regions where access to dance remains limited. In 2023, he received a second Benois de la Danse for his performance in Mayerling. Marchand performs the great ballets of the Paris Opera repertoire while also having the opportunity to dance in numerous contemporary works choreographed by William Forsythe, Crystal Pite, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Mats Ek, Angelin Preljocaj and Jiří Kylián. He was honored with the distinction of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture. @humarchand

GERMAIN LOUVET

ÉTOILE DANCER

Germain Louvet began dancing at the age of 4 at the Conservatoire National de Région in Chalon-sur-Saône. He joined the Paris Opera Ballet School in 2005 and completed all his classes there by 2011. He joined the Paris Opera Ballet Corps as a Quadrille in September 2011 and was promoted to Coryphée in November 2013. In 2013, he received the Cercle Carpeaux Prize and was promoted to

Sujet in 2014. He has performed leading roles in the great works of the classical and contemporary repertoire, from Rudolf Nureyev to Carolyn Carlson, and in works by Georges Balanchine, Serge Lifar, Adolphe Adam, John Neumeier, Frederick Ashton, Pierre Lacotte and José Martinez. He has also participated in official tours in Australia, Japan and Russia. Benjamin Millepied, then artistic director of the Paris Opera Ballet, selected Louvet for his creations. Shortly after being promoted to Premier Danseur in November 2016, Louvet was named Étoile Dancer by Aurélie Dupont during a performance of Swan Lake on December 28, 2016.

ÉTOILE DANCER

Dorothée Gilbert joined the Paris Opera Ballet School in 1995. At the age of 17, she joined the Paris Opera Ballet Corps de Ballet, where she experienced a meteoric rise. In 2002, she was promoted to Coryphée and then Sujet in 2004. That same year, she received the AROP Public Prize and the Cercle Carpeaux Prize. She was named Première Danseuse in 2005. The following year, Gilbert received both the Ballet 2000 Prize and the Léonide Massine Prize. In 2007, following her performance in The Nutcracker with Manuel Legris, Gilbert was named Étoile at the age of 24. Renowned for her exceptional technique and dedication, she has since been regularly invited to international galas and has been a prominent figure in the Paris Opera Ballet repertoire. In 2009, she was nominated for the Benois de la Danse for her role as Lise in La Fille mal gardée. In 2013, she became the muse for the first Repetto perfume.

LÉONORE BAULAC

ÉTOILE DANCER

Léonore Baulac joined the Paris Opera Ballet School in 2005. She joined the Paris Opera Ballet Corps de Ballet in 2008. She was promoted to Coryphée in 2014 and received the AROP Dance Prize. She became Sujet in 2015 and then Première Danseuse the following year. Baulac was named Étoile on December 31, 2016, after her performance in Swan Lake by Rudolf Nureyev, where she portrayed the role of Odette/Odile for

the first time. As part of the official tours of the Paris Opera Ballet, she has performed in Australia (Sydney, 2013), Quebec (Montreal, 2014), Denmark (Copenhagen, 2015), the United States (New York, 2017), Russia (Novosibirsk, 2018), Spain (Madrid, 2019), Shanghai and Singapore (2019) and Japan (Tokyo, 2020). @leobaulac

HANNAH O’NEILL

ÉTOILE DANCER

Born in Tokyo, Hannah O’Neill began dancing at the age of 3 at Kishibe Ballet Studio. In 2008, she joined the Australian Ballet School, winning the Prix de Lausanne in 2009 at the age of 16 and, in 2010, the Youth America Grand Prix. In 2011, she joined the Corps de Ballet of the Paris Opera. She spent two seasons with The Dancers Company of The Australian Ballet, performing the roles of La Danseuse de rue, Les Deux Amies and La Reine des Dryades in Don Quixote. She has performed in many galas such as Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow (New York, 2010) and at the Ballet Asteras (Tokyo, 2013). She was awarded tenure in July 2013 and was promoted to Coryphée the same year. In July 2014, she received the Silver Medal at the Varna Competition (couple category with Jérémy-Loup Quer) and was awarded the prestigious Cercle Carpeaux Prize in October. She was promoted Sujet in December 2014 and First Dancer in November 2015. She received the Benois de la Danse Award for Best Female Dancer in May 2016 for the title role of Paquita by Pierre Lacotte. She was named Étoile by José Martinez, following the performance of George Balanchine’s Ballet Impérial at the Palais Garnier on March 2, 2023.

