We are proud to support Grand Theatre and the artists that are captivating audiences with exciting, innovative, and entertaining productions. We’re proud to sponsor the 2026/2027 season.

Welcome tothe Grand Theatre We’re so glad you’re here. The Grand Theatre acknowledges that we are located on the traditional territories of the Original storytellers and caretakers of this land, and of the Nations, both settler and Indigenous, who continue to uphold the various treaties of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, and Lunaapéewak. In London, our treaties include the 1796 London Township Treaty and the 1822 Longwoods Treaty. The London Township Treaty was a regional treaty signed by diplomats representing all parties living on the land, which today we know as Southwestern Ontario. The Longwoods Treaty was signed by representatives of the Crown and the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation and covers approximately 580,000 acres in the area. Locally, there are three First Nations Communities. They are the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, the Oneida Nation of the Thames, and the Munsee Delaware Nation. We would also like to recognize the growing Indigenous urban population, comprised of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people, and affirm our commitment to welcoming these communities to the Grand Theatre, while working to remove barriers to access and participation. We value the significant historical and contemporary contributions of local and regional First Nations, and all of the Original Peoples of Turtle Island (colonially known as North America), and acknowledge the traditional lands upon which we live, work, share, and tell stories together. WELCOME Adaptations of Dracula abound. Some of you may remember the Grand’s 1995/96 season in which a more direct adaptation graced the stage as its holiday slot offering. In that iteration, Krista Jackson - director of this production - graced the stage as an actor. During 1971/72 – the first season of what is now the Grand Theatre company – there is lore of a live bat swinging into the scene of Dracula as if exactly on cue! Personally, I grew up in the age of Interview with a Vampire and Buffy the Vampire Slayer mania, so for me the more vampires, the better! But what you are going to see tonight is something very different… I love comedy but I am picky about farce. To that end, I am 100% a fan of Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen. They have taken this timeless story and inserted energy, speed, and zaniness that guarantee a great night out! They also are playing with gender norms, societal tropes, and brilliant social messages, all addressed with humour as a way to hold up a mirror to who we are, what we do, and where we might need to take a fresh look. If I can laugh AND think about the world we live in, all the better! I am excited to welcome back many fantastic artists on this project who are part of the Grand family (who can

forget Jesse Gervais’ death scene in Clue?!) and to be bringing some incredible artists to you for the first time. Starting a season has excitement in our spaces for so many reasons, but this one feels extra special. Some of that excitement comes from the fact this show has been in the works for longer than most – our talented shop team built this set last season in order to get ahead of the demands of also building School of Rock and A Christmas Carol. Our excitement also comes from the immense comic talent of this world-class team. In a season of shows inspired by so many different types of source material, Dracula in our Halloween season feels just right. Here’s to a bloody great twist on an old gem.

DIRECTOR’S NOTE While preparing to direct Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors, I went back to re-read the 1897 Bram Stoker gothic horror novel. I am no stranger to it, having played Mina, right here on the Grand’s Spriet Stage in Michael Shamata and Paula Wing’s 1995/96 adaptation. I was once again struck by how much of it is told through letters and diary entries chronicling past events. What Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen have done so deliciously in Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors is lift the story out of that narration, take liberties with the plot and characters, and throw it into an action packed 90-minute, genderbending, camp-filled frenzy. This play Photography by Ann baggley. is a whirlwind chase where all the characters - played by 5 actors - go on as they discover Dracula is the irresistible vampire in their midst. It is in the style of Mel Brooks, Monty Python, and British Pantos and our team has drawn inspiration from the vampire reality show Dragula, What We Do in the Shadows, and of course Bugs Bunny and Scooby Doo! It has been an absolute scream building Dracula’s world with this incredibly funny and talented cast and creative team. We have added our own flourishes, anachronisms, and magic and like the Transylvanian wolves in the play, have howled with delight as we crafted and refined the comedy it required of us. There is plenty to sink your teeth into, and I hope it leaves you thirsty, hungry for more.

KRISTA JACKSON

DIRECTOR, Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors

DONOR SPOTLIGHT

JAMIE & JODIE

CAMPBELL In the grand scheme of 125 years, Jamie and Jodie are fairly new to the Grand. Having raised three kids (including a set of twins), they spent the majority of the past 20 or so years running from arena to arena with coaching, tournaments, and everything that comes with extracurricular sports. With that season behind them, they started looking for something new. Their friends are long-time supporters of the Grand, and Jamie and Jodie had been to a few shows here and there in those child-rearing, sport-filled years. The arts seemed like a great way to shake things up. Getting a subscription has allowed them to have a standing date night and experience shows that they likely would have missed as single-ticket purchasers. Their love for the theatre deepened when Jamie won a walk-on role for Elf at the 2022 Grand Gala. Being backstage and seeing the hustle and bustle of all the moving parts was enlightening. Jodie and Jamie both agree that learning about all the people behind the scenes is one of the best benefits as a donor.

e th r Don a t

ou g h

an d Stoc ks s ! i ti e Se c u r

In January 2023, Jamie joined the board and enjoyed getting involved in the business side of the theatre. He soon took over as Treasurer in December 2024. He is proud of the hard work that the team at the Grand has done to build back since the pandemic and seeing the growth in the numbers of people coming to the theatre! JAMIE AND JODIE’S HOT TIP FOR DONATING: Jamie & Jodie are financial advisors and have many tips & tricks for donating! The hottest tip is to donate through shares if you are able! “The tax advantages are a ‘win-win-win’ for all” so talk to your accountant or financial advisor. “Your money goes so much further.” favourite shows: jodie: “Grand Theatre High School Project production of The Phantom of the Opera” jamie: “Mary Poppins – the chimney sweep scene was incredible!”
