egal Boats unveiled the all-new 34 SAV at Miami to a huge crowd, marking yet another milestone for the renowned Orlando, Florida boat builder.
The 35-foot Sports Activity Vessel now joins the 33, 38, 38 Surf, 43, and 50 in the emerging crossover lineup that blends cruising, fishing, entertaining, and overnight use within a single platform. It uses Regal’s popular OceanTrac2 hull design with its sterling track record for capable handing in big offshore conditions. The new model measures 35’3” (10.74 m) LOA with a 10’11” (3.33 m) beam and a 21-degree deadrise hull. Fuel capacity is 300 gallons, with 50 gallons of fresh water and a 26-gallon waste tank. Dry weight is listed at 15,200 lb. Bow Features The bow area is designed as a forward lounge with integrated storage and charging, with ample under-seat storage compartments for gear. Speakers, USB charging ports, and cup holders are positioned throughout while a filler cushion converts the bow seating into a full sun lounge. Standard bow equipment includes: • Four rod holder/cup holder combinations • Bow speakers • USB-C charging ports • Bow boarding step • 22 lb Delta anchor Helm and Hardtop Features The helm features dual 16” Garmin displays with digital switching, allowing control of navigation, onboard systems, and lighting from Regal’s remarkably capable and user-friendly centralized interface. Additional helm features include: • Triple multi-position captain seats with flip-up bolsters and adjustable armrests • Wireless phone charging at the helm and in the hardtop

The hardtop integrates six speakers, an LED lightbar, and a Garmin companion screen for system control from the cockpit refreshment area. Cockpit and Entertaining Features The cockpit layout, as with all SAV models, is built around flexibility for socializing and fishing. Dual Terrace Doors lower on both sides to expand the cockpit floorplan, improve water access, and create a massive social space for a 34-foot boat. Key cockpit features include: • Refreshment Island with refrigerator, grill, sink, trash storage, and cabinetry • Mezzanine seating with storage • Fold-away bench seat and face-to-face seating configuration • Drawer refrigerator and freshwater washdown • Aft cockpit speakers and 10” subwoofer Fishing-specific equipment includes rod holder/cup holder combinations, outriggers, a macerated fish box, and an integrated livewell. Transom and Water Access The transom incorporates features designed to accommodate fishing, swimming, watersports, and dockside social time. A low-to-the-water swim platform wraps around the outboards and includes a detachable ladder that stores within the Terrace Door. (August 10, 2026)— As Floridians look ahead to some of the year’s most enjoyable months on the water, the Orlando Boat Show offers boaters and boating-curious families an opportunity to explore what’s new for the season ahead. Presented by the Marine Industry Association of Central Florida (MIACF), the show returns to the Orange County Convention Center’s North Concourse Aug. 28-30 with Central Florida’s top boat dealers, more than 600 boats and 85+ boat lines. Boating is a year-round lifestyle in Florida, but fall brings a renewed invitation to get outdoors, reconnect and enjoy the state’s waterways. From family-friendly pontoons and sport boats to fishing favorites and luxury cruisers, the show allows visitors to compare a wide range of models, speak directly with local experts and find inspiration for their next adventure all under one roof. “The Orlando Boat Show brings the boating community together at an ideal time of year,” said Jeff Husby, owner of Regal & Nautique Orlando and president of the Marine Industry Association of Central Florida. “Visitors can explore an exceptional variety of boats, learn from knowledgeable local dealers and start imagining how they want to enjoy the water in the months ahead. 5 Ways to Prevent Seasickness on a Boat Seasickness is caused by conflicting signals between your eyes, inner ear, and body as your boat moves through the water. While some people are more prone to motion sickness than others, rough conditions can affect almost anyone. The good news? Learning how to prevent seasickness on a boat is easier than you might think. A few simple habits before and during your trip can help you enjoy more time on the water and less time feeling sick. How to Avoid Seasickness on a Boat If you’re wondering how to avoid seasickness on a boat, start with these tips: • Keep your eyes on the horizon. • Get plenty of fresh air by staying on deck. • Avoid heavy, spicy, or greasy meals before boating. • Stay cool and practice staying hydrated. • Consider over-the-counter medications or other motion sickness remedies. • Plan ahead before your boating trip. 1. Focus Your Eyes, Breathing and Mind Your vision plays a major role in motion sickness, so giving your brain a stable point of reference can help reduce symptoms. • Keep your eyes on the horizon whenever possible. • If you’re comfortable doing so, take the helm. Steering the boat helps your brain anticipate movement. • Avoid reading, scrolling on your phone, or using binoculars for long periods. • Breathe slowly and deeply to help settle your stomach and stay relaxed. Getting fresh air also makes a difference. Try staying on deck or opening a window on larger boats to improve airflow. Avoid hot, stuffy, or strong-smelling areas below deck.
Finally, stay positive. Worrying about getting seasick can make you more aware of every wave, increasing discomfort. 2. Avoid Common Triggers What you eat and drink can affect how you feel on the water. • Avoid heavy, greasy, acidic, or spicy foods before and during your trip. • Eat light foods such as crackers, toast, or plain bread. • Ginger tea, candy, or gum may work as a natural nausea remedy for some people and help settle your stomach. • Skip alcohol, which can worsen dehydration and motion sickness. • Keep staying hydrated by drinking water throughout the day. • Avoid smoking and strong odors, such as fuel fumes or cooking smells, which can trigger nausea. 3. Change Your Location Not every part of the boat moves the same. The center of the boat (amidships) usually experiences the least motion, while the bow and stern move the most. If possible: • Stay near the middle of the boat. • Remain on the main deck rather than higher areas where movement feels stronger. • Stay cool by finding shade and avoiding direct sun. • If you’re feeling sick, lie flat on your back to help your inner ear adjust. These small changes can lessen symptoms, including dizziness, nausea, and fatigue that often accompany seasickness. 4. Consider Medication If you’re especially prone to motion sickness, medication may help prevent symptoms before they start.
Common over-thecounter medications include Dramamine®, Bonine® and generic meclizine. Some work best when taken before boarding, so follow the directions on the package. Talk with your healthcare provider before using motion sickness medication, especially if you take other prescriptions. They may recommend a scopolamine patch, which is placed behind the ear before travel. Keep in mind that both patches and oral medications can cause drowsiness. Drug-free options, such as acupressure wristbands, may also help some boaters. 5. Plan Ahead Preparation is one of the best ways to learn how to stop seasickness on a boat before it starts. Before your trip: • Get plenty of sleep. • Dress for the weather so you don’t become overheated or too cold. • If using oral motion sickness medicine, take it before boarding according to the label directions. • Pack water and light snacks. Even if you do start feeling queasy, acting early often keeps symptoms from getting worse. With a little planning, you can spend more time enjoying your day on the water.