MARC MOREAU

ÉTOILE DANCER

Marc Moreau joined the Paris Opera Ballet School in 1988. He completed all his classes there, participating in demonstrations, annual performances and tours (France and Germany). He performed his first solo role in Play Bach by Claude Bessy. He joined the Paris Opera Ballet Corps de Ballet in 2004 at the age of 17, was promoted to Coryphée in 2008 and then Sujet in 2010, following the ballet’s annual competition. He received the AROP Award in 2010. Since joining the company, he has performed in numerous

repertoire productions as a soloist. As part of the company’s official tours abroad, Moreau has performed in China, Japan, Russia and Australia. He was promoted to Premier Danseur in 2019. LETIZIA GALLONI SOLOIST

Letizia Galloni joined the Paris Opera Ballet School in 2001 and entered the Paris Opera Ballet Corps de Ballet in 2009. She was promoted to Coryphée in 2011 and to Sujet in 2019. Galloni has appeared in many of the company’s major classical productions, including Giselle by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot, Cinderella and Swan Lake by Rudolf Nureyev, and Paquita by Pierre Lacotte. Early in her career, she was entrusted with featured roles including the Soloist in the Arabian Dance and the Pastoral in The Nutcracker, as well as the Pas de Trois and one of the Four Little Swans in Nureyev’s Swan Lake. She has also danced principal roles including Lise in Frederick Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée and the Chosen One in Pina Bausch’s The Rite of Spring. Her repertoire extends to works by renowned contemporary choreographers including Mats Ek, Angelin Preljocaj, William Forsythe, Pina Bausch, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Benjamin Millepied. Galloni has participated in several world premieres and contemporary creations, including Wayne McGregor’s L’Anatomie de la sensation, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s Boléro, Clear, Loud, Bright, Forward and Benjamin Millepied’s Night Ends. In 2018, she received the AROP Dance Award and was promoted to Sujet the following year.

ANTONIO CONFORTI SOLOIST

Antonio Conforti was born in Salerno, Italy, in 1994 and began dancing at the age of 8. At the age of 11, he entered the Ballet School of Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, where he trained for five years under the direction of Anna Razzi. In 2010, he joined the Paris Opera Ballet School under the direction of Elisabeth Platel. During the school’s 2012 performances, he worked with Violette

Verdy on Variations sur un thème de Paganini. That same year, he joined the Paris Opera Ballet under the direction of Brigitte Lefèvre and received the AROP Jeunes Espoirs award. Conforti was promoted to Coryphée in 2019 and to Sujet in 2022. Since joining the company, he has performed an extensive repertoire including works by Rudolf Nureyev, George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Roland Petit, Jiří Kylián, John Neumeier, William Forsythe and Pierre Lacotte. In 2020, he was selected to perform the role of the Young Man in Roland Petit’s Le Jeune Homme et la Mort alongside Paris Opera Ballet Étoile Marie-Agnès Gillot at La Seine Musicale in Paris. In 2024, he received the AROP Dance Award and performed the principal roles of Rothbart in Nureyev’s Swan Lake and Colas in La Fille mal gardée by Frederick Ashton.

ELENA BONNAY PIANIST

Born in Russia, Elena Bonnay graduated from the Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow. Since 1983, she has served as a rehearsal pianist for the Paris Opera Ballet. Her career is divided between her work at the Paris Opera Ballet, where she accompanies dance across a broad pianistic repertoire, and her collaborations on contemporary works by composers including Marius Constant, Patrick Sciortino, Philippe Hersant, Gustavo Beytelmann and Philip Glass. She has toured with the Paris Opera Ballet as a solo pianist in the United States, China, Japan and Brazil. Known for bringing a spiritual dimension to dance, Bonnay’s musicality and artistry have been recognized by numerous choreographers as well as by the Soloists and Étoiles of the Paris Opera Ballet. Bonnay regularly performs with renowned orchestras. She has notably performed J.S. Bach’s keyboard concertos, Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with national orchestras in Beijing and Ferrara, and Mozart’s concertos with the San Francisco Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Chamber Orchestra and the Paris Opera Orchestra. Passionate about world music, she is a member of Quinquet Nuevo Tango Tangamente and performs in France and abroad with bandoneonist and accordionist Max Bonnay.

JULIE SÉVILLAFRAYSSE CELLIST

The enchanting sound of Julie Sévilla-Fraysse’s cello explores genres, eras and traditions, taking on many forms while remaining rooted in classical excellence, elegance and modernity within the French tradition. A graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, SévillaFraysse is also a laureate of the Banque Populaire Foundation. After performing with the Orchestra of the Garde Républicaine and the Paris Opera Orchestra, Sévilla-Fraysse now dedicates herself to a solo career, appearing regularly at prestigious venues in France, Europe and the United States. She has performed major concertos from the classical repertoire with orchestras and tours with a solo cello program featuring Bach and folk music. Passionate about chamber music, she has shared the stage with renowned artists, including pianist Abdel Rahman El Bacha and Anastasia Calmus in the poetry-andmusic program French Touch. She also forms a duo with hip hop dancer Yann Antonio, and she frequently appears alongside harpist Anja Linder and violinist Laurent Korcia in a program dedicated to Franz Schubert and to music’s healing power. Sévilla-Fraysse also trains in music mediation and participates in social initiatives, offering compassionate concerts in Parisian hospitals and for children with disabilities. She also serves as artistic director of CoCreate Humanity, a peersupport humanitarian community. @juliesevillafraysse

As a steward of The Music Center of Los Angeles County, we recognize that we occupy land originally and still inhabited and cared for by the Tongva, Tataviam, Serrano, Kizh and Chumash Peoples.
