REFLECTIONS FROM THE CHAIR Every year since our inception in 2013, our committee has met to select 40 young people who demonstrate outstanding leadership, professional accomplishment, and community service. And every year, a theme emerges among our honorees that offers a window into what our county values most at that time. This year, as we celebrate our thirteenth class of Loudoun 40 Under 40 (having paused the program in 2020 during the pandemic), there is a common thread: their work is deeply human. Among this year’s honorees are coaches, counselors, caregivers. Consultants, contractors, and conservationists. Those who create, compose, and choreograph. And those who connect us to our homes, resources, opportunities, and one another. Each is deeply dedicated to their craft. All act in service to others. Not one has walked a straight path to success. There is something particularly meaningful about that in Loudoun right now. In a county where data centers are among our hottest topics of conversation and artificial intelligence is changing how we think about work itself, this year’s class feels like a reminder of the value of preserving the best of human traits: Character. Creativity. Courage. Connection. Compassion. Care. Technology will continue to change the way we work and live. But communities are still built by people who show up for other people.

This year also marks a first for Loudoun 40 Under 40. We are welcoming an honorary member of the class whose work and service made him so very deserving of this recognition, but whose stage 4 cancer diagnosis changed the timeline. Some things should not wait. Recognition is one of them. The 2026 class represents many different professions, backgrounds and paths to leadership, but each has chosen to invest their talents here. In the pages ahead, you will read their stories in their own words and see the many ways they are caring for and contributing to this community. From beginner classes to pre-professional programs, we offer a place for every dancer to build confidence and grow both as performers and individuals.

Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud The professional accomplishment I am most proud of is helping build The Local Group Loudoun into one of Loudoun County’s top-producing real estate teams, surpassing $350 million in sales volume while earning the trust and confidence of hundreds of families during some of life’s most difficult times. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement Most significant to me is serving as Rotary’s liaison to Boulder Crest Retreat. I love coordinating monthly dinners with different Rotary members to serve veterans and their families. Creating connection, gratitude, and support for those who have served our country is work I am deeply honored to do.

Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud I am most proud of becoming owner and director of DAL (formerly The Dance Academy of Loudoun) in 2025. After dancing there as a high school student and working there for 16 years, it is incredibly meaningful to now help create the same sense of confidence, belonging, and community that the studio once gave me. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement As Vice Chair of the Leesburg Performing Arts Commission, I help support and strengthen the performing arts in our community. As an original commission member appointed in 2025, I helped establish the commission’s foundation and assisted in creating its first community performance events.

A current goal that’s important to you and why My current goal is to thoughtfully scale The Local Group Loudoun while preserving the trust, relationships, and personalized service that built our reputation. Growth is important, but never at the expense of the client experience.

A current goal that’s important to you and why One of my current goals is connecting with other business owners, especially women, to build meaningful relationships, create new opportunities, and learn from others balancing business leadership and family life. Building a strong network of support is important to me as a new business owner.

Personal background and family information I was born and raised in Purcellville and now live in Leesburg with my family. Loudoun has always been home, and my entire family still lives here. Growing up and raising my own family in this community has given me a deep appreciation for the people and relationships here in this amazing county.

Personal background and family information I feel incredibly lucky to have married my high school sweetheart and to have already shared 12 years of marriage and counting. Together we are raising our two sweet boys, ages 4 and 1, in Leesburg. And our family would not be complete without our loving chocolate lab, Stella.

Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family My favorite hobbies include walking on the W&OD Trail, exploring trails at Morven Park, taking Solidcore classes, traveling, and attending polo matches to watch my nephews compete.

Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family One of my favorite hobbies is reading books that I know will have a happy ending. Life can be stressful, and I enjoy stories that feel comforting, uplifting, and leave you happier than when you started.

Favorite thing about living/working in Loudoun My favorite thing about living and working in Loudoun County is the relationships. As a lifelong resident, I’m constantly surrounded by familiar faces — from childhood friends and former classmates to past clients and community members — which creates a strong sense of connection and belonging.

