Little Shop of Horrors Program

Page 1

Key Theater’s spring musical is the sci-fi smash hit Little Shop of Horrors, a cult classic that blends 1960s rock and roll with a horticultural twist. The story follows Seymour, a down-on-his-luck florist who discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for more than sunshine and water. As the plant grows, so does Seymour’s fame, but at what cost?

Bringing this strange and wonderful world to life has been an incredible journey. I am immensely proud of every student involved in this production. Theater is always a collective act of imagination, collaboration, and courage, and this cast and crew have embraced that spirit from the very first rehearsal. Their creativity, dedication, and generosity toward one another have made this process a joy to witness. I dedicate this show to the entire company, with a special tribute to our seniors, some of whom I have had the privilege of teaching since Middle School.

The Class of 2026 has always possessed a unique magic. I met many of you as sixth graders during my very first year at Key, and together we soon found ourselves navigating the surreal storyline of 2020. At times, it felt less like real life and more like a darkly comic, sci-fi musical that none of us had auditioned for. Yet even then, you responded with resilience, humor, and empathy rather than despair. Watching you grow into young adults who lead with grit, creativity, and compassion, even when the script gets strange, has been one of the great privileges of my time at Key.

The students who joined this class along the way share that same spirit, and each of you has helped shape the community that brought this production to life. Whether through performance, music, design, technical mastery, or the countless quiet acts of teamwork that make theater possible, every member of this company has left their mark on this stage.

I want to offer special recognition to our seniors: Aoife, Gisele, Leilah, Ben, Journey, Caleb, Haynes, Kyle, Hugo, Aurelia, Jane, and Connor. Your artistry, leadership, and dedication have helped define Key Theater in recent years. From powerful performances to beautiful design work to steady leadership behind the scenes, your contributions have strengthened this program and inspired the students who follow you.

Thank you for making this stage your creative home. It has been an honor to work alongside you, and we will miss you greatly.

Ms. DW
