Shirley Ann Chapman, born Shirley Ann Hudson, was born on April 2, 1956, in Hamilton, Georgia, to the late Nellie and Willie Andrews. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Daniel Lee Chapman, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and raised their beautiful family, and her beloved sibling, Renee Copeland.

Shirley received her education through the Atlanta Public School System and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. She began her professional career with the Secretary of State, where her compassion for others was evident, and later continued her work with the Georgia Department of Labor as a data analyst. After years of dedicated service, she retired in June 2014.

A woman of deep faith, Shirley joined Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Edward B. Childs. She was a faithful and active member, serving on the Mother’s Board and regularly attending Sunday School and Bible Study. Her love for people, especially children, was evident in all she did. Shirley had a heart of gold and gave selflessly of her time and resources. Whether she was staying after service to talk to others, serving on the church’s culinary art committee, feeding the homeless, or opening her home as a haven for children in need, she embodied kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer words of encouragement, or support someone both financially and spiritually.

Family was the center of Shirley’s life. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and poured her heart into nurturing and uplifting them.

Shirley peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her three devoted children: Daniel Chapman Jr. (April), Trenae Chapman Newby (Christopher Sr.), and Karla Chapman, all of Atlanta, Georgia. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Christopher Jr., Daniel III, Tyler, Lauren, London, Hudson, and Legend, her great grandchildren Apollo and Dakota. She is also survived by five siblings: Lisa Carter (Winston Sr.), Michael Andrews (Nina), Terry Andrews (Nichelle), Sheila Carey (Johnnie), and Deborah Andrews, along with a host of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and dear friends in Atlanta and Hamilton, Georgia.

Shirley’s legacy of love, faith, and service will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