My husband always jokes that I cannot go anywhere without running into someone I know, but honestly, I love the feeling of connection and community everywhere we go.

One piece of advice you’d give your younger self Be patient with yourself. You won’t always be sitting in a cubicle wondering what’s next. The hard work, uncertainty, and lessons along the way are preparing you for opportunities greater than you can imagine. Trust the process.

Inspired by Irish hospitality and Middleburg tradition, we bring people together through quality food, warm gatherings, and a legacy built by family.

“Elevator speech” about you and your company I’m the executive director of the Goose Creek Association, where we work to protect and restore the Goose Creek watershed through conservation, education, and community engagement—because healthy waterways, protected landscapes, and informed communities are essential to Loudoun’s quality of life.

Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud My favorite accomplishment has been designing our custom wooden three-tiered board for our grazing tables. It has become a signature part of our catering style — turning food into art — and one of our most sought-after features for intimate and elevated events. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement I’m proud to serve on the board of the Middleburg Community Center. Volunteering there and donating holiday roasts and turkeys to local nonprofits and families in need has been one of the most meaningful ways I’m able to give back to our community. A current goal that’s important to you and why My current goal is to complete our rebrand to create a clear vision of what we offer — from everyday quality food to elevated catering — while expanding our bone broth into grocery stores. Some things are meant to be shared locally, while others are meant to reach a wider table. Personal background and family information My parents moved from Phoenix to Loudoun County 26 years ago so my mom could start her farm and build Fields of Athenry. Years later, my recovery from brain surgery became part of our story, inspiring one of our signature products. I’m proud to now help shape what comes next.

Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud The Rising Stars program through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation gave me the opportunity to turn professional recognition into support for a cause that was deeply personal to me. In honor of a college friend living with cystic fibrosis, I organized a networking event and an indoor cycling fundraiser that raised more than $4,000 for research. It reinforced my belief that leadership is most meaningful when it is used in service of others. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement I’m proud of the Next Gen Creekkeepers program that we implemented this year. Working in conjunction with incredible environmental professionals who willingly volunteered their time was not only great for the students and our county, but it was also immensely valuable to me. Plus, the high school students we had in the program from across Loudoun were so amazing! A current goal that’s important to you and why Growing The Green Loudoun Podcast with Loudoun Now is an important goal of mine because we have a chance to amplify the voices of Loudoun’s incredible environmental community and mobilize their expertise to educate the public and create positive change.

Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family Outside of work, riding my horse and being part of the foxhunting community in Middleburg is what keeps me grounded. It provides a meaningful outlet to reset, reflect, and return with a clear mind, fresh perspective, and renewed drive.

Personal background and family information I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York — go Bills and Sabres! — and have been grateful to work in Loudoun since 2024. My husband, Aaron, and I have been married since 2011, and we have an incredible 8-year-old son, Maximilian, and a fluffy Cockapoo named Pierogi. Above all, I am a devoted Catholic, and my faith is at the core of who I am.

Favorite thing about living/working in Loudoun I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of a generation that grew up in Loudoun County, learned the value of hard work through family business, and now has the opportunity to lead those businesses into their next chapter.

Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family I love birding, gardening, and spending time outdoors. I’m also passionate about youth ministry and serve with Fidelis Sisterhood, helping mentor and form young women in faith and virtue. I read every day and am an avid runner, currently training for my first marathon.

One piece of advice you’d give your younger self Leadership is about managing the priorities that come up in the day to day while still moving and working toward your end goals which are continually evolving. When it feels too heavy, take a moment to breathe and remember where you were a week, a month, and a year ago. You’ve got it.

Favorite thing about living/working in Loudoun I love the multi-dimensional character of Loudoun County, and I’ve really enjoyed exploring the area. I am blessed to have our office in beautiful Middleburg, where I’ve developed a love for Hunt Country culture. Loudoun’s gorgeous landscape is something I’m proud to play a role in protecting. One piece of advice you’d give your younger self Strive to keep your life rightly ordered— know what matters most, and don’t let professional success come at the expense of your faith, family, or the people you love.

