Plans for retailer submitted to town BY R OB E RT PELAEZ A new department store could soon fill a vacant storefront in the Lake Success Shopping Center, according to plans submitted to the Town of North Hempstead. Plans to have a Target occupy two-thirds of the store that was formerly occupied by a Sears were submitted to the town and were initially scheduled to go before the Board of Zoning Appeals on Nov. 13, according to Newsday. That hearing was rescheduled for Wednesday. According to the plans submitted by the shopping center’s landlord, Lake Success Shopping Center LLC, the Target would include groceries, retail, a Starbucks and a CVS Pharmacy, the layout of most stores in Nassau County. Town spokeswoman Rebecca Cheng said that as of Tuesday, the landlord had applied for a conditional use permit for the grocery component and for a Starbucks inside the store. Continued on Page 44

The senator then listed what tasks were to come for the public servants, and cited “old” infrastructure needing to be rebuilt, and the “beautiful” environment and the Long Island Sound as good aspects in the North Hempstead area that need constant work. Schumer also mentioned building affordable housing and retaining young people while maintaining “a degree of fiscal responsibility.” Continued on Page 45
