Alleged threat to ‘blow up’ Kings Pt. P.D. Rockaway Park man arrested for comments made in phone call: police BY R OB E RT PE L A E Z A Rockaway Park man was arrested for allegedly threatening to “blow up” the Village of Kings Point Police Department, according to the Nassau County Police Department. Nassau detectives said 61-year-old Michael Mortman of 140 Beach 119th St., Rockaway Park, Queens, verbally threatened to blow up the village’s Police Department, located at 32 Stepping Stone Lane, in a phone call around 10:30 p.m. on May 20. Mortman was identified after detectives from the county’s Sixth Squad located him, according to a news release. A spokesperson for the county Police Department told Newsday that New York City police officers arrested him around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday in Queens. According to officials, Mortman, who was arraigned in Mineola on Monday, was charged with
