Life Reflections
Redia Orr, affectionately known as “Pat” was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 26, 1949 to the late Rev. John and Vivian Booker as the first of three children.
She transitioned on December 20, 2025, at 12:44 A.M., in the arms of her sister, Gail.
Pat was a very strong-willed woman, who was a leader, organizer, motivator and teacher. She graduated from C.L. Harper High School in May of 1967 and matriculated to Morris Brown College. While attending Harper High, she was a faithful member of the marching band. Mrs. Orr graduated from Morris Brown College in 1972 with a Bachelors of Science Degree. She later continued her education at Clark Atlanta University where she received her masters degree in education in 1974.
She began her teaching career in the Dekalb County School System as an elementary school teacher. She later became a gifted teacher. Redia was an outstanding teacher receiving many awards but her greatest honor was being elected by her peers as Teacher of the Year in 2002.
Pat met the love of her life, Larry Orr in 1969. They were married in 1973. Together, they shared 55 years together and 52 years of marriage.
Mrs. Orr worked diligently in the Church at Cobb Bethel. She was a trustee program organizer and a cove for special events. Pat worked with the Lay Organization AME Church as the local church president and later became the president of the West District Lay Organization. She traveled throughout the AME Church to the Lay Biennial General Conferences, District Conferences and state meetings.
Pat had a great love for family. She and her husband, Larry, would organize the reunions for the Orr family. They would make sure food and activities were done for the family. Pat would along with her uncle Wayne, organize the George McLanin Family Reunions. She made sure all the food and activities were on point.
Redia was a sister, aunt, cousin, stepmother, Godmother and a good friend to many people. She had a special love for everybody. We will miss the beautiful smile, lovely laughter and the big hugs she would give to all.
Redia leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Mr. Larry Orr; sisters, Ms. Fredia L. Booker; Mrs. Gail B. (Marvin) Traylor; niece, Ms. Denise Barbour; stepdaughter, Ms. Sonia Orr; stepson, Mr. Eric Orr; brothers-in-law, Mr. Henton (Mattie) Orr; Mr. Ted (Sharon) Orr and Mr. Dan Orr; and a host of other relatives and friends.

God’s Garden
God looked around his garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain. He knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone… For part of us went with you the day God called you home.
