The Hideaway began as the vision of an ambitious group, and over the past several months, that vision has become a reality. With a commitment to premier lake access, we have secured 725 acres of prime land, partnered with renowned contractors, and collaborated with Greene County officials and local utilities. Now, The Hideaway is poised to become one of North America’s most prestigious private clubs, where every detail has been thoughtfully designed to exude sophistication, innovation, and timeless charm.

Beau is the founder of Beau Welling Design, a Greenville-based firm known for its strategic, visually compelling, and highly playable golf course design. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Beau also studied at Trinity College Dublin and holds a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina. He began his career under the mentorship of Tom Fazio, contributing to more than 90 acclaimed projects.
Today, he leads BWD in global work, including collaborations with Tiger Woods and the PGA Frisco development, delivering world-class solutions in course design, planning, and renovation. The Hideaway at Lake Oconee is proud to have Beau leading the course design, blending timeless architecture with a forward-thinking vision to create an experience that will inspire generations to come.
18 Holes
A Beau Welling design that showcases rolling hills, elevation changes, tall native grasses rugged bunkers, and thick rough. A championship golf course with a thick surrounding barrier of trees creating the tucked away, private, “Hideaway” experience.
125 Yards
Multiple greens, bunkers, and a 125-yard staggered wedge area with a dedicated practice facility equipped with all necessary amenities.
The Builder
Wayne began shaping golf courses in 1983 and has spent more than four decades leaving his mark on some of the most acclaimed courses across the country. He has has led the construction of premier projects while building lasting partnerships with many of the game’s most respected architects, including Tom Fazio, Tiger Woods, Ron Prichard, Davis Love III, Bob Cupp, Beau Welling, and Tom Watson. Known for his hands-on leadership and commitment to craftsmanship, Wayne continues to guide Medalist Golf with a focus on quality and precision. His extensive experience and reputation for excellence make him an essential partner in bringing The Hideaway at Lake Oconee’s vision to life.

No Outside Tournaments
