swim club starts early With Alpine Aqualand closed for maintenance, QLDC opened Arrowtown Pool for the summer yesterday, two weeks earlier than usual. Arrowtown Swim Club are also getting underway this week and the season will start with a registration night including sausage sizzle and fun swim on Friday 23 November from 5.30 pm. arrowtown’s stars of christmas This year’s Shotover Jet Christmas show will be a family affair as an Arrowtown mother-daughter duo take lead roles in Queenstown’s Christmas Stars. But there’s a twist: 12-year-old Bethany Graf will play the main role of Georgie while singer and professional facepainter Charlotte Graf will be ageing up by several decades to play her grandmother. Both are old hands at the Christmas show – Charlotte played Mrs Claus in last year’s show and Bethany has appeared in four or five of the panto-style productions. In this year’s show Georgie is upset that her family and friends are too busy to decorate the Christmas Tree with her on Christmas Eve. Her teddy bear Angus comes to life to show her the reason everyone is so busy is they are helping make Christmas special for others, and that these volunteers are the real stars of Christmas. Directed by Lisa Clough and Margaret O’Hanlon and with a cast of world-famous-in-Queenstown performers and some very talented kids – and a giant teddy bear – this touching, fast-paced show has something for the whole family. The production will once again feature the Men's Ballet and toe-tapping song and dance performances guaranteed to get you in the mood for the Christmas season. Shotover Jet Queenstown’s Christmas Stars will have two performances at the Queenstown Events Centre, at 1 pm and 5 pm on Sunday 9 December. water supply upgrade begins Residents frustrated by summer water restrictions are welcoming the start of QLDC’s promised upgrade to the water supply network. QLDC General Manager Property and Infrastructure Peter Hansby says there will be footpath diversions in Bush Creek Recreation Reserve while new bores are sunk. ‘The work will take up to two weeks and involve using a drilling rig and other machinery to install new water production bores to increase pumping capacity.’ Stage two of the upgrade will see the construction of a new reservoir at the end of Bush Creek Road. Increased water storage capacity will mean that we won’t get a repeat of the situation of last summer where water levels in the reservoir fell dangerously low because the bores couldn’t pump fast enough to refill it. The new bores are expected to be commissioned in 2019 and construction of the new reservoir is planned to start in 2020.

your flop-free recipe protein pancakes with berry compote pancake mixture 1 cup rolled oats 3 eggs 3 tsp baking powder pinch cinnamon 1–2 scoops protein powder of choice 2 Tbsp LSA mix compote ½ cup maple syrup 1 cup frozen mixed berries juice of half a lemon some lemon zest 1 tsp vanilla paste to serve Greek yoghurt Mix all the pancake ingredients in a blender. Heat a non-stick pan, spray with a little oil and cook a quarter of a cup of the pancake mixture at a time. To make the compote, combine ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes until the berries have softened and the syrup has reduced. To serve, top your pancakes with the compote and add a dollop of Greek yogurt on top. 10
