Tom Hanks’ 2020 “Greyhound” was a film about ships that traveled from Liverpool, England, trying to avoid German submarines during World War II. It was originally made for theaters back in March 2019 but was pulled because of COVID-19. It was eventually sold to AppleTV+ for $70 million, and the streaming service dropped it in July 2020.
After six years, Apple Original Films is now producing “Greyhound 2,” with Hanks, Elisabeth Shue, and “Adolescence” Emmy winner Stephen Graham. Hanks wrote the screenplay again, and it was shot in Sydney this past February.
Hanks will also be featured in “Toy Story 5” on June 19.
Meryl Streep will play Joni Mitchell in Cameron Crowe’s upcoming untitled film. Crowe’s last effort was the documentary “David Crosby: Remember My Name” (2019).