“Elevator speech” about you and your company I’m the Co-Founder of The Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit created in honor of my brother, SPC Douglas J. Green, who was killed in action. For the past 14 years, we’ve sent care packages to deployed service members worldwide, bringing comfort, connection, and reminder from home. Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud Co-founding The Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation is the accomplishment I’m most proud of. What started from personal loss became a lasting mission that has supported thousands of deployed service members while bringing our community together in an incredibly meaningful way. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement The Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation has shipped 6,500+ care packages to deployed service members worldwide. We’ve partnered with LCPS schools, including hosting large care package events at Potomac Falls High School (alumni), bringing students and community together to support deployed troops. A current goal that’s important to you and why One of my biggest goals is continuing to expand the reach of The Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation so we can support even more deployed service members and military families. I want to grow both our community involvement and year-round outreach so no service member feels forgotten while serving. Personal background and family information I’m a Loudoun County native, wife, and mom of three who is deeply rooted in this community. My hometown holds a special place in my heart. and I’m so proud my children get to grow up in Loudoun County. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family Outside of work and family, my favorite hobby is Burn Boot Camp. Fitness has become my reset, confidence boost, and stress relief. I love challenging myself, staying active, and being part of a motivating community that pushes me to grow. Favorite thing about living/working in Loudoun What I love most about Loudoun County is the sense of connection here. I was raised in this community, and over the years I’ve seen firsthand how people consistently show up for one another during both celebrations and difficult times. It’s so special to now raise my own children in the same place. One piece of advice you’d give your younger self Stop waiting until you feel “ready.” Some of the most meaningful opportunities in life come from taking the leap before you have everything figured out. Trust yourself, stay authentic, and never underestimate the impact you can make simply by showing up as you are.

“Elevator speech” about you and your company We lead a multifaceted group of organizations focused on the construction and built-world industries, including Carpenter Beach Construction, which specializes in historic preservation, niche commercial contracting, and fine renovation work, and Loudoun Stairs, which provides complete stair and rail solutions throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud Acquisition of Loudoun Stairs Inc. After nearly two years of pursuit, the deal was closed at the end of April 2026. This transaction grew our collective family by nearly 40, allowing us to better serve our existing clients and lead Loudoun Stairs into the future with a clear refreshed vision.

Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement The Waterford Mill Stabilization project and currently, the restoration of the John Wesley Community Church. Carpenter Beach, with leadership coming from my partial oversight, has donated labor, materials, and man hours to provide donation improvements to these structures.

Personal background and family information I’m a lifelong resident of Loudoun County from a family that traces its roots back to Loudoun in 1970 and a fourth generation builder. I’m a graduate of Woodgrove High School and Virginia Tech with a Building Construction Degree/Real Estate Minor. I’m a proud local entrepreneur and community member. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family Outdoor sports and farm work. I greatly enjoy golfing competitively with friends. I am an active member at Loudoun Golf and Country Club. Additionally, I assist my family and greatly enjoy helping with growing vegetables on their farm, helping with the care of a dozen horses and all the related upkeep. Favorite thing about living/working in Loudoun My favorite thing about it is the people. We are such a diverse group. From the born and raised crowd, to the transplants, I always feel everyone is two people away from knowing everyone else in the community and we all collectively have similar goals: making our community the best place to live! One piece of advice you’d give your younger self Network, network, network: it is the single most powerful tool to grow your business and personal success. Every fellow community member is a wealth of knowledge within their trade, hobby, or own work group. You never know who you will meet or who you’ll cross paths with in the future.

