Williston Park hit by holiday burglary spree Police report progress in investigation BY TOM M CC A RT HY Scores of residents met at Village Hall in Williston Park on Saturday to discuss a string of burglaries that occurred over Memorial Day weekend — the first so far this year. Hector Bourren, deputy commanding officer of the Nassau County Police Department’s 3rd Precinct in Williston Park, said that over the holiday weekend there were two burglaries on Cushing Avenue, one on Stratford Avenue and an attempted break-in on Princeton Street. Among the items stolen were jewelry, electronics and an iPad.
Bourren along with Commanding Officer Robert Musetich fielded questions about the ongoing investigation at the meeting. Musetich and Bourren said they had some leads and have identified people of interest and gathered evidence but could not reveal details. The two officers said they believe the same person committed all four crimes. The officers said these were the first burglaries in the village in 2019. “We don’t rush out to put information out there,” Bourren said. Continued on Page 66

Old Westbury’s vote had no write-ins, unlike the election held four years ago that landed Baker a seat on the board. Baker and Trustees Marina Chimerine and Leslie Fastenberg were all elected as write-in candidates that year.
Fastenberg did not run for re-election this year, citing tension with fellow board members. Brown will be filling her seat. Brown is a partner at Carle Place-based Leeds Brown Law.
