Police and firefighters investigate Simply Foot Spa after receiving a call about an odor of gas. Officials said they found an estimated $250,000 worth of synthetic marijuana.

Responding to a report of a possible gas leak at a foot spa on Hillside Avenue in Williston Park last Wednesday, county and village ďŹ rst responders discovered more than 20 pounds of loose synthetic marijuana and 5,300 bags of synthetic marijuana, according to the Nassau County Major Case Bureau. Sunita Shah, 57, and Rajesh Shah, 62, a husband and wife from Albertson who operated Simply Foot Spa at 120 Hillside Ave., were both charged with criminal possession precursor of a controlled

substance, second-degree reckless endangerment and illegal use of nitrous oxide. They were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead last Thursday, according to Nassau County police. The street value of the synthetic marijuana was estimated at a quarter of a million dollars. “We smelled gas from about noon to 2 p.m. and it didn’t go away,â€? said Cheryl Water of Charles Water Karate and Fitness. “They went into the store and had hazmat oďŹƒcers look around.â€? this horriďŹ c crime brings them some comfort.â€? Yanez and Estrada started ďŹ st-ďŹ ghting near the Laundry Palace on Clinton Avenue, in a nearby neighborhood, around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 18, 2016. Yanez took a hammer from his white Ford pickup and struck Estrada’s arm, according to the district attorney. “This war isn’t over, you

started this war and I’m going to ďŹ nish it,â€? Yanez said during the ďŹ ght, according to a news release from the district attorney’s oďŹƒce. Prosecutors said that Yanez returned to the park around 11 p.m. and beat Estrada’s head with an unknown blunt object while he slept bleeding on the ground. Continued on Page 76
