Ms. Carolyn Davis Odom, most affectionately known as “Cal”, was born on December 13, 1959 in Atlanta (Dixie Hill Community), GA to the late Rev. Stoy David And Theresa Mae Davis. She attended Frederick Douglas High School, graduating with the Class of ‘78. She later dedicated 30 years of service to the Atlanta Public School System before retiring. Never the one to sit still, she soon returned to work at Home Depot where she remained employed until November.

Cal was a woman who went after life, a true go-getter. She didn't just dream, she moved. She loved to travel and experience all the world had to offer. She lived fully, boldly and without hesitation leaving an unforgettable mark everywhere she went.

She was naturally photogenic, and posing for the camera was one of her favorite things to do. At one point, she even ventured into modeling and appeared in a couple of commercials.

Cal was the life of every party. The kind of woman you felt before you even saw her– the loud laughter, the vibrant energy, the radiant light. One of a kind in every sense, she touched countless lives with her warmth, her smile, and vivacious spirit.

Though she may no longer be here in the way we wish, her love will continue to live on in every story told, every laugh shared, every Falcon’s game touchdown, and every two-step line dance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Stoy David and Theresa Mae Davis and her sister, Jonetta Parker.

She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Shwanna Carr and Carlo Denton; two sisters, Linda Veasey and Shollena Gray; one brother, Stephen David; two aunts, Gloria Lovejoy and Lillie Mosley (Bone); six grandchildren, Tre’nashia Carr, Ty’Celius Kelley, Zy’Terrie Kelley, Zaveon Kelley, Avaughna Kelley and Al’Layah Ussery; 8 great-grandchildren; a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
