Officials warn G.N. of hot spot concerns Government leaders fear further spread of coronavirus BY R OB E RT PELAEZ Government officials in Nassau County have issued an appeal underscoring the importance of abiding by statemandated health precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The appeal in a letter was a joint effort of Nassau County, the Town of North Hempstead and the nine villages on the Great Neck peninsula. The letter was signed by Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, Legislator El-
len Birnbaum (D-Great Neck), Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth, town council member Veronica Lurvey, town council member Lee Seeman, Village of Great Neck Mayor Pedram Bral, Village of Kings Point Mayor Michael Kalnick, Village of Saddle Rock Mayor Dan Levy, Village of Great Neck Estates Mayor William Warner, Village of Kensington Mayor Susan Lopatkin, Village of Great Neck Plaza Mayor Ted Rosen, Village of Thomaston Mayor Steven Weinberg, Village of Russell Gardens Mayor David Miller
and Village of Lake Success Mayor Adam Hoffman. BY R OB E RT PELAEZ The Village of Great Neck Board of Trustees meeting was met with a virtually verbose presence from the peninsula’s young adult population on Tuesday night, as the board voted to have the village de-
clare itself lead agency in the 777 Middle Neck Road project. Plans for multifamily housing on the location have been presented to the board and the public for nearly a year. The most recent proposal from the developer, Lions Group NYC, along with Newman Design and a traffic study conducted
by Cameron Engineering, would feature nine one-bedroom apartments, 31 two-bedroom apartments, four threebedroom units, and 79 parking spaces on the first floor. Roughly 65 people were virtually in attendance for Tuesday night’s board meeting, Continued on Page 44
