Los Fresnos CISDâs CTE Department continues to educate young kids on the different career opportunities available do the teacher for DECA, Arminda Quiroz responded, âThis organization helps teach our students new skills that will help them succeed in business and mold them into mature and responsible adults through activities that also incorporate community service.â She explained their visit at the Dora Romero Elementary and working with the kids there, âOur students on(sic) CTE tour shared various activities such as tips for creating a resume, a sample balance sheet for managing expenses and deposits, and a fun activity that challenged their knowledge about the different careers and what each entails.â She says that the game mirrored something like Jeopardy, and says, â(it) really got the students involved and excited." In an interview with Karina Lucio, the Principle at Dora Romero Elementary, she told Los Fresnos News that during Covid, restrictions didnât allow the elementary school to participate in this experience. Mrs. Lucio says they were very excited when the opportunity finally arose, âIt was a huge

Other career types that they shared as part of the âCTE on Tourâ, included: The students in the Health Science PCT (Patient Care and Technician)course, the SeaPerch Robotics team with their robot, the Agriculture group bringing with them small livestock, and the Forensic Science team, where they examined shoe prints, blood splatter, and fingerprints, along with DECA. When asked what DECA is, and what they
opportunity to provide an educational experience that was able to highlight different career pathways...â She explains that âOur 2nd through 3rd Grade kiddos really, really enjoyed this experience.â The kids spent twenty minutes in different groups learning about the different careers, getting hands-on experience throughout each station. The CTE Director at LFCISD, Rolando Guerra shared that something that touched him, was seeing ALL the students involved. Having something for all different levels including those who might have special needs were still included and had a blast Mr. Guerra says âThese are careers that they can go into⌠There are no limitsâŚâ He continued by sharing how it stood out to him what a wonderful staff Dora Romero Elementary had, and how they give all their students an equal opportunity to learn and grow. âEvery student can accomplish what they want, and thatâs something I really like on that campus and with their staffâ
