Magical Gloopy Glop Here’s a bit of magic your grandkids won’t want to miss. This slithery goop appears to be solid one moment when you shape it like a ball in the palms of your hands only to ooze out between your fingers, over your wrist and down your arm seconds later. Add food coloring for extra effect. After you make the concoction, play with it and then come up with words to describe it!
Dry Hankie Trick Stuff a piece of facial tissue or a hankie into the bottom of a tall plastic cup. Turn the cup upside-down and submerge it directly into a sink, bathtub or backyard wading pool filled with water. Push the cup all the way to the bottom of the sink, tub or pool, and bring it straight up and out of the water. Pull the tissue or hankie out. It will be dry! (Remember, the key to success is to keep the cup perfectly straight when plunging into the water and pulling it out again.)
Here’s the simple recipe for this sensory activity. Measure 1 1/2 cups cornstarch in a large mixing bowl. Add about 1 cup water and stir to form a thick paste. Add more water if it’s too thick. Now, roll the goop in your hand to form a ball. As you hold it tightly, it behaves like a solid. Squeeze it, and then let it drip through your fingers to discover its unique properties as it flows into the bowl in ribbons. Or, place it on a cookie sheet, press it flat and then roll it in a ball. It’s amazing!

TIP 3 Clean your dryer vents every three to six months. Remove the vent hose and shake it out to remove sand or dirt, then run a vent brush to loosen stuck-on lint. Use the wand attachment or a shop vac to clean the dryer itself, and don’t forget to wipe down the inside drum with a damp cloth. TIP 4 Need to chop nuts? The cast is outstanding, but the theme is uncommitted and the players are stuck in skit cliches. It could have been flirty and frivolous debauchery (cocaine-laced dance party) or the blackest of black comedies (dead stripper coverup). It tries to be both and the result is rough.

Practical tips for making the most of your life
With the chaos of the holidays fast approaching, make sure you carve out time to live life well. So often we slide through life without a plan, then wonder why we didn’t achieve our desires. Here are some tips for ways to stop sliding and start thriving. 1. Eat clean and eat often. The cleaner you eat, the better you’re going to feel…and never, ever skip meals. 2. Stay hydrated! 3. Sleep 7-8 hours every night. Our body does most of its recovery during sleep. The shorter you sleep, the less recovery you’ll get, and the worse you’re going to feel. 4. Move your body. Lift weights, run, dance, hike... whatever works for you to stay active. 5. Don’t dwell on the past. Learn from it, let it go and move on. 6. Set goals. Make sure they’re measurable and that you check-in periodically to evaluate if your progress is on track. Goals create direction, motivation and purpose.
7. Be thankful. Be humble. 8. Discover your passion. Do what you love as often as you can. 9. Surround yourself with awesome people. People you love make you feel good and they support your dreams. 10. Express your love to the important people in your life as often as possible. Not only will this make them feel good, but it makes you feel great! 11. Play. Spend time laughing and doing silly things with your spouse, children or friends. 12. Express yourself. There’s only one you. Own it, love it and let yourself shine! 13. Help others. 14. Celebrate. Recognize the little moments as well as the big—that way you won’t miss a thing. 15. Value your time. If something doesn’t bring anything positive to your life, it doesn’t deserve your time. 16. No more negative self-talk. The more time you spend in the negative, the worse it gets, and the longer it takes to climb out of that spiral. 17. Relax and recharge. Take vacations and don’t work too much. At the end of this life you’ll never say, “I wish I had spent more time at the office.” 18. Keep fit. Eat well, exercise and find balance in your life. 19. Believe in yourself!