Captain’sCorner with Captain Taylor Cowieson On a Mission Fishing Charters LLC Inshore fishing charters Anna Maria Island fishing charters This summer has been a very warm summer with predictable weather and very little rainfall so far. We have been consistently catching fish on our fishing charters making for very happy guests. We have been focusing our efforts mostly on the inshore fishing in Tampa Bay and Sarasota Bay this time of year. Our guests that like to catch fish to take home for dinner have been very happy with mangrove snapper as these fish are in full spawn mode a n d seem to be
everywhere in Tampa Bay right now. The artificial reefs and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge have been great spots that consistently produce quality mangrove snapper in the summer time. We are also seeing the snapper on the grass flats and around the mangroves the last few weeks as they feed aggressively to spawn. We are in the “bait hatch” season of smaller pilchards and threadfin herring. It is best to use the smaller baits as this is what the fish are really focusing on eating. The smaller hatch bait in Tampa Bay is the perfect sized bait to use for the mangrove snapper because they have smaller mouths and can be stubborn to hook. The snook fishing has been very good on the days that yield good tides. We are catching them in the mangroves mixed in with the mangrove snapper and the occasional redfish. We are starting to see more redfish as we approach the end of the summer. There are still some tarpon lingering around the Sunshine Skyway Bridge and also in the passes. There are small sharks swimming the edges of the sandbars out near the passes that when hooked on rod and reel provide for great action especially for kids.
with Captain Tim Daugherty August/September Fishing Report: Inshore Fishing Charters in Naples and Marco Island August is here, and the summer fishing continues to deliver plenty of action throughout Naples and Marco Island. Warm water, an abundance of bait, and active inshore species make this a great month to book a fishing charter and experience Southwest Florida from the water. Early mornings have been a great time to get started. Snook remain one of our primary targets throughout August, with fish holding around mangrove shorelines, passes, beaches, docks, and other areas where bait is concentrated. These fish are aggressive, powerful, and always exciting to catch, making them a favorite for anglers joining us on a Naples fishing charter. Redfish are another species we’re looking for this month. The mangrove shorelines and backcountry waters surrounding Naples and Marco Island provide excellent habitat for reds, and August can bring

some great opportunities to find these hard-fighting fish. Working areas with good tidal movement and plenty of bait can lead to some memorable catches. Mangrove snapper are also keeping rods bent. These fish can provide fast action and are a great target for families and anglers who simply want to catch fish and enjoy their time on the water. Sea trout, jack crevalle, ladyfish, and other inshore species can also show up throughout a fishing charter, so you never know exactly what may take the bait next. Tarpon are still part of the August fishing picture as well. While the major spring and early summer migration has passed, resident tarpon can still be found throughout Southwest Florida. Depending on the conditions, we may encounter them around passes, bays, deeper channels, and areas holding good concentrations of bait. One of the keys to August fishing is taking advantage of the morning hours. Summer afternoons can bring heat

West Central Florida The Spanish mackerel are starting to show up along the beaches of Anna Maria Island as we get closer to the end of the summer and they will become a good target for great light tackle action. The past week brought a great mix of fishing, with conditions changing throughout the week but plenty of opportunities to put some quality fish in the boat. We had several days when the fish were feeding aggressively, with lots of Bonitas and a few King Mackerel mixed in, while other days required a little more searching and changing up our approach.

