Three in Plandome, one in Munsey Park not seeking re-election to boards BY R O S E W E L D ON Two villages in Manhasset will see major changes in the March elections, with three Plandome trustees and one Munsey Park trustee not seeking re-election. Village of Plandome Trustee Andrew Bartels and current Deputy Mayor Ray Herbert won’t seek re-election to their positions on the village’s Board of Trustees. Trustee Gregory Westfall will also not be running after his one-year appointment. The three officials did not file candidate petitions before the due date on Tuesday, according to the village clerk’s office. The residents stepping up for the election are Robert Broderick and James Corcoran for Bartels’ and Herbert’s two-year terms, and John Kurkjian for Westfall’s oneyear term. All are running unopposed. Bartels ran unopposed for mayor last year, but was defeated

by a write-in campaign that elected current Mayor Thomas Minutillo. Westfall had been appointed to serve in the seat vacated by former Trustee Katie Saville last year. Efforts to reach Bartels and Westfall for comment were unavailing. Village of Munsey Park Trustee Jennifer Noone will also not run for re-election, according to the village clerk’s office. Incumbent Trustee Anthony Sabino, however, will, with residents Regina Im, Gregory LiCalzi and John Dellaquila also running for the two contested spots. Noone said in a phone call that she would comment at a later time. In other villages, Plandome Heights Mayor Kenneth C. Riscica will be running unopposed, as are Trustees Silva Ferman, Alvin Solomon and Dianne Sheehan. Plandome Manor Trustees Antonio DeSousa and Patricia O’Neill are also Continued on Page 51

according to a representative from the library. Violinist Roslyn Huang, who held a recital in the library’s community room for her music group, the Long Island Camerata, on Dec. 14, said that

parents of her students told her that Gough had called the performers, many of whom were of Asian descent, “foreigners.” Huang also said that Gough complained about the caterContinued on Page 51
