Badenoch told guests how the UK had stood beside Israel since its founding. “Our relationship is built on decades of cooperation and steeped in historical ties,” she said. “The foundation of modern Israel was the realisation of a dream and the beginning of a new future of the Jewish people and today Israel is shaping the world’s future.” Badenoch visited Israel in March to help drive forward an ambitious new UK-Israel degree trade agreement. “It was my first visit to Israel and Jerusalem and one of the most profound experiences of my life,” she recalled. “The strong business links between the UK and Israel are here to stay.” Badenoch said a highlight of the trip was visiting the offices of Teva, the Israeli pharmaceutical business that makes one in five of the generic drugs supplied by the NHS.

Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Kemi Badenoch, vowed to ban public bodies from pursuing boycott, divestment and sanctions activities (BDS) as 1,000 guests celebrated a gala ‘Israel 75’ event at The Outernet in central London on Tuesday night. Badenoch also claimed Brexit will make the UK-Israel trading stronger in a positive keynote address. Government Ministers and Members of Parliament joined Ambassadors of the UAE, Bahrain and Morocco to the UK marking Israel’s landmark birthday. Israel’s Ambassador to the UK, Tzipi Hotovely hosted the event attended by former Prime Minister Theresa May among high profile politicians alongside Israeli business heads and community leaders including Board of Deputies President Marie van der Zyl, CST’s Mark Gardener and Scott Saunders of March of the Living.