The Bonita bite continues to build, and on the right days we’ve had some excellent action with multiple hookups and plenty of hard-fighting fish. A few more King Mackerel have also started showing up, which is an encouraging sign as we move toward fall. We’ve also seen schools of Jack Crevalle patrolling the reef, providing another exciting target for anglers looking for a strong fight. Mahi-Mahi have remained scattered, with a few fish showing up when the current was stronger. We’ve also seen the occasional Wahoo and some nice Barracudas and Rainbow Runners mixed into the trolling action. The Blackfin Tuna bite has slowed considerably, but that’s a fairly typical seasonal pattern as we move out of the heart of summer. We expect to see them make another push as conditions change later in the season. We’ve also been catching plenty of Blue Runners while trolling, and these have been especially valuable as live bait. When we get a good supply of runners, we can put them to work on the deeper wrecks or slow troll them in areas where we’re looking for bigger fish. This has produced some exciting opportunities for anglers looking to step up the size of their catch. One of the biggest highlights of the week was a large Bull Shark that put our anglers through an incredible battle. While we had the shark boatside, we noticed a couple of
Cobia hanging around the fish. We quickly pitched baits to them and were fortunate enough to hook and land the Cobia as well. Having a Bull Shark and Cobia around the boat at the same time made for a pretty exciting few minutes! Shark fishing has slowed somewhat from the peak of summer, but we’re still finding some quality fish, including another nice shark caught today. With trophy Sharks typically remaining active for several more months, there should continue to be plenty of opportunities for anglers looking for a serious fight. Snapper fishing has remained one of the most dependable options. Yellowtail Snapper, Blackfin Snapper, and deeperwater Snapper have all been producing well. Fresh dead bait has been especially effective, and chumming has brought Snapper up behind the boat where we’ve been able to target them with both live and dead baits. For anglers looking to bring home fresh fish for dinner, the bottom fishing continues to be a great option. Sargassum grass has been scattered throughout the fishing grounds, making trolling more challenging on some days, but we’ve also had periods where we found clean water and the fish were feeding very well. Strong north current has been a consistent feature recently, although it finally began to ease over the last couple of days. Light east winds have kept conditions relatively comfortable on most trips. Looking ahead, we’re still waiting for the Bonita run to really kick into high gear. We’ve seen some good numbers already, but the big schools and nonstop multiple-hookup action they’re known for should hopefully arrive soon. We also expect to see more King Mackerel and Jack Crevalle around the reef, while Mahi-Mahi should continue to provide opportunities. Snapper fishing should remain strong, and the chance
to battle a trophy Shark will continue through the coming months. Late summer and early fall can be a fantastic time to fish South Florida. Whether you’re looking for fresh Snapper and other fish for the dinner table, fast action with Bonitas and King Mackerel, or a chance to battle something big, we’ll keep adapting to the conditions and doing everything we can to make your day on the water a memorable one. Fall is also typically a quieter time here business-wise, so we have more availability than we do during the peak summer months. UNITED STATES COAST GUARD FLOTILLA 7-16 OFFERS SAFE BOATING CLASSES IN GULFPORT, FL, MEETS THE THIRD WEDNESDAY OF EACH MONTH. These classes qualify the attendee for the FWC Safe Boating Card. This card is required for most people born after January 1, 1988 to legally operate a power boat with greater than 10hp motor in Florida. The one-day class includes instruction on safety equipment, boat handling, rules of the road, navigation aids, communications, trailering, legal requirements and others. Power and sailboats are covered, as well as personal watercraft. Of course, besides making a boater in compliance, the main goal of the class is to create a safer boater. But the vessel owner then knows of any deficiencies to correct before having an accident or being sanctioned by the Coast Guard. A VESSEL SAFETY CHECK - STUART - Despite numerous COVID-19 restrictions, more and more boaters are taking to the water to alleviate at-home boredom while taking advantage of the openair benefits and more pandemic-free aspects of recreational boating. But if you haven’t been out boating in a while, are your vessel’s lights operating properly? Do you have a sufficient number of life jackets for the number of passengers aboard? Is your engine’s ventilation system up to par? To get you started on a new year boating adventure, now may be a perfect time to consider getting a 2025 Vessel Safety Check (VSC) offered by certified VSC examiners from the St. Lucie River Power Squadron, also known as America’s Boating Club of Martin County. These trained VSC examiners from the local squadron will point out safety features such as minimum requirements required by the U.S. Coast Guard, examine fundamental mechanical aspects of your vessel, and answer questions how you can have more fun safely on the water.
