Tramlines line-Up revealed Following HUge demand
Tramlines Festival has confirmed the first wave of artists set to perform at Hillsborough Park from 24 to 26 July 2026. Headliners Fatboy Slim (Friday), Courteeners (Saturday) and Wolf Alice (Sunday) are joined by Kaiser Chiefs (Friday) Blossoms (Saturday) and Wet Leg (Sunday), with additional performances from Gabrielle, Lottery Winners, Rick Astley, Reverend and the Makers, The K’s, The Vaccines, Vanessa Carlton, The Enemy, The Everly Pregnant Brothers and a disco hosted by Day Fever. This announcement follows record-breaking demand for tickets with over 20,000 fans signed up for early access to the pre-sale. More than two-thirds of all tickets have already been sold,
marking the fastest sales in the festival’s history and putting Tramlines on track for an early sell-out. Pre-sale tickets go live from 6pm on Thursday 27 November.
Friday sets the tone for a huge weekend, with Fatboy Slim bringing his legendary big-beat energy to the Tramlines main stage for his first major outdoor festival performance in Sheffield. With era-defining tracks like “Praise You” and “Right Here, Right Now”, the Brighton-born icon promises a sensational start to the festival. Supporting on Friday are Kaiser Chiefs, back with a bag of indie anthems and festival-sized choruses. The rest of the day will feature The Vaccines, rising live favourites The K’s, and a Tramlines debut
for Vanessa Carlton.
Saturday sees Courteeners headline, closing out the night with the kind of set that’s earned them a cult-like following across the UK. Their return is one of the most requested by Tramlines fans, promising big singalongs and even bigger crowds. Blossoms play in the supporting slot, bringing with them a Mercury Prize nomination and an ever-growing list of festival anthems. They’re joined by Rick Astley, still riding high from a critically acclaimed second act and viral collaborations with everyone from Foo Fighters to Blossoms themselves. Gabrielle and Everly Pregnant Brothers add extra depth to the day’s line-up. Meanwhile, Day Fever bring their wildly popular daytime disco experience to
Hillsborough Park for the first time. Founded in early 2024 by actress Vicky McClure, filmmaker Jonny Owen, and Reverend & the Makers’ frontman Jon McClure, the Day Fever takeover is all about fun and floor-fillers, reimagining the club scene for the daytime dance crowd.
Sunday closes with Wolf Alice, one of the UK’s most exciting live bands. Known for their Mercury Prize-winning mix of grunge, alt-rock and haunting ballads, their set is set to be a standout moment in Tramlines history. They’re joined by Wet Leg, whose rapid rise and off-kilter pop brilliance has made them a major festival draw. Sheffield favourites Reverend and the Makers return, alongside The

Enemy and the ever-joyful Lottery Winners, rounding off the weekend with heart, swagger and plenty to sing about. In the run-up to the announcement, Tramlines rolled out a tonguein-cheek, ‘Spill the Beans’, teaser campaign. Hundreds across the UK received specially branded tins of beans in the post, each featuring the name of a 2026 artist ahead of the official reveal. Fans were also invited to donate food to the S6 Foodbank in Hillsborough on Friday 21 November, where anyone making a contribution received one of the limited-edition tins in return.

Tramlines 2026 line-up revealed Following Biggest Demand in Festival’s History
The campaign continued Tramlines’ commitment to local causes, with further activity to be explored throughout the year.
As ever, Tramlines continues to invest in Sheffield’s cultural life beyond the weekend itself. Since launching in 2022, The Tramlines Trust has awarded over £120,000 in grants to local organisations, with more than half of that going directly to projects based in Hillsborough. The Trust is a dedicated micro-charity built to make the festival’s community impact more accessible, transparent and sustainable. It supports grassroots initiatives across culture, young people, education, skills, mental health and more. The Trust sits at the heart of Tramlines’ belief that festivals should give back to the people and places that make them possible.
Tramlines is also shortlisted in four categories at the upcoming UK Festival Awards, with nominations for Inner City Festival of the Year, Marketing Campaign
of the Year, Headline Performance of the Year for Pulp, and the Sarah Nulty Community Impact Award. Winners will be announced on Tuesday 2 December at the ceremony in Manchester.
Timm Cleasby, Tramlines Operations Director, said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to our amazing Tramlines community who have helped make this a record breaking year. I’m chuffed we’ve been able to highlight the brilliant S6 Foodbank in our launch campaign, they do vital work in the community and we will continue to support them. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Hillsborough Park for another huge weekend of music, comedy and fun. See you in the summer!”
Tickets for Tramlines 2026 will go on pre-sale at 6pm on Thursday 27 November for those who have signed up via the website. Any remaining tickets will hit general sale at 6pm on Friday 28 November, subject to availability. The festival returns to Hillsborough Park from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 July 2026.

