HOLLYWOOD HAPPENINGS What’s happened to Hollywood? Have they run out of ideas? The latest reboot will be “The Saint,” which began as a series of films from 1938-1941 with Louis Hayward, then George Sanders, as Simon Templer. The TV series (1962-1969) starred Roger Moore. In 1978 it was revived for TV with Ian Ogilvy, but lasted just one season. In 1997 it was resurrected as a film with Val Kilmer as “The Saint” and turned a nice profit. Last year, a forgettable TV film was made starring Adam Rayner. Now producers plan to bring Templer back to big screens again, with Chris Pratt as “The Saint!”

Also in production is “The Sopranos” prequel movie, “The Many Saints of Newark.” Without Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), who died in 2013, producers opted to focus on his uncle Dickey Moltisanti, who was often talked about but never seen in the HBO series. Rising star Alessandro Nivola will play Moltisanti.

HERE’S A TIP

TIP 1 Hairspray spritzed on the end of a thread will stiffen it long enough to get it through a needle head. You also can thread your needle in front of a surface that’s an opposing color (for example, a white piece of paper behind while threading a needle with red thread). TIP 2 Freshen your pillows in the dryer for 10-15 minutes. Change your pillowcase at least once a week, and try a silk or silk-style pillowcase; they are easier on your hair and skin. TIP 3 Now’s the time to reset your clothing hangers. Turn the hangers in your closet facing out toward the room. As you wear items and they go through the laundry, put them in the closet facing in as normal. It won’t take long for you to see what you’re NOT wearing, and you can donate or get rid of the excess. TIP 4 Metal skewers are great for a barbecue, but the tip also can be used to create fancy designs on an iced cake, just like a pencil.

January 10, 1967 President Lyndon Johnson asks for enactment of a 6 percent surcharge on personal and corporate income taxes to help support the Vietnam War. The proposal,
