Doncaster dog owners are being reminded of the rules they need to adhere to, following the renewal of an order that sets out their responsibilities when out and about in Doncaster. Since 2017, a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) has been in place across Doncaster, making clear what people in charge of dogs must and must not do. For instance, it requires them to ensure that their pets are wearing leads in certain parts of the city, identifies those places that dogs cannot be taken for safety reasons, and stipulates

As such, the council is encouraging members of the public to familiarise themselves with the rules here and to be responsible pet owners at all times. If a dog owner is caught breaching any of the rules enforced by this order, then they could be hit with a fine of up £100. Over the past three years alone, City of Doncaster Council has issued 324 of these fixed penalty notices for dog control offences.