News, Information and Advice

Three maintained schools in the city are set to benefit from an expanded Government scheme that looks to cut their energy bills so that money can instead be spent on education essentials such as textbooks and teachers.
As part of an expanded scheme to fund solar panels for NHS sites, military sites and schools, more than 250 schools across England have signed agreements to benefit from a share of up to £100 million in funding from Great British Energy and government for new solar panels and other energy efficiency measures. The funding comes from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, in partnership with the Department for Education.
Three maintained primary schools in the city are included in this stage of the scheme – Arbourthorne Community Primary School, Prince Edward Primary School and Walkley Primary School. They will be able to install Great British Energy solar panels to cut their energy bills. Savings will then be reinvested in the schools for items like textbooks and stationary or to fund staffing costs.
The scheme will target schools and colleges with buildings that are able to accommodate solar panels in areas most in need. Three other primary schools in the Oasis Academy Group –Don Valley, Fir Vale and Watermead – have also been included, making it six primary schools in total in Sheffield.
Announcing the news, Energy Minister Michael Shanks said: “Great British Energy is helping schools to save money on bills, meaning more money for textbooks and technology. Across the country, solar panels are going up on rooftops to power classrooms with clean, homegrown power. This is our clean energy superpower mission in action, protecting our public services with lower bills and energy security.” For the Council, Cllr Dawn Dale commented: “Great British Energy is helping schools to save money on bills, meaning more money for textbooks and technology. Across the country, solar panels are going up on rooftops to power classrooms with clean, homegrown power. This is our clean
energy superpower mission in action, protecting our public services with lower bills and energy security.”
And local headmasters were delighted. Vanessa Langley of Arbourthorne Community School said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to receive Great British Energy funding to support our environmental and sustainability initiatives at Arbourthorne Community Primary School. The solar panels will enhance the work we have undertaken with Let’s Go Zero and increase the scale of our development. The children are enjoying being part of our environmental improvements and it is raising vital awareness as we plan for a more sustainable future.” While Chris Wallis of Walkley Primary remarked: “We are delighted that Walkley Primary School will be benefitting from the Government scheme for the installation of Great British Energy solar panels. This exciting investment in the Walkley Primary School community will support our commitment to sustainability and reduce our energy costs, allowing more resources to be invested directly into enriching teaching and learning. The new solar panels will provide our pupils with reallife opportunities to learn about renewable energy, climate action and sustainability. With our warm community spirit, we are committed to giving our children the very best start, supporting them to be golden citizens empowered to make a difference in life.”
And Matt Sieczkarek of Prince Edward Primary observed: “We’re delighted to be selected for this Government initiative. When our school was built 10 years ago, we always felt it would have been the icing on the cake to have solar panels and other energy saving measures. And now, following this news, we feel we will have the chance to save money on energy and focus our finances on what really matters: the pupils.”
choosing your tree
With Christmas fast approaching and Christmas trees go on sale at RHS Plant Centres, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) shares its definitive guide to choosing and caring for Christmas trees – helping households keep their trees looking fresh, fragrant and full throughout the festive season.
Steph Carr of the RHS says: “Choose a fresh, locally grown tree that looks green and healthy and is shedding very few needles. Don’t bring your tree indoors too early and if bought in advance, keep it outside in water until you’re ready to decorate it.” Before decorating, saw 25mm off the trunk and stand the tree in a holder filled with water, topping it up daily. Trees last longest in cooler rooms, away from heat sources such as fires or radiators, which can cause rapid drying and needle drop. Steph adds: “Position your tree somewhere cool, keep it watered, and it should look good for around four weeks. A little care really does go a long way.”
Choosing Your Tree – The RHS suggests considering the characteristics of the different cultivars to help inform your choice.
• Norway spruce –traditional with a classic scent, shorter indoor life and quick to drop its needles
• Nordmann fir – one of the most popular Christmas trees in the UK due to its soft, slow-todrop needles and sturdy branches
• Blue spruce – striking blue tone, excellent needle retention
• Fraser fir – compact and fragrant, ideal for smaller rooms
• Lodgepole pine – are bushier than other Christmas trees with long deep green pine scented needles that sometimes bear cones.
• Korean fir- Dark green, slightly curling needles. Excellent needle-holding quality.
Pot-Grown and Alternative Trees - For a more sustainable choice, pot-grown trees can be brought indoors briefly over Christmas, then returned outside and cared for year-round. Potted trees can also be planted in the garden in a sunny spot and dug up and potted each winter.
