Cordie Weems Life Celebration Program

Page 1

Cordie Weems was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Eddie Mae Billingslea. She was educated in the Atlanta Public Schools, attending English Avenue Elementary School and S. H. Archer High School, from which she proudly graduated in 1960.

After high school, Cordie entered the workforce, applying her many talents until she chose a career at the National Data Corporation, where she worked until her retirement. Although she was officially retired, she still found ways to serve and support other businesses, like the World Congress Center.

Cordie became a member of Woodward Baptist Church at a young age, where remained a faithful and devoted member for over 70 years. She sang in the church choir and served on the Mother Board.

In 1970, God blessed her with the precious gift of her daughter, and in 1978, she married Clifford Weems.

Cordie celebrated life to the fullest, living with a spirit of adventure and curiosity. A world traveler, she was known for her warmth and openness, making friends wherever she went. She was an active member of several organizations, including the High Hatters, East Lake YMCA (AOA), ROSA, and Senior 2 Senior Ministry, among others. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing cards, BINGO, walking, and water aerobics.

A dear friend to many, Cordie’s presence lit up every room she entered. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy.

Cordie was preceded in death by her mother, Eddie Mae Billingslea; her husband, Clifford Weems; and her siblings: Annette Jackson, Francine Bell, Eddie Lee Billingslea (Venice), Arthur Billingslea, William Billingslea, Sammie Billingslea, and Calvin Billingslea.

She is survived by her daughter, LaShonnette Thomas (Bradley, Jr.); her Alfred Billingslea (Willie Mae, deceased); three grandsons: Kelvin Thomas, Bradley Thomas III, and Brandon Thomas; five great-grandchildren: Keyvontae Thomas, Zarria Thomas, Zamaya Thomas, Zaylan Thomas, and Kaori Thomas; one great-greatgrandchild, Armani Parham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Her

She was the quiet light in every room. Not loud but study as the rising dawn.

In her hands, the world felt softer. In her presence, no one stood alone.

A mother first, with boundless care, the care that never asks for praise. She stitched her love in daily moments, in simple acts and countless ways.

A grandmother with gentle wisdom. Stories, woven through her smile.

Her laughter echoed in memory.

A warmth that lingers all the while.

A friend so true, so deeply kind.

The one who stayed when times were hard.

Who gave her heart without condition. And held the pieces when scarred.

Though she has gone beyond our sight.

Her love remains; it does not fade. It lives in us; in all she gave.

In every life she gently shaped.

So, we will carry her forward now in kindness, grace and all we do.

For every good she placed in this world, still blooms because of her in you!
