FROM THE EDITOR I’m truly excited for this month! There are so many great things to do around town, and the weather makes the traffic on Bell Road tolerable! Sun City West is celebrating its 40th Anniversary! All month long you can stop by the RH Johnson Library and take a trip down memory lane. On Thursday, Feb. 15, plan to attend the 40th Anniversary Dinner! Tickets are on sale at the Sun City West Box office. Additionally, there will be a 5K run at Stardust Golf Course on Feb. 17, and a ton of activities at the bowling center, as well. If there’s not enough going on, plan on stopping by the Sunrise Valley Pharmacy on the Feb. 21 and meet Owner/ Pharmacist Jenny Du, and see this incredible new pharmacy in our community. There will be door prizes! This month, we celebrate romantic relationships, and also honor our Presidents. I hope both of these celebrations get you out to enjoy special time with special friends.

The mind is directly interconnected with your physical body, and while this stands true for everybody, it is something people living with a chronic illness are reminded of every day. For people living with rheumatoid arthritis, it can be challenging to stay mentally and emotionally positive when your health is always on your mind. The symptoms of RA and their effect on physical functioning can impact overall well-being, which can lead to feelings such as self-doubt.

Change the energy Create a set of your own soundtracks! One playlist might bring back good memories, another might make you feel motivated to take on a busy day, and perhaps another makes you feel calm and relaxed. February 13, 1945 Allied firebombing raids begin against the German city of Dresden, reducing the city to rubble. The medieval city, renowned for its artistic and architectural treasures, had never been a site of war production or major industry. February 14, 1929 Penicillin is discovered by Sir Alexander Fleming, a bacteriologist. Fleming left a plate of staphylococcus bacteria uncovered, and noticed that mold that had fallen on the culture had killed many of the bacteria. It is one of the most widely used antibiotic agents of all time.
