Port joins plan to promote biz districts on L.I. One of 4 districts in Nassau picked for effort by Discover Long Island BY R OB E RT PE L A E Z Members of the Port Washington community and local officials gathered at the North Hempstead Town Dock to announce the newest addition to a program aimed at promoting downtown business districts on Long Island. Port Washington’s downtown was named as the eighth business district to be featured in Discover Long Island’s “Downtown Deals” initiative. Included in some of the Port Washington downtown deals are two-for-one sessions to the Port Salt Cave, 15 percent off select rooms at the Fathoms Hotel & Marina, a complimentary self-guided history tour at the Sands Point Preserve, $5 off show tickets at the Landmark on Main Street, and more.