Many local councils offer Christmas tree collection schemes.
reservoir levels update
solar power for schools heating home on the cheap
Rainfall brought to Yorkshire by storm Claudia has led to further improvement in Yorkshire’s reservoirs, rivers and groundwater levels. As a result of rainfall over the last seven days, reservoir levels are recovering well at 80.5%, following a record-breaking increase of 15%, up from 65.3% last week - and the Hull aquifer levels are 46.6% - up from 38.2%.
The increase in levels demonstrates Yorkshire Water’s recovery plan is well on track as drought permits have been implemented across the region to boost reservoir recovery.
Levels in the reservoir groups in the region are as follows:
• Reservoirs in the Washburn Valley – 80% up from 60%
• Reservoirs in Nidderdale – 81% - up from 73%
• Reservoirs in Calderdale and Kirklees – 86% up from 74%
• Reservoirs around Sheffield – 80% - up from 51%
The varied rainfall across the region in recent weeks means some reservoirs are now full, while others remain below 60%.
Dave Kaye ofYorkshire Water, said: “The impact of storm Claudia over the weekend, and our continued drought permit activity, has led to another record-breaking uplift of reservoir levels. Whilst nine weeks of positive recovery does not entirely make up for the shortfall left by 28 weeks of decline due to the driest spring and summer on record in the region, it represents a very encouraging step in the right direction. We continue to see varied levels of recovery across the region, and we are working hard to balance those supplies and move water around via our grid network, but in some cases, this is not possible, and those reservoirs need to recover naturally through rainfall. Whilst our recovery plan is on track, Yorkshire remains in official drought status. Recent Environment Agency reports indicate that lower than average rainfall over winter would result in continued drought and risks to water supplies next year, so we need to continue managing our resources very carefully.”
With data revealing that British homes may drop to a chilly 12.8°C as outdoor temperatures plummet this week, home heating experts have revealed top unusual tips to help Brits stay warm whilst keeping bills low this winter:
1. Raid your sock drawer If you have gaps underneath your doors, you’re letting precious heat escape and cold air seep in. But there’s no need to splash out on expensive draught excluders. Try cutting an old pair of tights and stuffing them with socks, or even rice or lentils.
2. Create a designated ‘warm room’
Most people spend the majority of their time at home in one room, whether that’s working in the kitchen or catching up on TV in the living room. A simple way to save money on heating bills is to focus all your efforts and energy on heating only the room you’re spending time in. If you’re opting for this method, be sure to keep the doors closed to prevent cold air from seeping in from the rest of the house and contain the heat you’ve generated in a smaller area. It’s also important to stop the radiators from freezing in unused rooms. You can do this by adjusting the thermostat to the star position.
3. Use a fan
Just like standing fans can help circulate cool air in the summer, radiator fans are designed to improve the circulation of warm air from your radiator in the winter. This means
homes heat faster and more efficiently, saving energy and money.
4. Keep your furry friends close Who needs a hot water bottle when you’ve got a furry friend? Snuggle up with your cat or dog under a blanket for ultimate warmth and companionship.
5. Change your curtains Windows are one of the top sources of heat loss. So, consider investing in thermal curtains which are easy to install and can make a huge difference, especially on singleglazed windows. They work by creating a ‘dead air’ space between the window and the rest of the room.
6. Leave your oven door open Try leaving your oven door open the next time you’ve finished cooking. Hot ovens offer readymade heat that would otherwise be wasted. Plus, leaving the door open means the oven’s fan uses less energy when extracting the heat – a win-win!
7. DIY double glazing If you have single-glazing and can’t replace it this winter, there are several inexpensive options to help insulate your windows. Window film is a great way to add an extra layer of thermal insulation to glass without drastically changing its appearance. Window foil can block out natural light, but is even more effective at warming up a space, helping to insulate the glass and reflect heat into the room.
top tips for frozen pipes
The Met Office has issued an amber warning for snow in parts of the region which increases the risk of frozen and burst pipes.
Yorkshire Water is urging customers to act now to protect their homes and properties as the cold snap of wintery weather, including snow and ice, takes hold. Insulating exposed pipes especially in unheated areas like attics, basements, garages, and external walls, is one of the most effective ways to prevent them from freezing. Lagging pipes with insulation helps to maintain warmth and reduces the risk of cracks and bursts when temperatures drop, often leading to costly repairs and water supply disruptions. Emily Brady of Yorkshire Water, said: “Burst pipes can cause lots of damage to customers’ homes, but simple steps, such as lagging exposed pipes protects them from the cold weather. Check for pipes, taps, cisterns, tanks, and water meters in unheated areas that might be exposed to the cold. There’s lots of tips on our website that customers can follow on how to get their homes winter ready and protect

