rade 9 researchers from Jacinto P. Elpa National High School has clinched a prestigious spot in the 2023 Young Innovators Award, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology (DOST-PCIEERD), securing a substantial grant of P340,000.

Given the risk of dividing our nation, will Filipinos instantly agree to former President Duterte’s clamor of territorial division?

Researchers Aldridge Aguhob, Kimberly Alonzo, and Marchzery Maquiling joined other researchers from 7 schools all over the country. The team is coached by Mr. Marvin Sumastre. Their research titled “Synthesis and Characterization of Lignocellulosic Biobased Aerogel derived from Cardava banana (Musa Alcuminata x Balbisiana) earned them a nod from DOST after their successful online defense. The research aims to produce an Aerogel absorbent that could detect heavy metal contents in waters.