NATHAN COOK Founder & President Summit Restoration Age: 35

Age: 37 “Elevator speech” about you and your company I’m a principal cloud engineer at Two Six Technologies, a government contractor focusing on solutions that support the Department of Defense, Intel Community, and other federal partners. After a decade at AWS, I bring secured-cloud experience to missions where reliability isn’t a metric, it’s the mandate. Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud I started at AWS as a Cloud Support Associate (L3) supporting private sector customers but then grew to a Senior Solutions Architect (L6). I’m now a principal engineer focused on mission outcomes. I have 14 years of IT experience earning four promotions, six publications, and SME-level accreditations in Observability/Monitoring and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement I provide a permanent home for neglected and special-needs rescue animals from South Korea and support adoption agencies through fundraising and social media. I’ve also completed the Ride to End Alzheimer’s the last three years, riding nearly 200 miles and raising thousands of dollars for research. A current goal that’s important to you and why Long-term, I want to open my own animal rescue fundraising organization or build a sanctuary. My three rescue dogs, Eddy, Lotto, and Daisy, all came from South Korea, but the need spans the continent. Traveling to Asia to join rescue efforts on the ground is the first step toward that bigger goal. Personal background and family information I grew up in Richmond, VA, raised by my father, a single parent who worked 75 hour weeks to make ends meet with help from my grandmother (now battling Alzheimer’s; the reason for my charity rides). Additionally, I’m a first-generation college grad who paid my way through D3 football with a degree in information science. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family I’m always building on something in my life. Most days that means Ironman training: swimming, biking, lifting, running. Other days it’s a meal worth eating, a book worth finishing, or an outfit worth wearing. Video games are the off-switch. The constant is being deliberate and focused while also knowing when to relax. Favorite thing about living/working in Loudoun I came from lower-income Richmond to one of the wealthiest counties in the country — surrounded by people who had every advantage I didn’t. I built a life here on my own terms. What I appreciate is the diversity, and the daily reminder that it doesn’t matter how you start but how you finish. One piece of advice you’d give your younger self Even when you’re down in your head, remember that you’re up on your feet.

We exist to restore and transform spaces for families and communities to thrive. Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud I’m grateful to be building a business that I love to work for and that extends that opportunity to our employees. I’m extremely proud of our people and the level of service that we are able to provide to customers, many of whom are experiencing disruptive, stressful, or traumatic situations. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement Serving and supporting the local church, particularly through music ministry and leading worship. A current goal that’s important to you and why I’m hoping to grow our business and hire several new employees in the next year or two. I’ve experienced a lot of joy and freedom in my business, and want to help other people experience that in their work as well. It’s a lot more fun to grow together. Personal background and family information I was born in Northern Virginia, and my parents moved to Purcellville in 1996. I’m proud to be a Loudoun native! I currently live in Purcellville with my wife, three daughters, and our French Bulldog, Margot. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family I am an active musician, and a guitar gear nerd, collector, and trader. I enjoy having a fitness goal, especially in community with other people. I set a marathon PR in Philadelphia in 2024, which was an incredible experience. I’ve since dialed back my running in favor of CrossFit. Favorite thing about living/working in Loudoun I love the community here. I see people I know through work, church, and sports almost every time I go out. I’m also grateful to be surrounded by exemplary people and business owners who have encouraged me in my life and career, and to take the leap of faith in starting Summit Restoration One piece of advice you’d give your younger self God is with you, he’s already gone before you, and he’s inviting you to go with him. Our work combines strong visuals with thoughtful storytelling, whether we’re helping an established brand communicate differently or giving a growing business a visual identity. Now based in Loudoun, I’m excited to bring that perspective to the people, businesses, and places here.

“Elevator speech” about you and your company I recently transitioned from branch manager of Northwest Federal Credit Union’s Middleburg branch to a small business lender role. Throughout my career at Northwest, I’ve enjoyed building meaningful relationships and helping members achieve financial success. Today, I partner with business owners to provide financing solutions while supporting an organization that is deeply committed to community impact and service.

Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud Building Torch Pictures into a six-figure creative company almost entirely through repeat clients and referrals, while raising three kids. I set out to prove a small, intentional business could compete at the highest level without sacrificing the life I was building at home. Eleven years in, I can say I’ve achieved both. Neither has been easy, but I wouldn’t trade the chaos!

Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud I’m most proud of growing from a member service representative to branch manager in under six years, while earning my bachelor’s degree full time. It reflects my determination, faith, and the incredible support of mentors who believed in me and helped shape my journey.

Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement Supporting The Napkin Network as it grew from a casual idea into a prominent DMV nonprofit, shooting for the organization, nominating founder Lindsey Gill for an award she went on to win, and hosting drives through my studio that helped expand its reach into Alexandria. Now working to bring it to Loudoun. A current goal that’s important to you and why Growing Torch Pictures into a creative partner for Loudoun’s business community, and developing my first original documentary, driven by my own experience navigating motherhood, ambition, and a system that wasn’t built for both. Personal background and family information I was raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, in a family of entrepreneurs. I started my career as a news anchor in South Carolina, worked at the Sundance Film Festival, and later moved to New York, where I studied acting, worked in hospitality, and began freelancing in photography and video. I eventually moved to Washington, D.C. to work in international journalism and filmmaking. My husband and I are both business owners, and we now live in Loudoun County with our three children, ages 2, 4, and 6. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family Travel and people-watching, especially anywhere I can experience a different culture or way of life. Closer to home, I love hunting for antiques, thrifting, and finding unusual pieces to bring character into my home and wardrobe. Favorite thing about living/working in Loudoun Its beauty and culture first. Loudoun has such a strong sense of place, but there’s also an openness to what it can become. I love being part of that evolution as both a business owner and someone raising a young family here. One piece of advice you’d give your younger self Stop waiting until you feel ready. Trust your intuition and take the first step. You don’t have to see the whole path ahead; when something is right for you, doors you didn’t even know existed have a way of opening.

Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement I am most fulfilled serving through my church, using my talents in music to inspire, uplift, and connect others to God. Leading with purpose and creating meaningful moments of joy and encouragement is one of my most impactful contributions. A current goal that’s important to you and why A current goal of mine is to continue developing and supporting others through mentorship, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. I’m grateful for the mentors who invested in my growth throughout my career, and it’s important to me to pay that forward by helping others build confidence, expand their skills, and achieve their professional goals. Personal background and family information I’ve lived in Northern Virginia my entire life and graduated from Shenandoah University with a bachelor’s degree in music. My family, also rooted locally, instilled in me a strong value for community service and a deep love of music that continues to shape who I am today. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family I love to travel and immerse myself in new cultures — recent trips to Playa del Carmen, London, and Oxford fueled my sense of adventure — and I’m excited to explore Barcelona and Brussels next. We currently operate Loudoun NFL FLAG’s fall and spring seasons, summer and winter camps, and our Females in Flag program. Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud I am thrilled with the growth of our flag football program. We went from 300 players to over 1,300 players per season. Almost 300 of those are girls in our Females in Flag program which I started a few years ago to offer those females who don’t want to play with boys, the chance to play with their peers. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement Operating NVA Sports. Our league provides kids with the opportunity to be active safely while having fun. There is research to show that involvement in youth sports leads to improved social skills, academic achievement, enjoyment of physical activity, and lower rates of anxiety. A current goal that’s important to you and why I am very passionate about the growth of sports for females. I started our Females in Flag program back in 2021 and while its growth has been wonderful (27 in season 1 to 238 this Spring), I want our female participation to continue to increase and help the movement to make it a HS varsity sport. I graduated from Park View High in 2010, attended NVCC in Loudoun before transferring to GMU, which I commuted to from Loudoun, where I worked. I was a substitute and then a history teacher for RBMS. My wife and our three daughters live in Cascades. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family I really enjoy a good movie/book and then discussing it with others. Few things beat going to a movie theater and then grabbing a meal afterwards to discuss it. Another favorite hobby of mine is hiking. With Inova’s support, I help lead systemwide improvements in pediatric readiness, pediatric and trauma education, and implement evidence‑based practice changes to better care for our pediatric patients. Inova is also supporting my growth as a leader and educator as I advance to the next chapter of my career. Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud I’m most proud of leading the TEN‑4‑FACESp systemwide rollout, advancing pediatric readiness, and strengthening pediatric and trauma education across Inova. My work in evidence-based practice, teaching, and system improvements has elevated care for children and empowered nurses throughout our emergency departments. I am also so proud to have brought the pediatric nursing course (ENPC), offered through the Emergency Nurses Association, to Inova Loudoun. This course enables all emergency nurses to learn to care for pediatric patients safely and effectively. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement My most meaningful community work includes volunteering at child safety and head‑injury awareness events as well as collaborating with two national child abuse consortiums to strengthen education, advocacy, and early recognition of abuse through the TEN‑4‑FACESp screening tool. I also volunteer to teach our local and regional fire and rescue team members how to safely and effectively care for pediatric patients during Inova’s annual regional education event. A current goal that’s important to you and why I’m working to establish TEN‑4 Day with Inova and in Virginia by partnering with a group to secure proclamations from the Governor and Mayor and to make October 4 an official awareness day across Inova, promoting early recognition and prevention of child abuse. Personal background and family information I’m a mother of two amazing girls, plus a dog, two cats, and a bunny. I’ve been married for 19 years. My family is my foundation, and my girls are what refill my cup, keeping me motivated and grounded in everything I do. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family I enjoy hiking — both locally and in Utah (where my family lives) — as well as most outdoor activities and reading. Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud Honestly, one of my proudest accomplishments is simply still being here — eight years later — in a highly competitive industry. Building Elite from the ground up and sustaining it through years of growth, challenges, and an ever-changing health and wellness landscape is an accomplishment I am incredibly proud of. I was also honored to be named a 2025 Health & Wellness Business of the Year Finalist by the Loudoun Chamber and recognized by Loudoun Economic Development during Small Business Week. This year marks 10 years sober — a milestone that has profoundly shaped who I am, strengthened my resilience, and given me a much clearer perspective on what truly matters. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family I’ve learned that my interests are a pretty random mix — and I actually love that about myself. I genuinely enjoy lawn care and landscaping, true-crime documentaries, dreaming up creative content ideas, and speaking openly about my 10-year sobriety journey. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement As a PennPAC Team Lead, I spearheaded a strategic engagement to scale a nonprofit’s fee-for-service programs. My team developed a go-to-market strategy, business development framework, and client success playbook, enabling the organization to diversify revenue and ensure sustainable impact. A current goal that’s important to you and why In under a year with PennPAC, I’ve found a passion for health education and chronic disease management for the uninsured and underserved. I view care as a basic human right and aim to identify the awareness gaps preventing people from accessing existing local and national resources. Personal background and family information Since 1996, Loudoun County has been my home. Moving from the Philippines at age six, I grew up surrounded by a large extended family. Family is the model of how I build teams and relationships. It’s a core value further deepened by caring for my father since the height of his illness. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family I enjoy running and going to the gym. I’m usually an early bird, so you’ll see me at the gym, usually around 6 am (and yes, even on the weekends!). Most summers, you can see me running around my neighborhood, cycling along the W&OD trail, going on hikes, or immersing in many of our beautiful wineries. Favorite thing about living/working in Loudoun You feel like you’re at the epicenter of different worlds, whether that’s the urban realms of being proximal to our nation’s capital, or the tranquil landscape of Western Loudoun. I also enjoy perusing our various EatLoco farmers’ markets on the weekends. One piece of advice you’d give your younger self Sometimes the path you start to build may lead you to multiple backroads. Roads you may never have thought you would be traveling; just keep traveling.

