home, i'm darling Remarkable Theatre returns to the Arrowtown Athenaeum Hall with the play Home, I’m Darling, running over seven performances from 11-19 September. Between running a local winery and the school run to Arrowtown Primary, Sophie TimmermanDelves is preparing to take to the stage as Fran in this award-winning dark comedy. Set in the home of Judy and Johnny, the stage is transformed into a picture-perfect 1950s household. Judy is determined to be the perfect housewife but beneath the vintage dresses, polished smiles and retro charm lies a clever and entertaining exploration of whether the good old days were ever quite as perfect as they seemed. Sophie’s character, Fran, is Judy's best friend and a successful stylist. While Fran loves the aesthetics of the 1950s, she is yet to embrace its domestic ideals. Sophie was drawn to the play's sharp writing and loves comedic roles. The play explores modern relationships, ambition and the gender divide. For more than 15 years, Remarkable Theatre has brought productions to Arrowtown, supported by enthusiastic local audiences and businesses. With stunning visuals, a talented local cast and a brilliantly witty script, Sophie says Home, I’m Darling is a play you won’t want to miss. arrowtown village association news “ridgeburn” – morven ferry road
On 28th July Queenstown Smart Growth Initiative hosted an information evening on the significant Ridgeburn “fast track” proposal at Morven Ferry Road. Over 200 residents attended to hear about the significant work and funding required by local volunteers to mount an opposition to this development. 1,250 homes are proposed on land that would be equivalent in size to Arrowtown itself, with no connection to local infrastructure. This would have a significant negative impact on the village and the district. This is an important community issue, please make sure you are informed and engaged. ramshaw lane car park
The AVA have been consulted by QLDC on a proposed extension and improvement to the Ramshaw Lane Car Park. This would see more formalised parking and a reclamation of parts of the “overflow” area as reserve land with mixed native and exotic planting. Additional community groups will be consulted as plans evolve, and a consensus is reached. Work continues in this area to remove and replace unviable trees. AGM – Thursday October 22nd

arrowtown school report Winter sports are in full swing for our kids, with skiing, snowboarding and junior ice skating providing plenty of fun. From 5–7 August, almost 60 Year 7 and 8 students headed to Coronet Peak for the NZSki Snow Sports programme. With fresh snow, near-perfect weather and fantastic instructors, students enjoyed three days of challenging themselves and fine-tuning their skiing and snowboarding skills. Junior ice skating is also underway, which is great to see local children making the most of the many winter sports opportunities our region has to offer.