them from unexpected bursts. This will also help insulate your hot water system and could save you money on bills. You can also protect your outdoor taps with a tap cover to stop them freezing.”
Lagging pipes is a preventative measure, but Yorkshire Water also has advice for customers who have a frozen pipe. If you turn your tap on and find water is not running, it may be frozen. Here’s what you can do to get water running again:
• Check all exposed pipes for any leaks or bursts - if you can’t see anything then turn the tap on at your kitchen sink and heat the pipe with a hairdryer.
• Never use a naked flame to defrost a pipe.
• If a pipe has burst, then turn your water off at the stop tap to minimise damage and water loss and find a trusted plumber via Water Safe. Yorkshire Water has a priority services register for customers who may need extra help such as the elderly or new families. If customers do feel they may need extra support, or know someone else who does, they may benefit from being signed up to the priority services register.

FOOTBALLR UNDUP
United boss Chris Wilder hailed his side’s display as the Blades took the Steel City derby spoils after a convincing 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
A Tyrese Campbell brace and a Tom Cannon strike gave United a deserved win, with the Blades creating several other opportunities to add to their impressive tally. After the game, Wilder handed out plenty of praise to his players, who also earned a clean sheet in a good all-round team display.
Wilder said: “It’s been a tough period, I think for both clubs as well, for different reasons.
The struggles that our opponents have had over quite a number of months, especially recently. Going up to Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer at the end of the game, I think the way they’ve handled the situation and conducted themselves is absolute credit to them, not just pros, but humans really,
in terms of what they’ve had to deal with and how they’ve had to galvanise their group alongside Henrik. “We always knew that this was going to be a tough afternoon for us. It was on our toes to win the game of football because of the start that we’ve had and the results that we’ve had. We always knew we were going to have to overcome an honest group of players, which we eventually did. “It was a really solid, strong performance, defensively, sound. I thought we got after them on the press and we created chances as well. We were good out of possession. We got the press right, we forced them to go long, we
looked after their best player, I believe, even though he’s dangerous.
There wasn’t any errors in our play that allowed them to get a head of steam up, any little periods of sustained pressure that they had, we saw it out. We’re never going to 100% come here and walk over the top of these players because of their attitude and their commitment. We had to quieten the crowd, which obviously we did with the goal.
“Good for us today that we defended well, we had a desire to keep another clean sheet and I thought we looked particularly threatening in terms of when we created and the possession that we had.”

Millers extend run
Rotherham United successfully extended their impressive unbeaten streak in League One to eight consecutive matches.
However, their hopes of securing a victory were dashed by a spectacular equaliser from Reading’s Charlie Savage, whose stunning strike denied the visitors all three points.
The game saw Josh Benson give the Millers an early lead in the first half, igniting hopes of a positive away result. Despite their advantage, Rotherham faced a
ORCHARD PARK

