Villages prepare to go to the polls New trustee candidates in Port North, Flower Hill BY R O S E W E L D ON With the exception of one race in Port Washington North, the two mayor seats and eight trustee seats at stake in village elections across the Port Washington area will be uncontested on Tuesday. Except for one new face in Flower Hill, all incumbents are up for re-election. Absent from this list is the Village of Manorhaven, which holds its elections in June. PORT WASHINGTON NORTH Mayor Robert Weitzner

and Trustees Sherman Scheff and Matthew Kepke are seeking to keep their seats for another two-year term apiece. Opposing Scheff and Kepke for a trustee seat is newcomer Stanley Gerard, while Weitzner runs unopposed. Residents can vote at Village Hall, located at 3 Pleasant Ave., from noon to 9 p.m. BAXTER ESTATES Mayor Nora Haagenson, Deputy Mayor Charles Comer and Trustee Christopher Ficalora are up for re-election to two-year terms. All three

incumbents are running unopposed. Residents can vote at Village Hall at 315 Main St. in Port Washington. Polls are open from noon until 9 p.m. FLOWER HILL Trustees Frank Genese, seeking a third term, and Mary Jo Collins, seeking a first full term after serving the rest of Mayor Brian Herrington’s term as a trustee, will run for election to two-year seats.