I am able to help many families make plans covering what should happen if a catastrophe strikes, and I have been able to support my family with this business. My first year, I had 10 clients. Now, we have 30 signings per month and are still growing. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement Wills on Wheels and other pro bono work for the indigent, gravely ill, and elderly. Being a mentor for Law Camp and being able to help clients who cannot afford attorneys through my work at Legal Services of Northern Virginia. A current goal that’s important to you and why One of my current goals is to see if we can adopt the Eviction Diversion Program in Loudoun County this year. It would be helpful to have that and a rental assistance program for the county to cut down on eviction cases in court, which would prevent more families from facing homelessness. Personal background and family information I was born on Long Island, NY, and grew up in Chester, VA. My Mother was a Physician Assistant, and my father was a project manager at different companies. I went to Liberty University School of Law, and my Undergraduate degree was in International Relations: Politics and Policies. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family I enjoy watching movies and television and appreciate animation. I enjoy traveling and exploring new places. Drawing on my experience as a registered nurse, I am honored to lead efforts that improve safety and quality outcomes for patients that we have the privilege to serve. Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud One of my proudest professional accomplishments was helping Inova Loudoun Hospital earn a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade of “A” in 2025. Celebrating this achievement in person with our leadership team reinforced the impact of our commitment to advancing safer, higher-quality care for our patients. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement Serving as a deacon in my church’s young adult ministry alongside my husband - one highlight has been co-leading a team on a short-term overseas mission trip to support and encourage our missionaries abroad. In a world where information moves at lightning speed and multitasking is constant, I want to be intentional about giving my full attention to what’s in front of me. Personal background and family information As a first-generation immigrant, I was born in China, lived in Canada, and ultimately found my home in Northern Virginia. Today, I reside in Fairfax County with my husband and our one-year-old son. Becoming a mother has been one of the most rewarding and transformative experiences of my life. HONORARY MEMBER BRIAN BALIK Founder, Balik Outdoors Creator, Above Loudoun Age: 33

“Elevator speech” about you and your company As the Founder of Balik Outdoors, I have built a career around wildlife, photography and community. What started with local black bear tours grew into photo assignments and wildlife tracking across North America. Through Above Loudoun and other online communities, I used aerial photography and social media to celebrate the landscapes, businesses and people that make these places special. Over the past three years, I’ve run a social media marketing firm, helping businesses across the country connect with their communities and grow their online presence. Professional accomplishment of which you are most proud The community endeavor I’m most proud of is Above Loudoun. It was an appreciation of Loudoun County and its community: the people, the sunsets, the sunrises and all the businesses here. It grew to tens of thousands of followers and gave people a view of Loudoun they might otherwise miss. Most significant nonprofit work/community involvement Some of my most memorable charitable moments in Loudoun were rescuing people’s dogs. My team and I used drones, thermal scopes, night-vision cameras and wildlife-tracking knowledge to search for lost pets. Over two or three years, we found roughly 40 to 45 dogs, along with plenty of cats. A current goal that’s important to you and why The current goal for me right now is just to stay alive and be happy. I was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer and am undergoing treatment at Inova. Years ago, I might have answered this question with goals about starting businesses, meeting more people or getting more clients. Right now, my real main goal is just to be here on God’s earth and enjoy every single day. Personal background and family information I grew up here in Loudoun. My parents moved here to raise our family of three kids. My mom worked as a teaching assistant with Loudoun County Public Schools, and my dad worked for the federal government. I spent my childhood outside, showing people bugs and flipping through field guides, so I don’t think it’s a surprise to my family that I ended up doing so much around the outdoors and community. Favorite hobby or activity, other than work and family Woodworking. It’s one of the first hobbies I’ve had that I didn’t use to start a business or a page. My favorite piece is a lamp I made from hand-hewn wood from a 1700s Loudoun barn. It’s something I made myself, but it also has history to it from literally hundreds of years ago. Favorite thing about living/working in Loudoun My favorite thing about living in Loudoun County is actually being part of a community here. It’s knowing the people and businesses that have put years of their time and energy into building things people can experience here. To me, the best part of living in Loudoun is being part of all these different things and fully engaging yourself in everything it has to offer. One piece of advice you’d give your younger self Just enjoy every day. Don’t take for granted what your parents, family, teachers, doctors, nurses and everyone in the community do for you.