a diFFiCUlt day — BUt a Brighter FUtUre ahead
After the derby defeat at the weekend Owls Joint Administrator Kris Wigfield published a rallying call to Wednesday fans along with an update on how things are progressing in the search for a new owner...
Yesterday really hurt.
A Steel City Derby is a fixture that means everything to our supporters, and a result like that is incredibly difficult to take. But the job of Julian, Paul and myself is to lead from the
front, steady the club, and make sure we all pick ourselves up.
The players are hurting, the staff are hurting, and the supporters are hurting — but this is a moment to stay together, not fall apart. We are going through the hardest period in Sheffield Wednesday’s history, and results like yesterday’s are a symptom of that wider context. It will not be like this forever. There are positive developments happening off the pitch.
We have received a
number of good offers for the club, and over the coming days we will be evaluating them in detail. As I said on Friday, our hope is to grant preferred bidder status by 5 December. That would allow the EFL’s processes to begin and move the club a significant step closer to new ownership and a new chapter.
At the same time, I have to be honest: there may be more difficult news coming, including the possibility of a further points deduction. I want to be upfront about that
because our supporters deserve transparency.
But I also want to be clear: the period between now and January should be as tough as it gets.
If we secure a buyer as planned, January becomes a chance to regroup, strengthen, and start building a far brighter future — one this club and its supporters absolutely deserve. In the meantime, we must all dig deep. We need your backing for our staff that pour their heart and soul into the club every day — and for
Henrik and the players to get through these incredibly challenging circumstances. We need your support in the stadium, your energy, your belief — because that is what will get us through this dark period. Better days are coming. A new start is within reach.
And together, we will get there.

roVers MUst BaCK UP aWay Points With hoMe Wins - McCann
Grant McCann made no apologies for repeating himself as he declared that Rovers simply must make points on the road count by following them up with wins on home soil.
The Rovers boss made the point following the draw at Reading last month and did the same again as his side emerged with a credible share of the
stern challenge from Reading, who are now managed by former Millers boss Leam Richardson.
The Royals controlled much of the play during the first period and pressed hard for an equaliser, with Savage and Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan creating several halfchances that narrowly missed the mark.
In the opening moments, Rotherham appeared slightly sluggish, and their defensive organisation was tested when Reading’s Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan broke free, racing past the visiting defence. Although he managed to bypass the rushing goalkeeper Cameron Dawson, Ehibhatiomhan’s shot from a tight angle curled across the face of the empty net, narrowly missing the target.
This missed opportunity could have altered the course of the game early on. The visitors responded swiftly, and in the 20th minute, they found the breakthrough through a well-crafted team move. After a smart build-up on the right flank, Denzel Hall delivered a clever, precise pass into the box. Josh Benson timed his run perfectly and guided a composed shot past Reading’s goalkeeper Joel Pereira from just inside the penalty area, giving Rotherham a deserved lead. Despite the setback, Reading maintained their attacking intent and exerted considerable control over possession leading into halftime. Both Savage and Ehibhatiomhan came close with efforts that tested Dawson, but neither could find the net before the break, leaving the score at 1-0.
The second half saw Reading ramp up their tempo, pushing hard for an equaliser. Rotherham, seemingly content to hold onto their slim lead, defended resolutely. Dawson was called into action to make a crucial save, tipping over a daring 30-yard strike from Savage that was destined for the top corner. However, the hosts’ persistence paid off when Savage
spoils from their trip to Stevenage.
With league action presenting back-toback home games against Peterborough United and Stockport County - sandwiching a pair of outings in cup competition - McCann said Rovers must rediscover their strong form at the Eco-Power Stadium in order to build on good away results.
“I know I said this after the Reading draw that any point away from home is good but I’ll say again that we really need to take care of business at home,” he said.
“I said to the boys after the game at Stevenage that we’ve got a decent point away from home but the challenge is to get the wins at home.
“We can certainly be better from an attacking
unleashed a powerful, rasping shot from a similar distance, which sailed past Dawson into the net, scoring a spectacular equaliser that left the game finely poised with ten minutes remaining.
As the match neared its conclusion, both sides pressed forward, but neither could find a winning goal. Rotherham’s solid defensive efforts and Reading’s relentless pursuit of an equaliser resulted in an electrifying contest that ultimately ended in a draw, preserving the Millers’ unbeaten run but denying them a much-desired victory.

point of view but I think it was a little bit of a building block for us and we need to make it count.
“We can’t expect everything to turn straight away. The building block was getting that point on the board and we did that.
“We can build off it now and we need to focus on our home games.
“We’ve got the games

coming up with Peterborough and Stockport and it’s a real opportunity for us to put a stamp on those games.”
