KENTUCKY PERFORMING ARTS 2024/2025
Through every note, every performance.
The Arts connect us through joy and through awe, bridging cultures and generations.
From intimate theaters to the grandest stages, the arts bring us together, reminding us that we’re never truly alone.
When we experience the arts, we experience each other.

OUR MISSION
To connect and inspire through the arts.
OUR VISION
The arts awaken the shared humanity, empathy, and limitless creativity in everyone.
OUR VALUES
KPA is WELCOMING
We create experiences and spaces where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
KPA is INCLUSIVE
We believe the arts belong to everyone.
KPA is INNOVATIVE
We believe in bold ideas and strong artistic voices to lead the way.
KPA is CONNECTED
We exist to bring community together.
KPA is COLLABORATIVE
We value relationships and partnerships that help us all succeed.

In our 2024/2025 Season, Kentucky Performing Arts deepened its role as a cultural, economic, and educational catalyst for the Commonwealth. As we reflect on our progress, one theme stands at the heart of every achievement: connection. Whether through the shared experience of live performance, the partnerships that strengthen our communities, or the educational programs that empower Kentucky’s young people, connection continues to define who we are and the impact we create.
Our stages welcomed audiences from every Kentucky county and every state in the US, supporting a vibrant creative economy that extends far beyond our venues. Every performance fuels local businesses, sustains jobs, and contributes to the economic vitality of our downtown, our city, and the Commonwealth. The result is an arts ecosystem that not only enriches cultural life but also serves as a key driver of economic growth for Kentucky.
Our educational mission continues to be one of our most powerful investments in the future. Through robust programming that spans early childhood through college pathways, Kentucky Performing Arts connected thousands of students with opportunities to learn, create, and lead. These programs nurture essential skills—creativity, communication, confidence—that prepare young people not only for artistic pursuits but for success in every area of life.
Thank you for being part of this work. Together, we are building a more inspired, more connected Kentucky.

Kim Baker KPA President and CEO

The curtain rose on a new tradition in arts education as Kentucky Performing Arts (KPA), in partnership with the Louisville Theatrical Association, held the inaugural KPA Bradley Awards on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at The Kentucky Center.
The KPA Bradley Awards is an official Regional Awards Program of The National High School Musical Theatre Awards® (NHSMTA®), otherwise known as The Jimmy Awards®. With the goal of celebrating young artists and elevating the importance of theatre arts education, The KPA Bradley Awards partners with high schools across Kentucky and Southern Indiana to adjudicate a musical production at each participating school, culminating in an awards ceremony in Louisville, KY where awards in various categories are provided to winning students, educators, and ensembles.
As the winners across all categories were officially announced, two Kentucky students made history as the region’s first Jimmy Awards® national finalists. The students named Best Actor in a Leading Role, Carson Chesnut (McCracken County High School, Paducah, KY), and Best Actress in a Leading Role, Kennedy Julian (Youth Performing Arts School, Louisville, KY), traveled to New York City to represent the region at the 2025 Jimmy Awards®, an all-expenses-paid experience that included 10 days of private coaching, master classes, and rehearsals with Broadway professionals. Their journey came full circle at a live national awards ceremony held at the Minskoff Theatre.

The KPA Bradley Awards are named in honor of Bradley Broecker, whose central role in bringing touring Broadway shows to Kentuckiana has made immeasurable impact on the region’s vibrancy.
Bradley L. Broecker was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from Eastern High School and received his B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1960. An amateur magician in his early years, he also played tuba and double bass in his schools’ bands and orchestras.
He spent the next ten years working for his family-owned Southern Star Meat Packing. He joined Brown & Williamson Tobacco in 1970 as a Brand Manager in B&W’s marketing department. He developed national programs which included the Kool Jazz Festivals, Kool Hot Air Balloon Tour and the Viceroy Indy Car.
While working for B&W he joined the board of the Louisville Theatrical Association, presenter of touring Broadway shows in Louisville. He became president of the Board in 1979 and held that position until 2024, when he was appointed Chairman Emeritus. In 1984 he left B&W and created the Broadway Series Management Group which expanded his touring Broadway interests to Cincinnati, Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis, as well as six markets in Florida. He partnered with a New York/Houston based theatrical company to establish the largest Broadway presentation network in the country, now known as Broadway Across America.
Broecker retired from the Broadway Series Management Group in 2005. In 2006 the Board of the Louisville Orchestra asked him to manage the Orchestra. He continued in this pro-bono role for three years.
Broecker served as a Tony-voting member of the Broadway League and on its’ Board of Governors. He is a recipient of the Broadway League’s “Outstanding Achievement in Presenter Management” award. In 2009, the Louisville Fund for the Arts presented him with the Leader’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. He currently serves on the Boards of the Heuser Hearing Institute and Trees Louisville. He married Carla Sue Broecker in 1961. He has two daughters, Leslie K. Broecker and the late Amy Kessler and two grandchildren, Christopher and Caroline Kessler.
Kentucky Performing Arts is committed to providing access to live entertainment for everyone, offering a variety of Accessible Services and ticket access programs.
We ensure that our facilities and programming are accessible to everyone by providing assistive listening devices, audio description, captioning, sign language interpreters, and large print programs for events and activities at the Kentucky Center, Brown Theatre, and Old Forester’s Paristown Hall.

In the 2024/2025 season, Kentucky Performing Arts (KPA) launched a new program to help artists bring their vision and voices to our stages. KPA Spaces for All offers community-based artists and organizations an opportunity to obtain rental assistance in its family of venues: The Kentucky Center, the Brown Theatre, and Old Forester’s Paristown Hall. Through this initiative, KPA is helping to ensure local organizations can successfully afford KPA venues at reduced rental rates.
In its initial year, KPA Spaces for All provided assistance for projects featuring a youth orchestra, youth percussionists, a barbershop harmony group, an author presenting a book talk and signing, a youth hip hop group performing for school students, a play inspired by an interview with a teacher who survived the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018, and two dance groups.
